Chapter 24: Do You Need a Woman to Keep You Company?

Chen Xuewen’s words initially caught Master Hou off guard, but he soon burst into laughter.

"Hahaha, young man, you’re quite sharp."

"However, you are still too naive."

"Now that you’re already here, do you really think it would be difficult for me to obtain the rest of your leverage?"

Following Master Hou’s cue, the bodyguards in the room quietly began to close in on Chen Xuewen. Judging by their posture, they were ready to take him down.

Chen Xuewen remained unfazed, calmly stating, "Master Hou, do you have any idea how many people I killed tonight?"

"I killed eighteen people at Zhou Wancheng’s villa tonight."

"That includes Zhou Wancheng, his son, and the witness who framed me."

Master Hou frowned. "What? Are you trying to scare me?"

Chen Xuewen shook his head. "I’m not trying to scare you; I’m telling you that I have no way out."

"I’ve killed so many people. If you don’t help me, I won't survive for long anyway."

"Since that’s the case, what difference does it make if I die here or outside?"

He glanced at the men surrounding him and sneered, "So, even if you capture me, don't even think about getting your hands on the rest of the evidence!"

Master Hou’s expression turned cold. He stared deeply at Chen Xuewen and said in a chilling voice, "Hmph, I don’t necessarily need the other half of that evidence."

"This half is already enough for me."

"Besides, do you have any idea how massive an issue it is to have killed eighteen people?"

"Do you really think I would risk helping you clean up this mess just for the other half of the evidence?"

"If this isn't handled perfectly, it’s a sure way to invite disaster upon myself."

Chen Xuewen replied, "Master Hou, I’m afraid this is no longer up to you."

Master Hou paused. "What do you mean?"

Chen Xuewen smiled faintly. "If you don’t help me, then the rest of the evidence will be mailed to law enforcement agencies in every jurisdiction."

Master Hou laughed dismissively. "And what does that have to do with me?"

"Do you think I’d be afraid just because you’re threatening me with other people’s business?"

Chen Xuewen said calmly, "Master Hou, I am the one who killed Zhou Wancheng, and the very last place I appeared was here at your residence."

"From here on out, whether I die in your home or get arrested by the authorities, you are the last person who saw me."

"If that evidence is sent to the authorities, who do you think those powerful figures will suspect is pulling the strings behind the scenes?"

Master Hou’s face changed abruptly. He suddenly understood what Chen Xuewen’s true intentions were.

By giving him this ledger, Chen Xuewen was dragging him into the mud!

From this point on, no matter how he dealt with Chen Xuewen, he could never wash his hands of the matter.

Once the evidence in this ledger was exposed, those powerful figures, faced with impending catastrophe, would undoubtedly lash out at anyone nearby.

Master Hou took a deep breath, gritting his teeth as he glared at Chen Xuewen. "Kid, you didn't come here to negotiate today, did you?"

"You came here specifically to drag me into this!"

Chen Xuewen smiled thinly. "Master Hou, I learned a lesson while I was in prison."

"If you encounter a problem you cannot solve on your own, the best way to handle it is to drag those with power into the water with you."

"Once you force them onto your side, they will naturally find a way to resolve the situation."

Chen Xuewen looked at the ledger on the table and laughed. "I don’t have the ability to utilize this evidence."

"But you, Master Hou, are different."

"If you help me, this evidence will be yours to use, and it will earn you a fortune."

"If you don't help me, then we might as well just go down together."
