Chapter 75: Farewell, Traitor
Buzzcut had come to deliver a message for the Young Master.
That day, Young Master Zhao Zeyi had arranged for Yan Ze to deal with the three members of the Falcon Investigation Team, but he wasn’t entirely at ease, so he secretly sent another person to watch over them. As it turned out, just as he had suspected, this young guard was unreliable. He feared the guard would eliminate the three, but instead, the guard released them and even escorted them all the way to that lawless borderland.
Originally, the plan was to deal with all four at once. But unexpected events unfolded—the watcher he sent was in turn being watched by someone else. It was indeed “the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind”—on someone else’s turf, one’s hands and feet are always tied.
He had no choice but to change his plans on the spot. Since they managed to escape, he would simply invite them back, and if necessary, meet them in person. After spending so much time together, he was genuinely curious to see their reactions upon meeting him again. Fools are always fools—even if they escape once by luck, could they really escape a second or third time?
The messenger had to be reliable, to ensure the message would be delivered smoothly. After much consideration, the Young Master finally thought of someone—Buzzcut. He summoned him.
Ever since escaping from the Great Wilderness Mountain, Buzzcut had been following Elder Wu, at least in everyone’s eyes, he was considered Wu’s lapdog. Lately, word had spread of a Young Master who was at odds with Professor Wu. Instinct told Buzzcut that this Young Master might be out to cause trouble for him. He hadn’t expected it to happen so soon.
He arrived at the Young Master’s office, pushed open the door, and found it empty.
He called out tentatively but received no answer.
After waiting a few more minutes, just as he was about to leave, a clear male voice rang out from the adjacent lounge: “You’re here!”
Judging by the voice, he couldn’t be that old, Buzzcut was momentarily distracted, then quickly collected himself, and said in a flattering tone, “They said you wanted to see me, is there something you need?”
“You really are like a dog, coming so quickly!” Zhao Zeyi walked out from the lounge, speaking in a voice Buzzcut recognized.
Buzzcut had been somewhat curious about the Young Master’s appearance. He’d heard the Young Master was more beautiful than a woman. But out came someone he knew—Zhao Nana.
“What are you doing here?” Buzzcut blurted out.
“I called you here! Why do you think I’m here?” Zhao Zeyi dropped the imitation and spoke in his own voice. He was about the same height as Buzzcut, and now, wearing heels, looked down upon him.
Buzzcut didn’t let the Young Master’s aura intimidate him, but he felt distinctly uncomfortable—the voice and the face didn’t match, a strange mismatch.
“Buzzcut, is it? I still don’t know your real name!” Zhao Zeyi said, his tone teasing.
“Zheng Xin.”
“Chicken fillet?”
“Don’t mention the word ‘chicken,’ I’m allergic!” Buzzcut replied with a hint of melancholy. Ever since his chickens had flown the coop, he’d developed a resentment toward both chickens and eggs.
“Tsk tsk, that’s some deep resentment!” Zhao Zeyi laughed at Buzzcut’s reaction.
“If you’re here to rub salt in my wounds, then sorry, I don’t care if you’re a Young Master or not…”
“No need to be fierce! I’m so scared!” Zhao Zeyi said in a girlish tone.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving!” Buzzcut turned to go.
“Wait!” Zhao Zeyi stopped him, and whispered in his ear, “I completely understand your feelings! I’ve endured the same pain. We’ve both been through hardship together! Help me out, and you won’t go unrewarded.”
Buzzcut wasn’t sure if this strange, gender-shifting person was telling the truth. He just wanted to leave as soon as possible. So, regardless of what the Young Master said, he turned toward the door.
“If you refuse, I won’t mind making your superior pack up and move!” the Young Master said darkly.
And so unfolded the scene of Buzzcut delivering a message to the Falcon Investigation Team, only to be humiliated once again.
Yang Dalong didn’t realize that in Buzzcut’s heart, their animosity had deepened yet another layer. Buzzcut couldn’t understand: Yang Dalong wasn’t any less a villain, a local tyrant who’d managed to clean up his image, even had people caring for his child—why him?
Brother Long now had no time to worry about Buzzcut’s feelings. If he dared to toy with Buzzcut, he had no intention of fearing him, and besides, there was no time for it. They needed to discuss their strategy for this looming banquet.
First, a meeting was essential. Since leaving the A03 forbidden zone, they hadn’t met this fake Zhao Nana. From any perspective, it was necessary to see her.
Now the question was, where should they meet? According to the Young Master’s wishes, the location would naturally be chosen by him, preferably somewhere entirely under his control. That way, with his limited manpower, he could confront several people at once without danger.
The Falcon Investigation Team, of course, disagreed. It wasn’t that they were unwilling to take risks. From their standpoint, whether Young Master, Professor Wu, or the future city lord, all were enemy forces. Although the three were mutually antagonistic, the Young Master might not dare make a move, but if the three joined forces, escape would be impossible.
The two sides didn’t deadlock for long and soon reached a compromise: they chose a tea restaurant in the slum district to meet. Usually, there was plenty of traffic, and both sides felt it was relatively safe.
Early the next morning, Da Min, Xiaofeng, Brother Long, and Gangzi set out. To avoid detection, they had specially disguised themselves before leaving. Crossing the quarantine zone, they soon arrived at the appointed location, still shy of nine o’clock, with dozens of minutes to spare.
The room was already booked, but the Young Master had yet to arrive. With nothing to do, they sat in the room, and the waiter brought each of them a cup of tea. For safety’s sake, none of them drank.
Around nine twenty-five, Young Master Zhao Zeyi arrived. She entered gracefully, the Falcon brothers instantly recognized her face, but felt no warmth.
“So this is the Young Master?” Gangzi leaned over to Brother Long and whispered.
“Yes,” Brother Long replied seriously.
“She’s a knockout! No wonder you guys didn’t notice anything was off—must’ve been blinded by beauty!”
“Get lost! We were nostalgic! She borrowed Nana’s identity, and we weren’t paying attention!” Brother Long retorted.
Gangzi didn’t press further.
When the room fell quiet, Young Master Zhao Zeyi arrogantly stubbed out her cigarette and spoke: “So we meet again, my dear friends~”
