Upon receiving Zhang Feng’s call, Viper was completely dumbfounded.

Originally, he hadn't taken Chen Xuewen seriously at all, viewing him merely as a reckless young man who would quickly learn his place after a bit of a beating.

Yet, who could have foreseen that the situation would develop completely beyond his expectations?

After several clashes, not only had they failed to do any real damage to Chen Xuewen, but his own side had suffered significant losses.

Worse still, a journalist had been injured. If this matter were blown out of proportion, it would spell massive trouble.

Consequently, as soon as the call ended, Viper immediately contacted Feng Bao, ordering him and his men to pull back at once.

Feng Bao and his crew had already smashed a huge hole in the gaming parlor’s front door and were poised to charge inside when Viper's order arrived, forcing them to retreat with a string of curses.

Meanwhile, Zhang Feng and his subordinates quickly rushed to the scene.

Seeing Wang Guiwen nursing his injuries alongside the shattered camera on the ground, Zhang Feng grimaced; this incident had blown up quite a bit.

Fortunately, however, the film had been destroyed. Without evidence, there was no way to prove who was responsible.

Zhang Feng immediately had his men secure the scene and took Wang Guiwen back to the station to make a formal statement.

Once that was handled, he quietly called Viper, instructing him to keep his men from causing any further disturbances until the storm had blown over.

Viper’s face turned livid with rage upon hearing Zhang Feng's instructions, but utterly helpless, he could only tell Feng Bao and the others to hold off on any rash actions for the time being.

Looking bewildered, Feng Bao asked, "Snake, brother, aren't we being a bit too scared of a mere little reporter?"

Viper glared at him and cursed, "Damn it, if he were just a reporter, I wouldn't give a damn!"

"What I'm afraid of is someone making a big issue out of this!"

"Still, you were quick-witted to destroy the film. With no evidence, this whole affair will eventually blow over and fade away. Nothing to worry about!"

Feng Bao nodded, then gritted his teeth and snarled, "Damn it, this whole setup must have been orchestrated by that punk Chen Xuewen."

"I never would have guessed that bastard was so devious despite his young age."

"My younger brother is still in the hospital undergoing emergency surgery, and there's an eight-in-ten chance that bastard put him there."

"Snake, brother, what do you say we do about this?"

Viper offered a cold, sinister smile. "You've been following me for so long; do you still need to ask how to handle things?"

"There's only one fate for anyone who dares to cross us."

"Just because we can't smash his shop doesn't mean we can't touch him!"

"Once that punk is released tonight, you take a few men and finish him off!"

A grin spread across Feng Bao's face. "Got it, Snake, brother. We'll do just as you say!"

"Damn it, no matter what, we're going to cripple that bastard tonight!"

...

It was well past four in the afternoon by the time Chen Xuewen finished giving his statement and left the station.

When he returned to the Brothers Gaming Parlor, Lai Monkey and Wang Zhendong were sitting by the entrance chatting idly.

Inside the parlor, only a sparse handful of patrons were playing games.

Meanwhile, proprietors from several nearby shops sat outside their doorways, casting curious glances over, mostly waiting for a good show.

Spotting Chen Xuewen's return, Lai Monkey and Wang Zhendong hurriedly stepped forward to greet him.

"Brother Wen, how did it go?" the two asked with concern.

Chen Xuewen smiled faintly. "Same as usual."

"Zhang Feng must have taken some benefits from Viper; he was heavily biased toward their side."

"After recording the statements, they only detained two people and let everyone else go!"

"As for compensation for our gaming parlor, they didn't utter a single word about it!"

Lai Monkey sighed. "Well, Brother Wen, things have turned out pretty well considering how they escalated."

"Viper’s men haven't come back to cause trouble all afternoon."

"As for compensation, we probably shouldn't hold out any hope!"
