Chapter 5: The Excited Lizzy

Island Stock Exchange Trading Hall.

“Chen Hao, do you really know how to trade stocks?”

“I’ve heard stock trading is very risky!”

“Many people lose everything because they get addicted to it!”

Lizi noticed that many investors in the hall were anxiously watching the fluctuations in stock prices. Every time the price shifted, some would painfully scratch their heads, while others cried out in anguish.

This was her firsthand experience of the dangers of stock trading!

“Don’t worry!” Chen Hao said confidently. “I’ve studied stock trading deeply before, so I’m different from other investors. I’m sure I can make money.”

Just then, his stomach growled loudly. Since waking up this morning, he hadn’t eaten anything, and he barely had anything last night. So he was hungry.

“You’re hungry, right?” Lizi smiled, covering her mouth as she heard his stomach growl.

Strangely, she wasn’t as angry with Chen Hao as before. Perhaps it was because they were both from the mainland, or because he hadn’t stolen money from her bag last night. These little things had softened her feelings toward him.

Now, instead of disliking him, she found him strikingly handsome, even making her heart skip a beat. Moreover, his words carried a powerful confidence that only increased her fondness for him.

“Alright,” Chen Hao nodded.

At that moment, his gaze remained fixed on the electronic display board, watching every stock price change with intense focus, as if he had forgotten his hunger.

Seeing Chen Hao so absorbed, Lizi didn’t say anything more. She left to buy some food from a nearby shop.

Chen Hao concentrated all his attention on the stock price movements. Since his rebirth, his memory and calculation abilities had become extraordinarily sharp. His brain functioned like a supercomputer, quickly storing the fluctuations of each stock and forming price trend charts in his mind.

Using these charts and his prior knowledge of the Island’s stock market, he analyzed and predicted the future trends swiftly.

Repeated tests showed his predictions were almost always accurate, filling him with excitement.

It seemed he was right. With his previous life’s insights and enhanced abilities from rebirth, he could definitely make a fortune in the Island’s stock market.

“Have some bread,” Lizi’s voice came softly to Chen Hao’s ears.

Startled from his excitement, Chen Hao accepted a piece from her hand and took a bite. His eyes still fixed on the screen, he said, “Quick, call Xiangsheng Securities and ask the trader to buy 5 lots of Longchang Real Estate for us.”

“Ah?” Lizi was momentarily stunned.

“Come on, hurry up and call Xiangsheng Securities!” Chen Hao urged as she hesitated.

“What’s the phone number?” Lizi asked.

Chen Hao was a bit speechless. When they opened their account at Xiangsheng Securities earlier, the receptionist had already given them the service number—a very easy-to-remember one. How could Lizi have forgotten so soon?

He quickly told her the number.

Lizi then pulled out her phone and dialed Xiangsheng Securities. Soon, a trader answered.

The trader asked for the account name and the stock to buy or sell.

Lizi promptly gave the account name but had forgotten which stock Chen Hao wanted to buy. She lowered the phone and whispered, “What did you say to buy again?”

“Buy 5 lots of Longchang Real Estate,” Chen Hao repeated.

“Oh!” Lizi nodded and told the trader, “Please buy 5 lots of Longchang Real Estate for me.”

“Okay,” the trader responded and started operating on the computer.

After hanging up, Lizi curiously looked up at the electronic board to find Longchang Real Estate.

She quickly located it. The stock price was 1.12 Hong Kong dollars per share and still falling.

“Chen Hao, you just bought 5 lots of Longchang Real Estate. What does ‘5 lots’ mean?” Lizi asked. She had never traded stocks before and didn’t know.

“A lot is the unit of stock trading. Usually, the minimum purchase in Hong Kong stocks is one lot,” Chen Hao explained.

“One lot can be 100 shares, 500 shares, or even 1,000 shares, depending on the company’s regulations.”

“For Longchang Real Estate, one lot equals 1,000 shares,” he added.

“So you bought 5 lots—that’s 5,000 shares?”

“Yes,” Chen Hao smiled.

“The current price is 1.12 HKD per share, so you spent 5,600 HKD to buy 5,000 shares of Longchang Real Estate?” Lizi asked.

“That’s right.”

“Will the stock price go up?” Lizi asked, curious.

“Heh,” Chen Hao chuckled. “Longchang Real Estate’s stock has been falling lately. How could it possibly rise? You shouldn’t have bought it.”

Before he could finish, a nearby investor wearing blue interrupted with a sneer, “Hey, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Longchang Real Estate has been a sinking ship for a long time. How could it go up?”

“Ah? The stock price has been falling all this time? Does that mean we’ll lose money?” Lizi’s face fell as she looked at Chen Hao.

“Don’t worry,” Chen Hao said confidently. “Longchang Real Estate has already hit bottom. It will rise soon.”

“Pretty boy, don’t pretend to know more than you do,” the blue-clad investor mocked. “Everyone’s bearish on Longchang Real Estate. There’s no way it’ll go up.”

Just then, the stock price on the electronic board changed. Longchang Real Estate, once falling, suddenly rose.

The price jumped from 1.12 HKD per share to 1.20 HKD per share.

Lizi excitedly pointed at the screen, grabbing Chen Hao’s arm in delight.

“It’s up! It’s up! Longchang Real Estate is rising…”
