As Chen Xuewen began to eat, his body slowly started to recover.

During this time, the old man came every day to teach Chen some things.

Some were methods of killing, while others were survival techniques.

For example, the first survival rule the old man taught Chen was: "When something seems off, there must be something wrong."

He emphasized that one must always think thrice and understand the logic behind things before making decisions.

He also taught ways to read people's words and expressions, as well as how to gauge their hearts.

Through learning, Chen realized that the old man was incredibly knowledgeable and well-versed in many areas.

Moreover, the old man's insight and vision were far beyond those of ordinary people.

This clearly showed that before entering prison, the old man was no simple person.

Chen tried to ask about the old man’s identity, but the old man looked at him with a half-smile and said, “Young man, I’ll teach you another survival rule.”

“Don’t be too curious.”

“Those who are curious often die young.”

After saying this, he patted Chen on the shoulder and said, “Don't ask too much about who I am.”

“Just remember, my surname is Du.”

Ten days later, Chen’s injuries had mostly healed. The hospital doctor examined him and told him to pack his things because he would be sent back to the cell that night.

Chen glanced at the clock on the wall; it was just past two in the afternoon.

After a moment’s thought, he suddenly said, “Doctor, can I go back now?”

The doctor looked at him in surprise. Many inmates didn’t want to leave the hospital ward, trying to stay as long as possible.

But Chen actually wanted to leave early?

The doctor didn’t interfere further. Once Chen left the ward, he was no longer the doctor’s concern.

“I will arrange for the guards to escort you back.”

The doctor turned to make the arrangements.

Old Du was nearby cleaning and, seeing the doctor leave, came over to Chen and asked, “Why the rush to go back?”

“They’re working now.”

Chen glanced at Old Du and whispered, “There are eight people in the cell tonight—all under Scar’s command.”

“If I go back tonight, do you think I have a chance to survive?”

“Going back now at least gives me a chance to fight!”

Old Du was momentarily stunned, then looked at Chen deeply and smiled. “Not bad, you really are a talent.”

“Good. I’ll be watching closely.”

“Remember what I said: if you survive this, I’ll help you get out of prison.”

Chen clenched his fists, his gaze resolute.

Soon after, Chen was returned to the cell.

As Old Du had said, the people in the cell were working.

Their group was repairing the rooftop.

Chen was taken directly to the rooftop and handed over to the guards there.

The workers on the rooftop saw Chen return and immediately erupted into noise.

Especially Scar’s men; they shouted and jeered at Chen, proclaiming that he was doomed.

Had the guards not driven them away, a fight would have broken out on the spot.

But Scar, missing one eye, still glared viciously at Chen and made a throat-slitting gesture.

Chen seemed oblivious and, after listening to the guards’ instructions, began to work.

Scar quietly crept up behind Chen, gritting his teeth: “Chen, you ruined my eye. This debt isn’t over between us.”

“I came back early from the hospital just to wait for you.”

“When we get back to the cell, you’ll see how I deal with you!”

Chen’s expression remained cold as he glanced at Scar.

Scar’s eyes flashed with rage. “Damn it, still not satisfied?”

“Fine, fine!”

“Just wait until tonight back in the cell. I don’t believe you can be so tough!”

Chen said nothing, only staring at Scar with growing murderous intent.

Scar felt increasingly uneasy and gritted his teeth: “Damn it, keep looking, and tonight I’ll gouge out both your eyes!”

Chen took a deep breath and turned to look around, then suddenly faced Scar again.

Scar was about to speak when Chen suddenly moved.

With the force of a raging bull, Chen grabbed Scar around the waist and charged toward the edge of the rooftop.

Everyone was completely taken aback.

By the time they realized something was wrong, Chen had already leapt off the roof with Scar in his arms, and a loud thud echoed below.

Everyone was stunned.

This was the fourth floor!

Was Chen really trying to die?

People rushed toward the edge, and the guards, startled, blew their whistles and hurried to maintain order.

But no one dared to back away; they all watched in shock at the scene below.

On the ground, Scar lay face-up, while Chen was sprawled on top of him.

Because Scar was beneath, Chen’s fall was cushioned somewhat, so he wasn’t badly hurt.

Scar, however, was in a terrible state with multiple fractures and was spewing blood.

Even so, Chen didn’t let him off.

Under everyone’s gaze, Chen grabbed Scar’s head and slammed it violently against a nearby wall.

One slam.

Two slams.

Three…

Blood flowed from Scar’s head, and he was powerless to resist.

Everyone was dumbfounded.

All prisoners here were fierce and combative, but none had seen such brutality.

Chen was trying to kill Scar outright.

The guards on the rooftop shouted angrily, “Chen Xuewen, stop!”

“Chen, don’t do anything foolish!”

“Let him go!”

Chen ignored them and kept banging Scar’s head.

At that moment, guards below rushed over and restrained Chen.

Scar, covered in blood and barely conscious, was carried away.

The head of the guards stormed over, pointing at Chen and yelling, “Chen Xuewen, are you crazy?”

“You know you’ve only been sentenced to over twenty years.”

“But you gouged out his eye last time and now beat him like this.”

“This will make the judge sentence you to death!”

Chen wiped the blood from his face, stepped forward, and shouted, “Kill me!”

“Kill me now!”

Bloodied and wild-eyed, his roar was terrifyingly fierce.

The guard captain stepped back in fear; he had never seen such madness.

The surrounding prisoners turned pale.

They were fierce, but not insane.

Who wouldn’t be afraid facing a madman bent on death?I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
