Chapter 31: Giving You a Chance
Jiang Kai clapped his hands and called out toward the card table, "Alright guys, stop playing for a moment! Director Jiang is here. Hurry up and come sign the contracts."
Qiao Wenbai threw his cards down casually and stood up with a grin. "Finally! If you hadn't come, I would have won all their money by now."
Geng Cang, Wu Jie, and Feng Yiming also tossed their cards aside and lazily gathered around.
Jiang Kai introduced them enthusiastically, "This is Director Jiang Ye, the tour guide for this Qin Dynasty Tour Group Three. Director Jiang, these four are the brothers I mentioned to you—Qiao Wenbai, Geng Cang, Wu Jie, and Feng Yiming. They’re all our own people!"
Jiang Ye nodded and reached out with a smile. "I've heard much about you all. It’s a pleasure to meet you."
Qiao Wenbai was the first to shake his hand, raising an eyebrow. "Jiang Kai has been singing your praises to the heavens. We’d like to see if you’re really as divine as he claims."
Geng Cang, hands in his pockets, chimed in sluggishly, "Exactly. Don't let us down."
Jiang Kai quickly smoothed things over. "Don't worry, I've seen Director Jiang's abilities with my own eyes. He's absolutely legit! Once you sign the contract, you'll be grinning from ear to ear later on!"
Wu Jie let out a scoff. "Fine. We’re idle anyway, might as well play along with you."
Feng Yiming simply picked up the contract and flipped through it. "Enough talk, where do I sign?"
Jiang Ye pointed to the signature line, and the four of them signed their names with practiced ease.
Jiang Kai rubbed his hands together in excitement. "That’s it! You’ll definitely thank me later. Trust me, you can't go wrong with this!"
Wu Jie capped his pen, tossed the contract onto the table, and asked with a raised brow, "Signed. When do we set off?"
Geng Cang leaned in, his tone tinged with mockery. "Yeah, I heard you can take us back to the Qin Dynasty two thousand years ago. Don't keep us waiting too long."
From their tone, it was clear that none of them believed a word of it; they were only joining the tour as a favor to Jiang Kai.
Jiang Ye smiled, unfazed by their skepticism. Once they were on his tour, they would eventually believe.
"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the bus will arrive at the residential entrance at nine o'clock tomorrow morning to pick you up."
Feng Yiming stuffed his hands in his pockets and asked lazily, "And what if something unexpected happens?"
"Rest assured," Jiang Ye said calmly. "If there are any changes, I will notify you by text message in advance."
Qiao Wenbai shrugged. "Fine, we’re ready to leave at any time anyway."

Jiang Kai patted his brothers on the shoulders and grinned. "Don't be impatient! Tomorrow you’ll get to see Director Jiang's true abilities!"
After collecting the travel fees from the four, Jiang Ye found it inconvenient to stay longer. He gave some instructions to Jiang Kai, asking him to relay them to the four men. He knew full well that they might not listen to him, but they might heed Jiang Kai’s words. After finishing his instructions, Jiang Ye took Zhang Minghui and took his leave.
Jiang Kai had intended to see them out, but Jiang Ye stopped him. The security guards at the Yunxiang Residence complex would bring an electric cart to shuttle them, so there was no need for them to walk to the main gate.
Villa No. 7
Zhang Huaiming sat in his study, tapping his fingers on the rosewood desk. His phone screen displayed a message from Jiang Ye: Villa No. 2 (Qiao family), No. 10 (Wu family), No. 18 (Feng family), and No. 22 (Geng family)—these four homeowners had actually been selected.
He squinted, clicked his tongue, and couldn't help but sigh, "They really hit the jackpot."
Just then, the butler knocked and entered, whispering, "Mr. Zhang, I’ve just found out. Last night, nine homeowners in the complex had small accidents—the owners of No. 3, 12, 9, and so on... Everyone is fine; it was a close call."
Zhang Huaiming frowned, tapping his finger on the list. "Boss Zhou at No. 9? Ms. Lin at No. 12?"
Seeing the butler nod, his gaze darkened.
These were neighbors he was on good terms with. He hadn't expected them to be so lucky as to be chosen by the higher-ups.
After a moment of contemplation, he picked up his phone and quickly selected several names from the resident directory—Boss Zhou (No. 9), President Jiang (No. 11), Ms. Lin (No. 12), President Li (No. 13), and President Zhao (No. 17). He then created a new group chat with a simple, direct title: [The Qin Dynasty Trip].
As soon as the message was sent, President Jiang (No. 11) replied immediately: "Old Zhang, what’s going on?"
Zhang Huaiming typed directly, "A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is before you all. Are you interested in experiencing time travel? A trip to the Qin Dynasty two thousand years ago? It’s real time travel."
The group members were filled with question marks upon reading this.
President Jiang sent a face-palming emoji: "Old Zhang, has your account been hacked? Time travel two thousand years back? Is your kid playing with your phone?"
President Li (No. 13) followed, "Mr. Zhang, don't joke around in broad daylight. I’ve just finished dealing with the company's bad debts."
President Zhao (No. 17) sent a voice message, with the sound of mahjong tiles clicking in the background: "Old Zhang, if you’ve had too much to drink, go to sleep early. We’ve got a golf game with Old Zhou tomorrow."
Watching the skeptical messages pop up in the group, Zhang Huaiming initiated a six-person video call.
As the five small squares lit up one by one, the faces on the screen were full of astonishment.
President Jiang sat in front of his desk in a suit, holding a financial report; President Li looked exhausted, rubbing his dark circles while dealing with documents; President Zhao, at the mahjong table, looked quite relaxed.
"Believe it now?" Zhang Huaiming turned his phone camera to pan the study, finally focusing back on his own face.
Even after proving that it was Zhang Huaiming himself on the screen, they still refused to believe in time travel to the Qin Dynasty.
No one would believe such an absurd thing!
Ms. Lin (No. 12) spoke up: "Old Zhang, have you been under a lot of pressure lately?"
Zhang Huaiming realized they had misunderstood, so he pointedly asked, "Old Zhou, Ms. Lin, I’ll ask you one thing. Did the authorities rush to have the deeds for your villas transferred last night?"
"Yes," Zhou Xingfu admitted with a nod.
Lin Ru followed suit, "That did happen."
Presidents Jiang Yijun, Zhao Hong, and Li Qingyi were shocked to hear this. They hadn't caught wind of it.
"This happened last night?" Jiang Yijun was stunned.
"What exactly is going on?" Zhao Hong realized something was wrong; he had a faint feeling that perhaps what Zhang Huaiming said was true.
Li Qingyi frowned, "Could this be related to this 'time travel'?"
Zhang Huaiming nodded, "I won't hide it from you all. This afternoon, the authorities brought a young man to see me, asking me to go on a tour to the Qin Dynasty. As far as I know, there are ten spots for this tour. And last night, ten homeowners in our complex received requests from the higher-ups to transfer their property deeds."
"Do I need to say more? Why would the authorities be in such a rush to transfer our villas?"
In fact, without Zhang Huaiming elaborating, everyone in the group was already convinced.
"The higher-ups originally wanted to monopolize these ten spots, but for some unknown reason, they paused."
"A word of warning to you all: the authorities don't seem to have let Director Jiang Ye, who is leading the tour, know their true identities."
Zhang Huaiming continued, "Everyone, the opportunity is here. Whether you want to go or not is up to you to decide. If there are those who don't want to go, I will find others."
