Chapter 5: A Masterful Performance of Innocence

She turned her body slightly toward Yu Zhicheng, standing very close to him. “I heard you’re filming a modern romance drama recently? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t do those anymore?”

When she learned that Zhicheng was going to participate in this variety show, she had specially asked her sponsor for help just to get on the program.

Her plan was to create a buzz about her and Zhicheng, hoping to use this as a way to successfully marry him and become a wealthy socialite.

Yu Zhicheng showed clear disdain, quickly stepping away from her and fanning himself with his hand. “Please don’t stand so close to me, and don’t act like we have some special relationship.”

He said coldly, “Besides being colleagues on that one drama, we haven’t been in contact at all.”

He was well aware of Duan Lele’s little schemes and calculations.

Back on the set, she had used all sorts of open and covert tactics to seduce him, even hiring internet trolls to hype up their “CP” (couple pairing), stirring up all kinds of rumors and throwing dirt on him.

Once he spoke, the live comments split into two camps.

One side were Yu Zhicheng’s fans defending him and calling Duan Lele shameless.

The other side were Duan Lele’s fans and haters, all criticizing Yu Zhicheng.

“Ugh! Can that shameless Duan Lele just stay away from my brother? She was the one who deliberately hyped the CP to trap him, and now she has the nerve to do this—she’s beyond shameless!”

“One of the female celebrities I hate the most is Duan Lele. Ever since that drama, she’s been openly and secretly tying my husband’s name to hers, always saying ambiguous things to cause misunderstandings.”

“That bastard Yu Zhicheng almost assaulted our Lele. She was too scared to make a fuss because of the Yu family. Now he dares to put on that ugly face—how is he still alive?”

“When Duan Lele talks politely to Yu Zhicheng, he’s so rude and says things like that. It shows how vile he really is.”

Duan Lele’s eyes reddened, looking pitiful and wronged as she said softly, “Zhicheng, we were colleagues after all, and now we’re on the same show. I just wanted to ask you a few questions. Why are you treating me like this?”

As she spoke, she subtly turned toward the camera and moved closer to Yu Zhicheng.

This caused some viewers to scream excitedly in the live chat.

“Ahhh! Sister and Yu Zhicheng look so perfect together, it’s making me lose my mind!”

“Please lock Sister and Yu Zhicheng down! I’ve already brought the civil affairs office here. You two must get married right now!”

“I knew it, my CP is real!”

These comments provoked Yu Zhicheng’s fans into furious cursing.

“Back off! Where did this non-recyclable trash come from? Our brother said ages ago he hates that white lotus Duan Lele, and you dare to latch on? I might have to get a rabies shot after this.”

“Damn Duan Lele, using these tricks to tie up our brother again? If I don’t tear you apart today, I’ll take your last name!”

“Hmph!” Yu Zhicheng sneered, unwilling even to glance at Duan Lele. “Please stay far away from me. Just seeing you annoys me!”
