Chapter 10: Signing the Contract!

After leaving Lockheed Martin, Mijias, Wang Yang, and Jiang Liangliang boarded the Range Rover favored by arms dealers and headed for the warehouse.
The warehouse was located some distance from Lockheed Martin—not particularly far, but certainly not close either.
Before they even arrived, Wang Yang and Jiang Liangliang saw several armed soldiers patrolling outside the warehouse.
Wang Yang could understand the precaution.
After all, the place held an entire warehouse of weapons. If anyone harbored malicious intentions, the losses and consequences could be devastating. Even the world’s largest arms dealer would never want to see its own weapons turn up in a terrorist operation.
Jiang Liangliang looked somewhat nervous. It was her first time seeing real people standing guard with guns. The impact was immense, and she could not help associating them with the savage faces of arms dealers in the movies.
With Mijias in the car, the three soon arrived at the warehouse entrance.
“My friend, the F-22 fighter you wanted is stored here. Come with me.” Mijias raised a hand, a cigar clenched between his teeth.
Wang Yang and Jiang Liangliang followed close behind.
As two armed soldiers opened the warehouse doors, a chill swept through them both.
Surrounded by camouflage, an enormous, thick gun barrel pointed straight ahead. The battle tank known as the king of land warfare stood motionless inside.
On the shelves beside it were all kinds of firearms: Browning pistols, M4A1 semi-automatic rifles, AK-47 rifles, M749 submachine guns, MK11 sniper rifles—everything imaginable.
This place was practically a vast arms factory. Whatever firearm one could want, it was here.
Wang Yang shuddered, feeling a surge of excitement rush through him.
This was no mere arms dealer’s warehouse. It was practically paradise for men!
He firmly believed that no man could remain calm after seeing so many firearms and tanks. It was simply impossible.
Except, of course, for the sissies.
Jiang Liangliang, by contrast, shrank timidly toward Wang Yang. She had no interest in these weapons whatsoever; all they inspired in her was fear.
“Everything you see here is merely a small display of what we possess. I’m sure you’ve heard something of Lockheed Martin’s capabilities. In the future, if you need anything, as long as you can settle matters on your side of the Nine Provinces, you may come here whenever you like and choose whatever you want.” Mijias was exceptionally enthusiastic.
Wang Yang nodded. “No problem.”
Unless you can somehow get more decommissioned military shells like these fighter jets and tanks next time, there probably won’t be another opportunity for us to work together.
That was what Wang Yang thought silently.

“The fighter jets you wanted are over here.” Mijias continued leading the way until they reached the far end of the warehouse. He raised a hand toward a corner piled high with scrap.
Wang Yang followed his gaze and frowned.
Several sections of fighter-jet wreckage, cut into pieces, lay in the corner. Dust covered their surfaces, robbing them of their former luster. Only the paint on one section allowed him to identify them, faintly, as F-22 fighter-jet shells.
The wings appeared to have been divided into two or three pieces as well, while the tires and other components were scattered across the floor.
“System, can fighter jets in this condition still be repaired?” Wang Yang communicated with the system through his consciousness.
System: “Host, you may rest assured. As long as the fighter-jet shells are complete, they can be repaired even if they have been cut into countless pieces.”
That was good.
Wang Yang maintained the same expression as before, showing no change whatsoever.
Seeing his expression, Mijias hurriedly explained, “As you know, the military removed every component. Some parts could only be taken out by cutting apart the entire structure, so… Please believe me, Wang Yang. This is exactly how they arrived.”
It had not been easy to sell these two fighter jets, and he did not want Wang Yang to walk away now.
Without Wang Yang, he had no idea when the next buyer for these two scrap-metal-like fighters would appear.
“Brother Yang, these are already scrap metal… Are we really going to buy these two shells? Even if we tried to resell them, it wouldn’t be easy, would it?” Jiang Liangliang reminded him in the language of the Nine Provinces.
To be honest, she still could not understand why Wang Yang wanted to buy this pile of scrap metal.
Was it because of those haters?
It was hardly worth it.
Once this scrap metal was brought back, it would surely end up as nothing more than a display piece. Even if they bought it, those haters would certainly refuse to pay, claiming that it was merely a pile of scrap metal and definitely not the F-22 fighter jet they wanted.
Besides, they were only a group of haters. There was no way they could truly afford to buy a fighter jet.
Wang Yang ignored Jiang Liangliang and turned to look at Mijias.
“Mr. Mijias, can you guarantee that all these wreckage pieces will form complete aircraft once assembled? Not a single part can be missing. As you know, I need a complete fighter-jet shell.”
If anything was missing, he would turn around and leave at once.

Mijias did not hesitate for even a moment before replying decisively, “Wang Yang, you can rest assured. These are all the fighter-jet shells, and it is absolutely impossible for anything to be missing. I can guarantee that with Lockheed Martin’s reputation.”
“If you’re still concerned, you may inspect everything after delivery. If you find that anything is missing, I won’t charge you a single penny for either the deposit or the shipping. I’ll cover it all myself.”
Only after hearing such a guarantee did a smile appear on Wang Yang’s face.
“Then there’s no problem. We can sign the contract.”
Jiang Liangliang froze. She looked at Wang Yang, then at the pile of scrap metal, astonishment and panic flickering in her eyes.
They were going to sign the contract just like that?
One fighter jet cost 2.3 million U.S. dollars. Two would be 4.6 million. With shipping costing 300,000 dollars per aircraft, the total came to 5.2 million U.S. dollars.
Converted into Nine Provinces currency, that was nearly forty million…
There wasn’t remotely enough money in the company’s accounts!
Brother Yang, what on earth are you trying to do? If this deal loses money, the company will go bankrupt!
No—even bankruptcy wouldn’t be enough to repay all that debt…
If President Liang found out, she would be furious…
As she was thinking this, she heard Mijias extend a hand with a broad smile.
“The contract has been ready for a long time. I was only waiting for you to say those words, my friend.”
“Very well. Let’s go sign it right away.” Wang Yang did not hesitate in the slightest and turned to leave.
Mijias’s hearty laughter echoed through the arms warehouse.
“After we sign the contract, you can go to the Lockheed Martin cafeteria and have something to eat. Wang Yang, believe me, you’ll be able to enjoy the most authentic local specialties there—an exquisite flavor you could travel across the entire country and still never find anywhere else.”
“Oh? Then I’ll have to give it a proper try. But let me make one thing clear in advance: you can’t pass off pizza and hamburgers as local specialties. That would be fraud.” Wang Yang teased him.
Mijias threw his head back and laughed. “We’re very serious about keeping our promises.”
