Ling Qiu glanced at Cheng Qiang.
So this must be the most influential person here tonight.
Cheng Qiang narrowed his eyes and strode steadily through the crowd. When he saw Lü Mao pinned beneath Ling Qiu’s foot, his brows drew together slightly.
“Lü Mao is a friend of mine. Do you know the consequences of what you’ve done today, kid?”
Cheng Qiang was clearly on an entirely different level. Neither hurried nor agitated, he snapped his fingers. Someone beside him immediately stepped forward and respectfully lit a cigarette for him.
Throughout the entire process, everyone held their breath, fully experiencing the imposing presence of Young Master Cheng.
“Is… is that the legendary Young Master Cheng?”
“No wonder he’s a member of the Cheng family! What an aura… Even a casual remark from him feels crushingly intimidating!”
Ling Qiu narrowed his eyes slightly.
“You’re surnamed Cheng?”
The sudden question left everyone stunned.
Then Cheng Qiang gave him a meaningful smile.
“I heard there was a fearless young man causing trouble here tonight. I happened to be dining next door, so out of curiosity, I came to see for myself. What’s the matter? Did hearing that I’m surnamed Cheng frighten you? If so, I have to admit, I’m rather disappointed.”
The reason Ling Qiu had asked was that Cheng Qiang’s features bore a faint resemblance to Cheng Yushui.
Among the prominent families in the provincial capital bearing the surname Cheng, the most famous was probably the Cheng family of Cheng Yushui and Cheng Youyou.
That was why Ling Qiu had asked the question on impulse.
He had never expected everyone present to misunderstand him.
“Hahaha! I thought he was truly fearless!”
Liu Xing burst out laughing. “Where did all that bravado go, kid?”
Liang Feifan grinned as well. “Get on your knees and kowtow right now. You might still manage to buy yourself half a breath of life!”
Ling Qiu paid no attention to the others. He looked calmly at Cheng Qiang.
“This has nothing to do with you. Get lost.”
He was showing consideration for Cheng Youyou.
After all, Cheng Qiang shared Cheng Youyou’s surname. Cheng Yushui had already been dealt with thoroughly, and Ling Qiu saw no need to make trouble for another member of the Cheng family.
So he had intended to let Cheng Qiang off.
Cheng Qiang, however, showed no appreciation whatsoever. His eyes narrowed.
“What… did you say?”
Liang Feifan hurriedly stepped forward. “Young Master Cheng, he said you should get lost!”
Smack!
The moment Liang Feifan finished speaking, Cheng Qiang viciously slapped the back of his head.
“Did I ask you?”
Liang Feifan staggered, clutching his head. Though clearly in pain, he kept forcing a smile.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Young Master Cheng. I spoke out of turn!”
Cheng Qiang’s gaze returned to Ling Qiu.
“So you really are fearless after all.”

With that, he tossed a single instruction to Manager Sun.
“Old Sun, seal off the venue.”
Seal off the venue?
The words made everyone’s hearts jolt.
Those simple words meant only one thing: the fury of the Cheng family’s young master was about to ignite.
Everyone felt a surge of excitement, both nervous and expectant.
They had never seen a young master of the Cheng family lose his temper before.
Damn, it had to be spectacular!
“Yes!”
Manager Sun immediately understood. He picked up his radio.
“Seal the venue. No one is allowed to enter or leave! All security personnel assigned to internal duties, report to the banquet hall on the eighth floor immediately. Now!”
Once the order was given, it was carried out with astonishing efficiency.
In less than two minutes, the venue had been sealed. More than twenty security guards in black suits stormed into the banquet hall. One by one, they stood behind Cheng Qiang with fierce expressions, glaring fixedly at Ling Qiu.
Cheng Qiang took a deep drag on his cigarette, exhaled a cloud of smoke, then dropped the cigarette to the floor and ground it out beneath his shoe.
With both hands in his pockets, he coldly issued four words:
“Beat him to death.”
Four simple words, delivered in a light, careless tone.
It was as though Ling Qiu’s life meant absolutely nothing to him.
In the next instant, more than twenty security guards charged forward together, rubber batons swinging in their hands.
The sight sent Liang Feifan, Liu Xing, and many of Lü Mao’s lackeys into a fever of excitement.
“This is thrilling!”
“Damn, that kid is finished!”
“If he manages to walk out of Water City Grand Hotel on his own two feet today, I, Liang Feifan, will livestream myself eating excrement!”
Ling Qiu shook his head faintly.
He suddenly regretted his decision.
He should have simply beaten Lü Mao and left.
But he had been wondering whether some worthy opponent might appear afterward.
Instead, all he had found was another childish nuisance.
He lazily blinked and slowly raised his hand. Facing the more than twenty men surging toward him, he remained utterly calm.
…
At that very moment, outside Water City Grand Hotel, a Land Rover happened to be passing by.

“Stop.”
A voice came from the back seat.
The vehicle came to an abrupt halt.
The window rolled down, revealing a familiar face.
It was Cheng Yushui.
He glanced at the tightly closed doors of Water City Grand Hotel and asked his subordinate, “If I remember correctly, this hotel was placed under the care of one of my cousins. What was his name again…? Ah, Cheng Qiang, right?”
His subordinate hurriedly replied, “Yes, Third Young Master. You did put him in charge of this hotel.”
Cheng Yushui narrowed his eyes.
“It’s not even that late. Why is it already closed? Has something happened here recently? Or did that boy Cheng Qiang mismanage the place and cause some sort of trouble?”
The subordinate looked equally bewildered.
“About that… I really don’t know. It shouldn’t be anything serious. I passed by yesterday, and everything was fine.”
Cheng Yushui pondered for a moment, then suddenly said, “Go. Stop at the entrance. I’ll go inside and take a look.”
“Third Young Master, there’s no need for you to concern yourself with such a trivial matter. I’ll send someone to ask—”
“No need.”
Cheng Yushui waved his hand.
“When I first took over the family business, this was one of the hotels I used to gain experience. I have some attachment to it, and it’s been a long time since I last visited. I haven’t eaten yet, so I’ll dine here and see what’s going on while I’m at it.”
The vehicle soon stopped in front of the hotel.
Cheng Yushui got out and asked one of the young guards stationed at the entrance, “Why is the hotel closed?”
The guard glanced at him.
“None of your business! Our Young Master Cheng is handling something. Outsiders aren’t allowed to interfere!”
Hmm?
Cheng Yushui narrowed both eyes.
At that moment, a slightly older guard hurried over and slapped the young guard across the face.
“Are you blind? Take a good look! This is our Third Young Master Cheng! Get on your knees and apologize!”
“What? Third… Third Young Master Cheng?”
The young guard’s face turned deathly pale.
Third Young Master Cheng?
He was one of the five young masters of the Cheng family.
The guard had never seen him before, but his reputation was thunderous.
Without daring to hesitate, he immediately started to kneel.
“Forget it.”
Cheng Yushui reached out and stopped him.
Ever since encountering Ling Qiu, Cheng Yushui’s temper had genuinely become much more restrained.
“Answer me. Why is the hotel closed? What is Cheng Qiang doing inside?”
The two guards did not dare conceal anything and immediately told him the truth.
After listening, Cheng Yushui’s expression gradually hardened. His eyes narrowed.
“What kind of person would be bold enough to cause trouble in a hotel belonging to the Cheng family? Open the doors. I’m going up to take a look.”
