Volume 1, Chapter 33: The Culprit Behind the Poisoning Has Been Found
Inside the culture box was a peculiar-looking plant seedling, its leaves a rare, pale shade of purple.
"Did he really find it?"
"This is wonderful!"
She cradled the object as if it were a priceless treasure, her voice trembling with excitement.
Fu Beichen watched this scene, feeling a bitter knot in his chest. Based on what he had learned about Luo Xingchen over this period, the man did not seem to have any particularly close friends; apart from his painting, he had very little contact with anyone.
Three days later, Ouyang Fan’s father returned. After visiting Ouyang Feng, he did not say much. After all, he knew he had provided very little guidance to the boy, and now that things had reached this point, he could not shirk his own responsibility.
Providing quiet answers, Megaera remained indifferent to anything unrelated to Fiona herself, and the vibrant green of the leaves confirmed that Fiona’s life was secure.
At this moment, Zhou Yingluo could hardly believe it. Xiao Han, who had occasionally echoed her sentiments in the past, was now giving her the cold shoulder over such a trivial remark. It seemed she had overestimated her current influence over him.
"Alright. Mona, leave this to me." Since Nika had started working alongside Tang Lele, she had grown more confident. Though she had always been stubborn, she previously wouldn't have dared to openly offend the other orcs in the tribe.
"Human life only truly manifests its existence when it is kept busy," Karthas chuckled softly, though his staff twirled slightly in his hand, as if he were eager to be rid of the trouble that was Fiona.
The Golden Scale Guards stepped forward, directly knocking off the Emperor Liang’s crown and stripping him of his dragon robe before binding him. Zhu Pinghai tried to struggle to save the Emperor, but it was all in vain.
Roger nodded and followed her inside. The other onlookers, filled with envy, had no choice but to leave. When would they ever receive such favor from a female?
The Northwest was plagued by wind and sand; the environment was arid and the climate harsh. It was difficult for those not born and raised there to adapt. Was Nie Yihai’s decision to go there a strategic retreat, or was he simply trying to escape the embarrassment?
"I once loved her," Lu Liaoyu said calmly, elegantly pushing up his glasses with his index and middle fingers. Though he appeared reserved, it was not an excuse, but the honest truth.
After sorting the thread and hanging each strand neatly on the rack, she dusted off her hands and headed out.
Zhao Yuan used her poor postpartum health as an excuse to refuse to take her to any banquets that required a couple’s attendance. Claiming to be busy with work, he never took her out except to accompany their children. Only when her parents—Zhao Yuan’s parents-in-law—visited did she receive a few days of his care and tenderness.
Listening to Zhu La’s words, Ke Zhehan did not seem surprised; he slowly loosened his grip on her arm.
It appeared that it wasn't looking for food on the ground, but rather deliberately trying to avoid something.
The sudden kiss was vastly different from what she had imagined. This punitive kiss made Lu Xue deeply uncomfortable; she struggled with both hands, trying to push Lin Han away.
Lu Tian could only imagine how ecstatic his father would be when he heard the news. He licked his parched lips, dry from breathing heavily in his excitement, and rubbed his hands together.
He waited silently for Zhu La to regain her memory. Even if those memories were painful, he was willing to bear them alongside her.
"The death was recent. The cause was a sharp blade piercing the kidney, leading to fatal hemorrhagic shock," the forensic examiner stated solemnly.
It was from this that he realized two things: first, the person guarding the well was one of Fang Xu’s men; second, Fang Xu’s act of transferring the blood meant he would inevitably plant a gu-poison in the well.
Lu Li returned with the cigarettes and pulled one out for Su Lie. Her pale, slender fingertips pressed the lighter as she leaned over to light his cigarette.
