Volume 1, Chapter 33: I Will Take Care of Him for You
Qiao Nian’an was completely seated on the washbasin, held firmly by someone else, unable to get down at all. She lowered her head, but her gaze lingered on the man’s long, graceful neck and the enticing movement of his Adam’s apple. She admitted that Fu Yunzhen’s flirtation was utterly irresistible.
After a moment’s contemplation, Qiao Nian’an slightly raised her head, her tender, rosy lips slowly approaching his. But in just an instant, she pulled away. Some flames were better left unprovoked. Some people, once parted, should remain so—no room for any lingering ill thoughts.
Fu Yunzhen sensed her attempt to flee. He grasped her chin with one hand, forcing her to meet his eyes. Seeing her try to escape, he took the opportunity to press closer, lowering his handsome head to kiss her slightly parted lips. His kiss was domineering, possessive—each inch overwhelming her defenses.
Only when he sensed she was nearly suffocating did Fu Yunzhen release her. He had almost lost control. Yet, pressing close to her ear with heartfelt emotion, he whispered, “Nian Nian, it’s okay. You take one small step toward me in the pharmaceutical business, and I’ll take ninety-nine steps toward you.”
She kissed him because there was still a place for him in her heart. He truly loved her, so deeply it nearly consumed him. Qiao Nian’an found herself breathless from his kiss.
“Now that you’ve had your fill, get out of my room quickly. Your fiancée is waiting for you outside,” she said, wiping her lips.
She did so deliberately, right in front of him—to show him her disdain.
Fu Yunzhen was reluctant to let go. His deep eyes fixed unwaveringly on the bloodstains on her lips. His mouth had been bitten, and naturally, the blood was on her lips. If not for that, he wouldn’t have let her go—he could have kept kissing her.
His large hand gently caressed her delicate face, his thumb softly wiping the traces of blood from her lips. But Qiao Nian’an turned away, refusing to meet his gaze. Finally, her eyes fell on the intimate garment he still held in his palm like a precious treasure.
Following her gaze, Fu Yunzhen looked at his hand and then smiled faintly, speaking softly, “You wore black lace for me, didn’t you?”
He had told her before how much he liked her in black lace.
Blushing, Qiao Nian’an pushed him away, her voice stiff, “Who said it was for you? It’s a new product from my friend’s studio. I was just trying it on.”
To earn money, Qiao Nian’an took any job. Her friend happened to run such a boutique. As her friend, naturally, she was promoting the new line—and she didn’t have to pay for it. It was mutually beneficial.
Fu Yunzhen lifted her off the washbasin, his expression serious as he looked into her eyes. “Baby, no matter how much my grandparents offer you or what conditions they propose, don’t agree to them, and don’t marry Fu Jingchuan.”
He stared into her eyes and said, “Nian Nian, I’ve found out that six years ago it was my mother who forced you to break up with me. I don’t blame you—I just don’t understand why you didn’t tell me.”
Listening to him, Qiao Nian’an looked up at him. “Break up… wasn’t it you who wanted an arranged marriage?”
Fu Yunzhen was taken aback. After a moment, he said, “No, I didn’t want an arranged marriage.”
Not only did he want Luo Yunzhu to obediently cancel the engagement, but he also wanted Fu Jingchuan to do the same.
“Nian Nian, do you have some leverage that Fu Jingchuan is holding over you? Tell me—I’ll handle it.”
Qiao Nian’an didn’t want to trouble him or get too involved. “No need. I’ll handle it myself. If you help me, aren’t you afraid they’ll accuse you of stealing?”
After all, Fu Jingchuan called Fu Yunzhen “uncle.” If word got out that Fu Yunzhen had taken his nephew’s fiancée, it would be explosive news.
Fu Yunzhen was unconcerned. “You can only belong to me.”
Though their relationship had been secret, it didn’t mean they weren’t a couple. Fu Jingchuan was the thief, trying to steal what was his.
Fu Yunzhen’s large hand gently caressed her face as he said earnestly, “Nian Nian, as long as you are certain of your feelings for me, leave the rest to me.”
Qiao Nian’an did not answer, instead pushing him away. “Your fiancée is waiting anxiously outside.”
