Chapter 14: The F-22 Fighter Jet Has Arrived!

After sending Jiang Liangliang home, Wang Yang returned to the one-hundred-square-meter apartment he rented. Using his key, he unlocked the cold security door and stepped into the pitch-black interior. He didn’t turn on the lights but instead walked by memory to the sofa and collapsed heavily onto it.
He lay there quietly, steadying his breath and calming his weary mind and body from exhaustion.
Within two days, he had flown from Jiuzhou to the United States, completed a business deal, rushed back to Jiuzhou, and spent an entire afternoon inspecting a warehouse. Although he took occasional breaks, the extended travel left him somewhat fatigued.
However, whenever he thought about the plan’s success—the repair of the F22 fighter jets—and the huge rewards that awaited him, the exhaustion felt more bearable.
Struggling to sit up, he picked up his phone from the coffee table, intending to order takeout. Cooking was out of the question; his refrigerator was completely empty, so barren that even a mouse would weep to find only a couple of grains of rice inside.
Before he could decide what to order, the doorbell rang.
Ding dong~ ding dong~
“Who is it?” Wang Yang frowned, his expression instantly sharpening with caution.
None of his friends would drop by unannounced at this hour, and he hadn’t ordered any doorstep service. He couldn’t imagine who would be outside his door at this moment.
“Delivery! I left your order at the door,” came a rough male voice from outside.
Wang Yang was momentarily stunned but quickly got up and looked through the peephole at the departing delivery man. He then opened the door.
He saw a takeout package hanging on the doorknob. Picking it up, he confirmed the name and address matched his own, but he frowned again.
Who would order him takeout so late at night? And it was a deluxe set with two meat dishes and two vegetables!
Didn’t they know he usually just ate braised chicken with rice?
Still, Wang Yang took the order inside without worry. With today’s advanced internet, if the food were poisoned and he died, the police could trace the order number back to the person who placed it, making them the prime suspect. Of course, the delivery guy wouldn’t get away either.
He turned on the living room light, the warm glow revealing the room’s simple furnishings. Wang Yang placed the food on the coffee table and was about to open it when his phone chimed with a WeChat message.
Liang the pushover: [I heard from Liangliang that you spent the whole afternoon inspecting the warehouse and hadn’t eaten, so I took the liberty to order some takeout for you.]
Wang Yang paused, his expression stiffening slightly.
So this General Manager Liang really knew how to care for his subordinates—he knew Wang Yang had been out all day without dinner and ordered food for him?
Finally growing up and learning to win people’s hearts—it wasn’t easy.

Wang Yang set down his phone without replying immediately. He opened the takeout containers—the deluxe set with two meat dishes and two vegetables, ordered by Liang the pushover—and began eating heartily.
As the fragrant dishes entered his mouth, a smile deepened on Wang Yang’s face.
Not bad at all; this meal was truly delicious.
…
In Qingcheng, inside a rented apartment less than eighty square meters, only the bedroom light was on, dim and soft.
Liang Yuzhu, dressed in pale pink cartoon pajamas, curled up on the bed with her legs drawn in. She stared intently at her phone screen, watching the chat window for a reply that never came, then switched to the delivery app.
The status showed the order had been delivered, but Wang Yang hadn’t replied…
Had the delivery man left the food at the door, and had Wang Yang fallen asleep?
Should she call him to tell him she had ordered takeout?
Would that cause any misunderstanding?
But if the food wasn’t eaten in time, it would get cold and become inedible…
Her five slender toes curled together, her smooth calves exposed beyond the pajamas, tense. Her hands hugged her legs tightly, cheeks flushed faintly as she buried her face in her knees.
Just as she had been torn before sending the message, she was trapped again in indecision.
Ding dong.
At that moment, her phone buzzed with a WeChat notification.
Wang Yang: [Thanks, General Manager Liang, for the two meat and two vegetable dishes! Much better than braised chicken rice.]
Upon reading this, the worried expression on Liang Yuzhu’s delicate face softened into a faint smile.
Since Wang Yang left for the US to negotiate this uncertain deal, her heart had been uneasy. Her greatest fear was that Wang Yang would suddenly call to say he might lose money on this business…
But judging from the current situation, that seemed unlikely. After all, with Wang Yang in charge, he would surely handle everything.
He had managed to build a live-stream sales company and turn it profitable within a year; surely he could find a way to make this deal work too.
Thinking this, Liang Yuzhu picked up her phone and began typing rapidly.
Yet after a few lines, she deleted them and retyped, wrestling with her thoughts repeatedly.
Finally, biting her thin lips, she thought for a while and quietly sent a single word:
“Okay.”
She clicked send, then turned to gaze out the window, her eyes easing from worry.
This deal… it absolutely must succeed.

The sun rose in the east, casting golden light across the land.
Wang Yang arrived at the company early to handle business affairs.
In the past two days, he had either been in the US or visiting factories, leaving little time to manage the company.
Although live streaming was temporarily suspended and the company lacked other revenue streams, routine matters—such as personnel arrangements, expenses, and contracts with other brands—still required attention.
Wang Yang didn’t fully trust Jiang Liangliang or others to manage these tasks, so he took care of them himself.
Before long, it was midday. He ate the takeout Jiang Liangliang had ordered for him while discussing with Mi Jias.
Mi Jias reported that the cruise ship had departed, racing full speed toward Qingcheng Port in Jiuzhou. The voyage would take nineteen days, meaning by the end of the month, the two empty F22 fighter jet shells would arrive.
Hearing this, Wang Yang was delighted.
The company wasn’t yet profitable and was losing money daily—paying salaries, material losses, and so forth. He was trying to save wherever possible, so he hoped the two F22 shells would arrive at the port as soon as possible.
After speaking with Mi Jias, Wang Yang began preparing the customs paperwork.
Though the shells were mere scrap metal, their origin as F22 fighters would attract scrutiny. He anticipated potential complications and planned accordingly.
Once all was settled, the day passed swiftly.
…
Time flew, and nineteen days later, Wang Yang had successfully rented the large warehouse he had eyed, securing it for 90,000 yuan through psychological tactics.
Now, everything was ready. All that remained was for the cruise ship to dock and deliver the precious F22 fighter jet shells he had long awaited.
Wang Yang prepared thoroughly for the day. He contacted Liang Yuzhu, instructing her to bring her ID, and asked Jiang Liangliang to ready all company documents and materials as backup.
Sitting quietly in his office, Wang Yang awaited their arrival.
Knock, knock, knock.
The door opened as Liang Yuzhu and Jiang Liangliang entered simultaneously.
“Brother Yang, everything you requested is ready,” Jiang Liangliang said, placing a stack of documents on Wang Yang’s desk.
Liang Yuzhu said nothing, quietly sitting on the sofa.
Wang Yang glanced over the materials, nodded in approval, and said, “Good. You can go back to your work. I’m going out with General Manager Liang shortly. Call me if anything comes up.”
“Okay, Brother Yang.”
After Jiang Liangliang left the office, Wang Yang turned to Liang Yuzhu.
“You’ve been curious about what exactly I bought, haven’t you? The shipment arrives today—I’ll take you to see it.”
