Chapter 50: This Is Simply Beyond Imagination
The Demon Suppression Division still needed to be visited—partly to obtain the suppressant, but more importantly, to gauge their attitude toward him.
If the matter of the black pendant were to be exposed, he would be doomed without their help. After all, the people from the Astral Demon Realm had even destroyed the entire Jin City in their desperate search for that artifact.
Now, his cultivation level had reached the eighth stage of the Awakening Realm. One more step forward would place him in the second-tier Spinal Realm, greatly enhancing his strength.
Yet compared to true masters, he was still insignificant—hoping everything would go smoothly tomorrow.
The emotional mist stored in the Mirror Lake space was nearly depleted.
Today, Ren Jie had undergone demonization twice and used the emotional mist to absorb and convert spiritual energy, raising his level and even closing the gap in his Broken Delusion Tree.
The consumption was immense. If he hadn’t collected a large amount of emotional mist again from the disaster site, it wouldn’t have been enough.
Although little remained now, it should suffice to last through the night.
He just didn’t understand why the second skill of his Broken Delusion Eye had yet to manifest.
Having reached the eighth stage of the Awakening Realm, he should have two skills by now. Why had only the Instant Eye awakened, with no sign of the other?
Could it be that he needed to absorb gene fragments or something similar to acquire the skill?
Lying in bed, Ren Jie’s thoughts drifted endlessly as his consciousness grew drowsy, gradually slipping into sleep.
Meanwhile, the treasure-stealing marten climbed out from under the covers, stood on the windowsill, stretched fiercely, flexed its front paws, and gazed out with blazing determination in its eyes.
A flash of white light, and its figure vanished without a trace...

Early the next morning, the alarm rang. Ren Jie sprang from bed like a salted fish suddenly revived.
His first action was to check the Mirror Lake space, fearing the emotional mist had run out and he might slip into a manic frenzy, doing something unbecoming.
But he was stunned.
How was there another whole lake of emotional mist? Had so much gathered just by sleeping overnight?
His gaze immediately fell on the treasure-stealing marten.
“You didn’t do anything disgraceful last night, did you? You followed my instructions properly, right?”
The exhausted marten lay beside Tao Yaoyao’s pillow and gave an “OK” sign, putting Ren Jie’s mind at ease.
After freshening up, Ren Jie was about to head out when he saw Anning standing absentmindedly behind the counter, lost in thought.
“(ง・ˇꇴˇ・)ว Aunt Anning? I’m heading out now. I’ll be back a bit late today.”
If time allowed, Ren Jie planned to make a trip to the black market to get two gene serums for Yaoyao.
But Anning grabbed his arm earnestly.
“Xiao Jie, I contacted a friend of mine. Her daughter is quite pretty and studies at Shenwu University. How about you two meet this weekend? A matchmaking date?”
“If you hit it off, then…”
Ren Jie was dumbfounded.
“Why are you suddenly saying this? No, no, I have things to do. I gotta go…”
He hurriedly dashed toward the door, but Anning called after him anxiously:
“Hey, hey, hey? You really won’t consider it? At this rate, sooner or later, you’ll end up on the wrong side of the law!”
Ren Jie: ???
But just as he stepped outside, he was stunned again. Early morning, seven or eight sheriffs were already back, lugging shovels and stools, searching for any clues.
Grandmothers, middle-aged women, and young brides clustered together, chattering nonstop, while several schoolgirls sobbed nearby.
Ren Jie sensed trouble, pretending to pass by and eavesdropping closely.
“Last night! That underwear thief came again! He managed to put all the stolen underwear back without anyone noticing.”
“Not even my newly installed surveillance camera caught him. It’s like seeing a ghost…”
“That’s not all. The underwear was all wrinkled and smelled weird. What perverted things did that twisted thief do to them? Just thinking about it drives me crazy!”
“Waaah! That’s nothing. Last night, I went to bed wearing two sets of underwear, but this morning I found myself wearing four—and one set was the very one I lost the day before yesterday!”
“This thief has been sneaking into my room while I sleep, doing the most despicable, beastly things two nights in a row! Waaah…”
Hearing this, Ren Jie’s face turned green, almost spitting out old blood.
No wonder so much emotional mist had been collected.
Marten, you really outdid yourself.
How do you manage to steal and then put them back on people?
Do you have to be so honest?
“Xiao Jie? How’s it going? Disaster or not?”
Ren Jie broke out in cold sweat, looking guilty.
(•́ω•̀ ٥) “Of course it is! Yaoyao is at home crying her heart out because of it. How hateful! Not even the sick are spared. If I catch him, I swear—”
The big guy beside him growled angrily:
“Yeah, if I catch him, I’ll dry him out and make him into medicine!”
Ren Jie turned pale.
(°﹏°〃) “Ahaha... medicine? That’s a first for me. You find him first, and let me know if you have news, okay?”
He spoke while quickly slipping away, thinking that even if the medicine was dried, it would have to weigh at least two jin...

