Bo Xingjue sensed Han Li’s silent complaints and suddenly shot him a sharp glance.

Han Li immediately put on a solemn expression.

The captain’s instincts were as keen as ever. He really ought to stop making careless remarks in the future.

“Haha.” Yan Ningxi gave an awkward laugh. “I... I’ve already said everything I was supposed to say.”

She was wrestling with another matter in her mind.

Should she tell Bo Xingjue about the uranium deposit’s coordinates right now?

The sooner she informed the country, the sooner the government could stop worrying about the uranium reserves and begin making new strategic plans.

She had considered emailing the government, but she was afraid they would not believe her—or bother verifying the information—and would instead trace the email back to her and arrest her as a suspicious person.

After all, everything was tied to one’s real identity these days.

There was also a chance her email would go straight into the spam folder without ever being opened.

Yet she was not certain that Bo Xingjue would believe her either.

Although she had helped his niece, this involved national interests. Who knew whether Bo Xingjue would set personal feelings aside and detain her as well?

Seeing the troubled expression on Yan Ningxi’s face, Bo Xingjue and Han Li exchanged a glance. They did not urge her, patiently waiting for her to confess on her own.

She was clearly about to reveal the truth behind the four incidents she had encountered one after another.

Neither side realized that they were not on the same wavelength at all.

After thinking for a long while, Yan Ningxi suddenly said solemnly, “I have a friend.”

Bo Xingjue and Han Li: “...”

Here it came—the classic “I have a friend” routine.

Unaware of what they were thinking, Yan Ningxi continued, “She told me before that she might have discovered some very important mineral resources, but she doesn’t know whether the government would believe her if she reported it. What do you think she should do?”

Han Li looked deeply disappointed.

He had thought she was going to explain the truth behind everything that had happened to her over the past few days.

He asked casually, “What mineral resources did she discover?”

“Uranium.”

“Oh, uranium.” Han Li repeated the word absentmindedly. A moment later, his body suddenly stiffened, and his voice rose sharply. “What did you say? Uranium?”

Bo Xingjue’s expression also turned extremely serious in an instant.

As police officers, they both knew how important uranium was to the country—and how desperately their nation lacked it.

Yan Ningxi nodded. “Yes, uranium. Apparently, there’s quite a lot of it. If it were used without restriction, it could probably last for decades, or even more than a century.”

More than a century!

Han Li was tremendously excited, but after thinking it over, he felt it was unlikely. He gave Yan Ningxi a sidelong look. “You’re not deliberately trying to distract us, are you?”

Trying to divert their attention from the four cases of the past few days.

Yan Ningxi looked baffled. “Distract you from what?”

Han Li stared at her innocent expression, his face filled with conflicting emotions.

She was a fresh university graduate, after all, and there was still a clear, almost foolish innocence in her eyes.

No—not foolishness. Purity and naivety.

That expression actually made him feel guilty. How could he suspect someone so innocent?

Bo Xingjue asked seriously, “How did she discover it? And how did she find out that the uranium could be used for so long?”

Discovering a uranium deposit was an extremely complicated matter. It was impossible for one person to find it by herself.

Yan Ningxi fell silent.

She knew it. One lie required countless more lies to support it.

What a nuisance.

“Can I not say?” Yan Ningxi furrowed her brow. “Just assume that I lost too much blood yesterday and was talking nonsense.”

She would report it anonymously after all.

Bo Xingjue: “...”

Han Li: “...”

This was definitely a threat.

What she really meant was: If you keep pressing me, I won’t say anything at all.

Han Li took back his earlier impression that she was foolish—or rather, innocent.

Bo Xingjue knew that a normal person would not joke about the country’s mineral resources. “If you don’t want to reveal the source, we won’t ask. You can give me the location of the uranium deposit, or you can go to the government building yourself. It’s up to you.”

Han Li raised his brows. “Still, I suggest that you give the location to Captain Bo. He would never conceal it from his superiors. If you go to the government building and happen to encounter someone with ulterior motives, it may take much longer for the uranium to be put to proper use by the country. You might even be thrown out immediately.”

Yan Ningxi stared at Bo Xingjue suspiciously.

Could it be that his identity was more complicated than that of an ordinary police officer?

“All right.” Compared with government officials she did not know, she trusted Bo Xingjue more. “May I have some paper and a pen?”

Han Li immediately handed them to her.

Yan Ningxi quickly wrote down the coordinates, tore off the paper, and placed it in Bo Xingjue’s hand.

Han Li leaned over to take a look. “There’s actually uranium here? I remember that area was bought by a company planning to develop it into a tourist attraction. It was even reported in the news.”

Bo Xingjue’s expression suddenly grew grave. “That company seems to have foreign capital behind it as well.”

Yan Ningxi’s body jolted. If there really was uranium there, then that company was highly likely to have a problem.

Bo Xingjue had clearly reached the same conclusion. He asked solemnly, “Miss Yan, are you certain these coordinates really came from your friend?”

“Absolutely.” Strictly speaking, the system could also be considered her friend.

“All right. I’ll report this immediately. Thank you for providing the information.”

Yan Ningxi said, “As a citizen of Huaxia, it’s what I ought to do.”

Bo Xingjue and Han Li did not ask any further questions. Even if they pressed her about the four incidents, she would not reveal the truth.

Knowing that Yan Ningxi and Yu Xiangrui were unwell, they drove them home in a police car.

Yan Ningxi was indeed somewhat exhausted, and after returning home, she went straight to sleep for another hour.

After they left the police station, Bo Xingjue took the uranium deposit coordinates and went directly to the government building in South City.

When the security guards saw him, not one of them stopped him. They allowed him to pass without obstruction.

As soon as he reached the door of an office, he heard loud voices coming from inside.

“I’m furious. Those foreigners are utterly shameless. They’ve quoted three times the previous price for this order. Why don’t they just rob us outright?”

“What can we do? Their country has abundant uranium. Still, they’ve gone too far this time.”

“The way they spoke just now, it was as though they thought we would agree to any price they named.”

“We absolutely cannot agree. Otherwise, we’ll only encourage their arrogance, which will put us at a serious disadvantage in the future.”

“But if we refuse, where are we supposed to find a substitute?”

“Exactly. If many of our projects are delayed, the costs will be even higher, and other countries will laugh at us.”

The air fell silent for a moment.

If only their own country had discovered sufficient uranium reserves.

Bo Xingjue knocked on the door. When the people inside noticed him, he quickly entered.

“Uncle Song, I have something important to report.”

“That concludes today’s meeting. We’ll discuss the rest next time.”
