Chapter 30: Discovering Something That Can Make Xiao Sheng Strong
Yu Danxue was dazzled by the array of goods, finding everything wonderful. "Xiao Sheng, what is this?"
"This is shampoo, for washing hair. There are many types and scents; at home, we use one that was specially developed."
"Is it the one that smells nice and has lots of bubbles?"
"That’s the one."
"I really like that one. It isn't overly fragrant, but it cleans very well."
No matter what Yu Danxue asked, Yu Zhisheng explained with great patience, promising to buy her some snacks before they returned. Of course, he made sure to skip the things that shouldn't be bought.
"Strengthening... strengthening the body?" Yu Danxue suddenly froze in her tracks upon seeing an item labeled for physical conditioning.
"Xiao Sheng, this is perfect for you." She pointed to the canister of protein powder and told Yu Zhisheng with pleasant surprise.
"Pfft!"
The guests and staff burst into laughter. They were all trained professionals, but unless they truly couldn't help it, they wouldn't laugh.
[Hahahaha!!!]
[I can't, I’m laughing so hard I’m hiccuping.]
[Is Yu Zhisheng’s "frailty" a label he’ll never shake off?]
[You can tell that the little grandaunt is genuinely worried about Yu Zhisheng’s health. The moment she finds something good for him (something to stop him from being "frail"), she thinks of him immediately.]
[Yu Zhisheng may still be alive, but his social reputation is dead.]
Yu Zhisheng’s face twitched, and for a moment, he didn't know what kind of expression to wear.
"...Little Grandaunt, my body is perfectly fine. I don't need to eat these."
Yu Danxue gave him a suspicious look. "But you couldn't even carry two grown men. If that’s not being frail, what is?"
Yu Zhisheng took two deep breaths and decisively changed the subject. "Little Grandaunt, do you want to go look over there? There are lots of candies."
Seeing him like this, Yu Danxue said earnestly, "Xiao Sheng, you shouldn't be like this. It’s a very bad habit."
"Your body is weak, but as long as you nourish it properly, you can become strong."
The laughter around them grew even louder.
Yu Zhisheng felt his soul leaving his body. "Little Grandaunt, I was wrong. Can we go look at the candy now?"
He gritted his teeth inwardly. Once this show finished filming, he would definitely ramp up his exercise regimen to show his little grandaunt that he was not frail.
[Guess what Xiao Sheng is thinking right now?]
[He’s definitely thinking about how to get strong so the little grandaunt won't call him frail again.]
[...You guys have pushed the "Yu Zhisheng is frail" topic onto the trending list again. You really won't let him off, will you?]
Yu Danxue was satisfied with this, and taking Yu Zhisheng’s hand, she continued forward. "Xiao Sheng, we must not hide our illnesses for fear of the doctor."
Yu Zhisheng, "...Right, right, right."
He didn't even need to look online to imagine the state of the internet right now. Everyone was surely calling him frail. Oh, his poor, ruined reputation.
The guests continued to browse the supermarket. The four children were obsessed with the colorful candies and stood by the display, refusing to leave.
"It’s all candy, wow." Yu Danxue’s eyes were wide; it was her first time seeing so many beautiful candies. There was so much food here, and according to Xiao Sheng, the prices were quite cheap. This world was truly wonderful.
Feng Doudou and the other two children stared at the candies, but none of them asked to buy any.
"I checked, and the price of this candy isn't expensive—twelve yuan a catty. Shall we pool our money to buy some for the children?" Han Qian asked.
Yu Zhisheng and the others had no objections.
"Let’s buy half a catty," Zhong Guoxing suggested. "Children shouldn't eat too much sugar. If we buy too much, they’ll eat it all at once."
"Children have no self-control; they’ll eat whatever is in front of them."
It was the first time Yu Zhisheng had heard of such a thing, and he was quite surprised. "Teacher Zhong, do children really do that?"
Zhong Guoxing could tell he lacked experience in childcare and replied kindly, "Children lack restraint. When they find something they like, they’ll finish it in one sitting."
"My two children were often like that when they were small. A few times, they even developed a fever from overeating."
"That’s why you can't buy too much food for children at once. They don't have self-control and don't know when they're full; it’s very easy for them to overeat and get sick."
[People who haven't raised children really don't know these things. You can tell Teacher Zhong is a good father.]
[My daughter is exactly like that. If I don't tell her, she’ll finish everything at once, then feel miserable and get sick.]
[Many of us adults lack restraint and self-control, so it’s not strange for children to be this way. That’s why adults need to pay close attention to children.]
Yu Zhisheng took these words to heart, thinking that he should be careful with his little grandaunt and not let her eat too much.
"Let’s pool our money to buy half a catty of candy."
In the end, the supermarket owner gifted them a large bag of various snacks and drinks, including quite a bit of candy.
"Thank you for coming to my supermarket and bringing me so much business. Please take these as a token of my gratitude." He smiled very kindly. "I insist you accept them. The traffic you’ve brought to my store is immense."
In just this short while, he had sold hundreds of yuan worth of goods, not to mention the fans who would come to shop later.
The four guests discussed it and accepted the owner’s gift, though they only took ordinary food items rather than anything expensive.
Yu Zhisheng gave each of the four children a piece of candy.
Yu Danxue held the colorful candy, examined it, and then carefully unwrapped it, placing the round treat into her mouth.
"So sweet."
But it wasn't as delicious as the candy from her hometown; she still preferred the sweets from back home.
"We should head back," Zhong Guoxing said, checking his watch. "The bus ride takes over half an hour, and we still need to buy groceries and cook. It’ll be noon by then."
The guests gathered at the bus stop to wait for the bus back to the village. Two minutes later, the bus arrived. Since it was work hours and not a particularly busy area, the bus was quite empty.
The four adults each paid two yuan, while the children rode for free. The staff paid their own fares. The group boarded the bus and found seats.
This was Yu Danxue’s first time on a bus; she had previously only ridden in high-end luxury cars. She curiously examined the vehicle, noting that this "iron box" was even better than the ones Xiao Zheng and Xiao Sheng owned.
"Xiao Sheng, how much does this iron... this vehicle cost?"
Yu Zhisheng had a bad premonition. "A few million, perhaps." He then explained how much a few million was.
Yu Danxue listened, dazed by the sheer amount of money.
"Xiao Sheng, can I buy one of these vehicles?" She opened her arms to gesture. "This vehicle is large and spacious; it’s much more comfortable than yours and Xiao Zheng’s car."
"Besides, this vehicle can hold so many people. That way, I could go out and play with my friends all together."
Feng Doudou and the other two children turned to look at her, nodding in firm agreement.
"Anning, you are so right! I love the bus too. It’s big and comfortable; it doesn't feel cramped like a sedan."
"It’s just too expensive. One costs several million; my family can't afford that."
"Can we pool our money to buy a bus together?"
