After a dozen minutes, Song Jianian gently petted all the free-range little animals, then took photos—only of the animals, never of herself.

“Let’s go,” Song Jianian whispered as she approached.

“Don’t want to look around a bit more?”

“We only bought a cup of coffee. I feel awkward staying here too long.”

“The owner would be thrilled if you stayed longer. Why feel awkward now?”

This little 210-day-old baby was somewhat too sensitive.

If I were the owner, I’d want her to stay all day, bringing in customers.

“Well, then let’s not linger. Let’s head back.”

Song Jianian felt embarrassed to hang around; Chen Yuan said nothing more since the task was done.

Why did I feel like such a scoundrel?

After leaving the underground mall, the two returned to the school.

Chen Yuan had intended to take her to find Wang Chuyue and Cao Yumeng, but she said she wanted to go to the library.

Truly a child that doesn’t give her father any worry...

Song Jianian returned to school, while Chen Yuan took a ride to Jiang Wanyi’s place.

“Such heavy dark circles?”

Jiang Wanyi’s skin was very fair, making the dark circles quite prominent.

Yet, her gray tank top and loose pants still conveyed a comfortable, homely vibe.

“I barely slept last night. Every time she cried, I had to feed her and burp her. I don’t even know how I got through it.”

“Just hang in there a few more months. Around her first birthday, her sleep will stretch longer, and you’ll finally get some decent rest.”

“By the time she’s one, I’ll probably be exhausted beyond repair.”

“You should reach out to your friends. Maybe you can find a reliable nanny. You can’t do this alone.”

“Yes, I’m already looking.”

Chen Yuan entered the room and saw two cups of iced Americano—one nearly empty, the other half full—evidence that Jiang Wanyi had been surviving on coffee all morning.

“Ya ya ya... ee ee ee...”

Seeing Chen Yuan, little Mi Li opened her arms wide.

Chen Yuan had no resistance; whenever he saw Mi Li, he wanted to hug her and press his face to hers. But, if he ranked his desires, he wanted to cuddle Song Jianian more.

All babies are the same, just at different ages; wanting to cuddle is perfectly natural.

Watching Chen Yuan pick up the child and soothe her to play, Jiang Wanyi had a fleeting illusion that Chen Yuan was the baby’s father.

After a while, hearing no movement in the house, Chen Yuan turned to find Jiang Wanyi asleep on the sofa.

Having never cared for a child before, and after a sleepless night, even iced Americano couldn’t keep her awake.

Chen Yuan found the baby’s little blanket and intended to cover Jiang Wanyi.

But the blanket was too small. After some consideration, Chen Yuan managed to just cover her navel.

A lifelong obsession for Chinese people.

Exhausted from the sleepless night, Jiang Wanyi was in a deep sleep, her breathing steady, with soft snoring.

She looked peaceful; lying on her side, the gentle curve of her waist was pronounced, revealing the mature elegance of a grown woman.

After a while, the baby got hungry.

Chen Yuan expertly prepared formula, cradled little Mi Li, and rested her on his arm, quietly watching her feed.

No wonder so many men want a daughter—they only grow cuter.

Once full, he gently patted the baby’s back to burp her. Mi Li soon fell asleep in his arms.

Just like last night, Chen Yuan carried the child to the bedroom, laid her on the small blanket, removed her diaper, and lightly covered her lower half with a thin blanket. Everything was settled.

Suddenly—knock knock knock—

The doorbell rang abruptly, and Chen Yuan immediately went to answer.

Jiang Wanyi and the baby were asleep; waking them would be bad.

At the door stood a JD courier, with several large boxes outside—the playpen and crawling mats they had ordered yesterday had arrived.

Chen Yuan gestured to keep quiet and quietly brought the packages inside.

He gently closed the door and turned to see Jiang Wanyi awake.

“Did the noise wake you?”

“I was so tired I fell asleep,” Jiang Wanyi apologized.

“It’s fine. You should rest some more. The baby’s asleep, and there’s nothing pressing now.”

“I did feel better after a little nap. I’ll wash some fruit for you—I forgot to offer you anything earlier.”

“No worries.”

Chen Yuan patted a box beside him. “Shall we unpack?”

“Yes, let’s set it up now.”

Chen Yuan began unpacking while Jiang Wanyi washed the fruit and brought it over.

“Find some scissors or a box cutter.”

“I’ll get one now.”

Jiang Wanyi found a box cutter and handed it to Chen Yuan.

Opening the box, they found the playpen panels and connecting parts.

Additionally, there was a baby slide and a simple rocking horse, all in pieces requiring assembly.

Jiang Wanyi felt overwhelmed; her hands-on skills were limited.

“Let’s eat some fruit first. No rush.”

“I’m fine. It won’t take long.”

Chen Yuan took a strawberry, bit into it—it was quite sweet.

Looking at the playpen and parts, he instantly knew how to assemble them.

Men always have a natural knack for this. It wasn’t complicated; just a glance was enough. Hands and feet were all that mattered.

Quick and nimble, he finished assembling the playpen in about ten minutes, then secured the screws.

Next came the slide and rocking horse, which were straightforward—just follow the steps.

“Need me to do anything?”

Jiang Wanyi stood nearby, wanting to help but unsure how.

“No need. Just watch.”

Afraid she might cause trouble, Jiang Wanyi stayed back quietly and observed.

Throughout, she realized Chen Yuan was a very reliable young man—far more dependable than she had imagined.

She recalled a phrase she’d seen on Douyin recently.

“Boyfriend power.”

Many young men nowadays were soft and weak, lacking masculinity, crying and whining over a small cut, even wiping away tears.

Chen Yuan was about their age but gave no such impression. He was truly impressive.

Not knowing what else to do, Jiang Wanyi ordered Chen Yuan a cold drink and stayed nearby, ready to assist.

Whenever Chen Yuan needed a tool, she passed it over. Their cooperation was surprisingly smooth.

After half an hour, the slide and rocking horse were also assembled.

“The quality is pretty good—sturdy enough. The baby should have no problem playing with them.”

“My daughter is quite lively. I worry she won’t sit still.”

“Then let her crawl on the floor. At this age, she needs to practice.”

“Yeah, I’ll listen to you.”

With the playpen done, the two spread out the mats.

Unintentionally, Chen Yuan noticed Jiang Wanyi kneeling on the floor, spreading the mats. Her chest naturally sagged, the size astonishing.

“You little rascal, focus on your work.”

Jiang Wanyi sat down on the freshly laid mat, and Chen Yuan smiled as he continued working.

But her mind was elsewhere.

Last night, she had resolved to talk to Chen Yuan about stimulating milk production, but now she hesitated, unsure how to bring it up...
