Chapter 35: Trying to Hoodwink a Sucker, Are We?
"A discount? Is the big shot actually planning to buy it? Good grief, for such a broken model, you don't need hundreds of millions—if you gave me ten million, I could absolutely mass-produce a batch for you!"
"Oh ho, the troll brother is starting a side hustle? Now, besides running a bot army, you're also taking on modification and processing jobs for fighter jet models?"
"Heh, having many skills doesn't weigh you down, but my main profession remains that of a bot, that is beyond doubt."
"Rich Brother, send a V500 to see if you've got the real strength. Just send me 500, and I'll help you negotiate a discount with Brother Yang."
Watching the barrage of comments flying across the livestream, Zhang Lin didn't pay much attention. His eyes remained fixed on Wang Yang; he was waiting for Wang Yang's reaction.
"Ah, a discount, huh?" Wang Yang sat in his chair with a smile on his face. "Sorry, my livestream never negotiates prices. 300 million is 300 million, not a single penny less."
Just as Wang Yang finished this sentence, the comments in the chat surged once again.
"As expected of Brother Yang, even when facing Rich Brother, he's always like this. If he says no bargaining, there's no bargaining."
"Indeed, in Brother Yang's stream, I've never seen anyone haggle. After all, the things in Brother Yang's stream are all very cheap—too cheap, actually."
"But those were ordinary items before. This time it's an F-22 fighter jet model, and he's asking for 300 million right off the bat. Who can afford this price? Unless you're genuinely wealthy, who would be willing to spend 300 million on a model? Besides, this model isn't even worth 300 million, right?"
"Is it any of your business? Brother Yang can sell it for however much he wants. Even if he sold it for 3 billion, it wouldn't have anything to do with you. Seriously, are you a busybody? Do you live by the ocean? Because you're acting like you have a wide reach."
"Good grief, is this the quality of Wang Yang's fans? Getting flamed just for leaving a comment? I'm out, I'm out. I'm never coming back to this stream again."
"Get lost. A troll is a troll. Don't ever come back to the stream."
"Sigh, let me say something fair. Honestly, spending 300 million on a model like this really isn't cheap. This Rich Brother also said he hoped for a small discount. What if this Rich Brother places an order the moment he sees a discount? I think you shouldn't give up on such a good opportunity for a trade, Brother Yang."
"You don't think making a model like this is easy, do you? Brother Yang's model is comparable to an exhibition-grade piece, perhaps even exceeding it. The cost to manufacture such an F-22 model is immeasurable. 300 million isn't much at all."
"Exactly, exactly! So, what, it has to be free from Brother Yang for you to be happy?"
"Good grief, I can't even tell how many trolls and genuine fans are in the stream anymore. I can't tell, I really can't tell!"
Zhang Lin watched these comments, his brow furrowing slightly. As a military veteran with a deep-seated dream of flight, he had a certain understanding of these fighter jet models and various types of military equipment.
Although Wang Yang's asking price of 300 million was a bit inflated, and the overall value might not quite reach 300 million, it wasn't as abysmal as the comments in the stream were making it out to be.
If Wang Yang's F-22 model was truly comparable to an exhibition-grade piece, or possessed quality exceeding that, then a price of 300 million wasn't entirely unacceptable. After all, within the entire Kyushu region, it seemed only Wang Yang was selling F-22 fighter jet models, and of such high-level quality at that. If one missed it, it might be gone forever.
Of course, he also felt that Wang Yang might not be able to sell these two F-22 models quickly, but what if he did? What if they were sold, and he missed this chance? Who knew when another F-22 model of the same quality would appear?
"Honey, what are you looking at?"
Just then, Duan Yue’e, wearing a bathrobe and a facial mask, emerged from the bathroom. Swaying her slender waist and moving her full, round hips like a harvest moon, she sat beside him and cast her eyes toward the phone screen.
"Watching a stream? F-22... fighter jet? This stream is actually selling an F-22 fighter jet!" Duan Yue’e gasped in shock, her eyes filled with amazement.
She knew absolutely nothing about military hardware. She only heard about it occasionally from her husband, and she knew that even before he joined the army, he had a dream of flying, though he hadn't been able to fulfill it later on. However, over the years, she had heard him talk countless times about the F-22, the F-35, and the development history of Kyushu's own fighters, from the J-6 all the way to the current J-20. So, she did have a shallow understanding.
Seeing the stream openly selling an F-22, she was indeed surprised.
"How is that possible? It's just a model," Zhang Lin laughed. "But this model is truly realistic. It looks just like a real F-22 fighter jet."
"Oh, it's a model..." Duan Yue’e let out a sigh of relief. "Is it realistic? If it's realistic, you could buy one. You've always wanted to be a pilot, haven't you? Buy it, keep it in the warehouse, and sit in it once in a while to get a feel for it."
Zhang Lin’s eyes lit up. "You think I should buy one to keep at home, too, right?"
"Of course. You love fighter jets so much, and since it’s a model—a model that's for sale—you can absolutely buy it." Duan Yue’e tapped her mask gently and asked, "By the way, how much is this person selling it for?"
"300 million!" Zhang Lin thought for a moment and held up three fingers.
Duan Yue’e’s hand hung in mid-air. She twisted her slightly stiff, fair neck and stared at her husband with wide eyes. "300 million?"
"That's right. 300 million for one, and there are only two," Zhang Lin nodded.
Duan Yue’e was stunned for a long while, her expression complex. "Honey, I think you should reconsider whether you want to buy it."
"It's not that I don't want you to buy it, but his asking price is simply too outrageous. I've checked before—a fighter jet model costs only a few million at its cheapest, and even the most expensive ones don't cost more than eighty-odd million. But this person is asking for 300 million; he's clearly trying to swindle a sucker."
Zhang Lin waved his hand. "The price is indeed a bit expensive, there's some inflation, but I just saw the interior of the fighter jet. It's exactly the same as the original. Whether it's the proportion of the buttons or all the dimensions of the control console, from what I can see, it's no different from a real F-22!"
"But even so, 300 million is too expensive! It's already more expensive than this villa of ours," Duan Yue’e frowned.
It wasn't that she was stingy with money. Honestly, the villa they lived in was worth over 200 million, and there was over a billion in liquid capital in the company's accounts. If one tallied up their assets and the cash the couple had on hand, their total net worth was easily over ten billion. A mere 300 million wasn't much.
But if that 300 million was being spent wisely, she wouldn't say a word, as the company's success today was entirely due to her husband's hard work. However, she couldn't watch her husband get played for a fool, spending a massive premium of 300 million on a model that might only be worth a few tens of millions, or perhaps not even that much.
Isn't that just obviously trying to swindle a sucker?
