Volume 1, Chapter 15: Baby Stabbed Him!
Su Yu’s pupils contracted sharply, a turbulent storm rising in her heart—how could this be? Hadn’t Si Yan left?
"Baby, come here."
Si Yan tilted his chin toward Su Yu. His gesture was commanding and irresistible, yet deep within his eyes lay a cold warning, as if saying, "Don't be disobedient."
Li Hanyan’s grip on Su Yu’s hand tightened, the warmth of his palm seeping through her skin. Leaning close to her ear, he slipped a dagger into her hand and whispered a reassurance meant only for the two of them: "Don't be afraid!"
He then looked up at Si Yan, his gaze as sharp as a blade, his voice filled with fury and accusation: "Si Yan, you are forcibly seizing my fiancée! What exactly are you trying to do?"
His fiancée!
Heh.
Si Yan let out a cold, mocking laugh, his eyes sweeping over Li Hanyan with undisguised contempt. "You aren't married yet. Even if I take her, what of it?"
Si Yan had underestimated this Li Hanyan. The man was as physically imposing as he was; he was no weakling or mere pretty boy, but a wolf, just like him. His gaze fell upon the woman hiding behind Li Hanyan, a sense of inexplicable rage surging within him. She didn't resist when she was pressed against another man, yet she struggled the moment she was in his arms, as if she would rather throw herself into the sea.
Seeing that Su Yu remained motionless, his patience evaporated. "Baby, come here."
"Don't make me say it a third time!"
As Si Yan spoke, he flicked his wrist slightly. The gesture seemed casual, yet it was a silent command. The mercenaries surrounding them understood immediately, pivoting their weapons in unison. A row of dark, hollow muzzles was instantly aimed directly at Li Hanyan.
"No!"
"Don't hurt him!"
Su Yu’s heart tightened. Without a second thought, she stepped forward, arms spread wide to shield Li Hanyan. Her voice was choked with tears, but her eyes met Si Yan’s gaze with stubborn defiance. "I will come over, but you must let him go!"
Her selfless act was like a spark igniting the explosives piled up in Si Yan’s heart, instantly infuriating him. She was eager to cling to other men, yet she kept him at a distance. Why?
Where was he inferior to this Li Hanyan!
Si Yan’s expression darkened like the sky before a torrential storm. Without a word, he strode toward Su Yu. Before she could react, he yanked her away from Li Hanyan.
"Si Yan, don't hurt him!" Su Yu cried out, her voice trembling as she struggled with all her might, trying to break free from his grip. "I beg you, please let him go!"
But Si Yan was blinded by rage; he could not hear a single plea. He shoved Su Yu aside, clenched his fist, and swung it violently at the face of Li Hanyan, who was trying to reclaim her.
"Fire!" Si Yan roared, his eyes filled with mad, homicidal intent.
"No!"
Seeing this, Su Yu lunged forward without hesitation, throwing her arms around Li Hanyan and shielding him with her own body. "No one is allowed to touch him!"
"Let him go, Si Yan, I beg you."
"I’ll be good, I’ll listen to everything you say."
"Just don't hurt him!"
The surrounding mercenaries exchanged glances, hesitant to fire at Su Yu. They turned their muzzles toward the sky and pulled the triggers. The sound of gunfire was jarring in the night air.
Si Yan roughly pried the two apart, scooped Su Yu up into his arms, and ordered without looking back, "Lock him up and teach him a lesson!"
As she was carried over his shoulder, Su Yu’s tears fell like broken pearls, splashing onto Si Yan’s back.
"Si Yan, don't hurt him!"
"Put me down!"
She struggled, her voice thick with sobs. "You lunatic, let me go!"
"You and I were never meant for the same world!"
She screamed and cursed all the way until Si Yan threw her onto the soft bed. He loomed over her immediately, bracing his hands on either side of her, his eyes churning with overwhelming jealousy. "Did you enjoy it when you held him?"
She had never once taken the initiative to hold him, and she had held that man so tightly!
His large hand lightly gripped her throat, his touch a warning. "Baby, that wild man is only here to steal you away."
"Bullshit!" Su Yu glared at him, her eyes red, her voice trembling with rage. "You’re the wild man! I hate you!"
Hardly had the words left her lips when a sharp "rip" echoed through the room.
Su Yu’s clothes were torn apart by Si Yan. The shredded fabric was tossed aside, scattering across the floor. The man’s kiss, heavy with possessiveness, descended upon her, the suffocating force leaving her breathless.
"You bastard! Let me go!"
Su Yu fought desperately, pushing against his chest with all her might. "Si Yan, let go! Don't touch me!"
But her cries and resistance fell on deaf ears, for Si Yan was completely consumed by jealousy. He was like a wild beast out of control, his eyes filled only with paranoid obsession, his movements growing increasingly violent.
As the final barrier was torn away, Su Yu felt the blood rush to her head, her entire body trembling with fury. A thought flashed through her mind; she grabbed the dagger Li Hanyan had slipped her and thrust it toward Si Yan’s right chest without a second thought.
The wound was not deep, but it was enough to make the frenzied man freeze.
She watched as the crimson in Si Yan’s eyes gradually faded. Confirming that he had regained a shred of reason, she let out a half-breath, though she could not stop shaking.
Si Yan paused.
He looked down at the bleeding wound on his chest and slowly rose, his voice as hoarse as if it had been ground by sandpaper, his eyes filled with agonizing disbelief. "Baby, you... were you trying to kill me?"
The hands holding the dagger shook even harder, her fingertips turning white from the pressure. Her heart was a chaotic mess of fear and confusion, as if gripped by an invisible force, leaving her unable to breathe.
She hadn't. She hadn't wanted to kill him.
It was he who had lost control.
Seeing the expanse of red before Si Yan, Su Yu’s heart hammered against her ribs. She had killed someone...
Large tears rolled from Su Yu’s eyes, soaking the torn collar of her shirt. A flash of desperate indignation crossed her eyes; she suddenly reversed the direction of the dagger, aiming the tip straight at herself.
"Stop!" Si Yan’s pupils shrank. With lightning-fast reflexes, he kicked at her wrist.
"Clang—" The dagger fell to the floor, the sound piercing the silence of the room.
Su Yu, already disheveled, lost her balance from the force of the kick and stumbled to the floor. Perhaps the terror and despair had drained her of all strength; her vision went black, her body went limp, and she fainted.
Fortunately, Si Yan caught her just in time.
