Chapter 33: Is This Really My Home?
Jiang Muyu paused, her chicken leg halfway to her mouth. She looked at Jiang Yinuo with a smile. "What did you say?"
Hu Hu took a step back, widening the distance to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
"Ahem..."
Jiang Muqing cleared his throat and kept his head down, focusing on his own drumstick.
Hu Feng looked from one to the other, but ultimately decided to say nothing.
Jiang Yinuo felt that the current situation was a bit strange, but given his limited capacity for observation, he couldn't quite put his finger on why. So, he repeated himself.
"I said I won't hold it against you, just eat your own food..."
The next second, the chicken tail in Jiang Yinuo’s bowl vanished.
"???"
Before he could react, a plate of bitter melon was thrust in front of him, and he was forced to take a huge mouthful.
"...Mmph, who cooked this... why isn't there even an egg in it... I hate bitter melon... ah..."
His final cry of protest was silenced by even more bitter melon being shoved into his mouth.
Hu Feng looked away. The Third Young Master had returned at the worst possible moment; he hadn't even had time to warn him before the two collided.
After finishing the entire plate, Jiang Yinuo felt like he had become a bitter melon himself.
"You're bullying me! How could you do this?" Jiang Yinuo felt aggrieved. "You stay in my house, beat me and my brother, eat my family's chicken, and now you're bullying me too..."
Jiang Muyu clapped her hands. "I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Jiang Muyu. This is my house, and I am your Great-Aunt."
Jiang Yinuo’s eyes welled up with tears, his face full of confusion. "Huh?"
He looked at the others at the table. Hu Hu nodded rapidly. "That's right! Great-Aunt is amazing!"
Jiang Yinuo clenched his fists. He knew Hu Hu wasn't reliable—he’d defected so quickly! But since his second brother and Uncle Hu were both silent, this woman must really have some tricks up her sleeve. He secretly resolved to kick this self-proclaimed "Great-Aunt" out and show her exactly whose house this really was.
However, after lunch, Jiang Yinuo began to doubt his reality once more.
"What did you say? You want me to pull weeds?"
Jiang Muyu nodded, looking at him with confusion. Was the boy hard of hearing? She grabbed his ear and raised her voice. "I said, go pull the weeds! Do you understand?"
Jiang Yinuo covered his ear and scrambled backward. "I understand, I understand..."
This woman had such a terrible temper! Why did she resort to violence at the slightest provocation?
Jiang Yinuo grumbled internally, but when he turned around, he saw his second brother already pulling weeds. Because he was in a wheelchair, Jiang Muqing’s movements were slow and laborious, a truly heartbreaking sight.
Jiang Yinuo nearly burst into tears. He walked over and said, "Second Brother, go get some rest. It’s just some weeds, I’ll do it!"
This wretched woman—it was one thing to treat him this way, but to force a sick person like his second brother to work? She had no conscience!
Jiang Muqing paused and took off his gloves. "Alright, then I’ll go over to the doorway. You’d better hurry."
Jiang Yinuo then watched helplessly as his brother pushed his wheelchair into the shade by the entrance.
"..."
Was this right?
Jiang Yinuo took a deep breath. It didn't matter. His agent had mentioned a farm-life reality show coming up; he would just treat this as early practice. But the sun was so harsh—would he get sunburned? Was his second brother really just going to watch him work alone? And where had Hu Hu gone to slack off?
Jiang Yinuo pulled weeds absentmindedly, his eyes drifting back toward the house. Several shadows were moving inside, seemingly carrying something.
Soon, Hu Hu was the first to emerge, followed by a lounge chair.
After Jiang Muyu and Hu Hu set the chair down, they rigged up a phone stand and kept adjusting the camera angle. Jiang Yinuo felt something was wrong and wanted to retreat, but the next second, Jiang Muyu waved at him from nearby.
"Jiang Yinuo! Come here and say hello to the babies in the livestream!"
"..."
— [Who? Who did the streamer just say?]
— [Is the streamer's yard that big? A yard this size in Beijing... such wealth...]
— [Jiang Yinuo? Is that lump in the yard Jiang Yinuo?]
— [Holy cow, streamer, are you really a fan of Jiang Yinuo? That girl was right!]
— [This yard is such a mess. If you have money to buy a yard, why not clean it?]
Jiang Muyu adjusted her expression a second before the camera turned to her, waving at the lens with a smile.
"Good afternoon, babies! This is my metaphysics livestream. If you want a fortune reading, just send a Carnival gift!"
"Oh, you guys didn't know? This is my second cousin, and Jiang Yinuo is my third cousin!"
Second Brother covered his face, refusing to face reality.
The fans who had just joined were bewildered:
— [So that's it. I was wondering why Little Feather, who usually streams elsewhere, suddenly changed locations.]
— [As expected of relatives, they're all so good-looking...]
— [Streamer, your yard is huge! Why don't you tidy it up?]
Jiang Muyu sighed, looking regretful. "You might not know, but due to a villain's scheme, my family went bankrupt. Look at my second cousin's legs! Look at my third cousin's brain..."
"For the sake of this family, I have to stream to make money. I hope to earn enough soon to restore our family's glory! Babies, please follow and help your streamer revive our family honor!"
Jiang Muqing: "..."
Would anyone actually believe that?
['Little Rain Drizzling' sent Carnival x1]
['Year After Year' sent Carnival x1]
['Electrocuted While Writing Late at Night' sent Carnival x1]
['Said I Wouldn't Buy Anymore' sent Carnival x1]
...
"Thank you all for your support! Thank you! I won't forget your contributions!"
Jiang Muyu tossed a notebook to Jiang Muqing, her tone filled with excitement. "Write it down! These are all benefactors of the Jiang family!"
Jiang Muqing obediently took it and began to record.
Not far away, Jiang Yinuo felt like he was living in a dream. Was this really his second brother? Had he actually come home? ...Though, being out in the sun did feel quite nice; he felt much more alert.
"Our first caller is 'Electrocuted While Writing Late at Night'... Baby, what happened? Are you okay? If you're hurt, I'll be so worried!"
Jiang Muyu clicked to accept the connection. Soon, the silhouette of a girl appeared on the other side of the screen.
Jiang Muyu turned up her phone brightness, but she still couldn't see clearly. She asked, "Baby, are you in the same time zone as me? Could you open the curtains? Or turn on a light?"
"Okay, okay... just a moment, streamer..."
One could vaguely see the figure on the screen stand up. After some rustling, the lights in the room were turned on, and it was as bright as day...