This time, he didn’t take any detours or side jobs but followed the address given by Yeyue straight to the Demon Suppression Division headquarters.
But upon arrival, Ren Jie was dumbfounded.
Before him was a narrow alleyway, visible right to the end, with trash bins beside it and flies buzzing about.
“Is Yeyue messing with me? This is the Demon Suppression Division headquarters?”
He said this while glaring inside.
From around the corner of the alley came a voice:
“Talking bad about someone behind their back when they’re not around? And you’re quite punctual too.”
Yeyue stepped out from the corner, leaning against the wall and smiling at Ren Jie, raising her eyebrows.
Ren Jie’s eyes immediately widened, frozen on the spot.
At that moment, Yeyue wore only a pair of black shorts, the waistband adorned with a cute bow.
Her upper body was clad in a lace camisole, exposing large swaths of snow-white skin, showcasing her perfect figure in exquisite detail.
Aside from these two garments, she wore nothing else.
Ren Jie bowed slightly in respect, but his nose betrayed him, bleeding uncontrollably.

Yeyue blinked in surprise.
“Why are you staring at me? Why are you bleeding from your nose?”
Ren Jie opened his mouth but couldn’t find the words.
“It’s not my fault. How could I possibly look away when you’re dressed like that? Even looking away for a second would be disrespectful to you!”
Yeyue blushed at his words.
“Hmph, my outfit choice wasn’t in vain. This kid has pretty good taste after all.”
“Do you think this outfit looks good?”
Ren Jie widened his eyes.
“Of course! How could it not? By the way, do you usually dress like this? Aren’t you cold?”
Yeyue smiled proudly.
(︶◡︶๑) “Of course! My fashion sense is excellent. Cold? It’s summer—how could I be cold?”
“Stop standing there like a fool and come on!”
With that, she grabbed Ren Jie’s hand and led him into the alley.
Up close, Ren Jie was stunned.
He never expected Yeyue to be so bold.
“Where are we going? Weren’t we going to the Demon Suppression Division?”
As they spoke, Yeyue led him to the corner of the alley and flipped a switch on the wall lamp.
“That’s right. The Demon Suppression Division headquarters is underground because of its strategic importance. The surface branches are mostly administrative.”
The wall suddenly cracked open, revealing a hidden elevator before them.
“Come in. What are you standing there for?”
Ren Jie, bewildered, stepped into the elevator, standing beside Yeyue, his eyes scanning her.
“It’s understandable that the headquarters is underground, but you really go to work dressed like that? Doesn’t anyone manage you?”
Yeyue looked puzzled.
(๑•̌ࡇ•̑) “Why would they? The Demon Suppression Division isn’t as strict about appearances as you think. You can wear whatever you want.”
“And there are plenty of pretty girls in the division—many dress like me.”
Ren Jie’s eyes grew even wider.
∑(°口°๑) “What? They all dress like you? That’s... that’s way too avant-garde, beyond imagination...”
Yeyue was pleased by the compliment.
After all, he was just a young boy, still very interested in girls~
“Of course. It’s nothing. You’ll see once you get there…”
Ren Jie swallowed hard.
“I’m straightforward and not well-read. Don’t lie to me, okay?”
