Chapter 32: Three Sects and Six Clans
Gu Yaqing sighed.
"Mo Fei, I'm tired. Let's go."
With that, she turned and walked toward the jeep.
"Sister-in-law..." Lin Xuan followed closely behind her.
Lin Yaoxi just stared at Li Moxuan for a long moment before following suit. He had learned from Pan Yang that Xue Ming claimed Li Moxuan was a master of the innate realm, possibly backed by a sect. While not someone to be trifled with, his Lin family did not necessarily hold such sects in high regard. If Li Moxuan continued to harass their young mistress, he would not be so polite.
Lin Mofei looked at Li Moxuan.
"Mr. Li, Yaqing’s stance is quite clear. Please do not harass her any further. Regardless of whatever vows you shared in the past, she is my woman now, and I am capable of taking good care of her. Furthermore, if you are so desperate for female companionship, I know many daughters of wealthy families. No matter how many you want, it won't be a problem."
Lin Mofei spoke with great poise, though the subtext was clear: stay away from my woman.
Li Moxuan’s gaze fell upon Lin Mofei. The man was indeed impressive—so impressive that Li Moxuan felt the urge to crush him instantly. However, he did not yet know Gu Yaqing’s true feelings, and killing Lin Mofei might only cause her grief.
Lin Mofei sensed the murderous intent in Li Moxuan’s eyes but remained unbothered. Instead, he added, "Oh, by the way, there is something you might not know. Yaqing is the eldest daughter of the Gu family in Cloud City. Do you understand what that means?"
He boasted with smug satisfaction, showcasing his knowledge of Gu Yaqing. Li Moxuan naturally had not known this; he had only remembered her living in Peach Blossom Village. She had always avoided the topic and never mentioned it. It seemed there was more to the story.
"So... was your marriage a matter of status?"
Lin Mofei smiled faintly. "That is something Mr. Li does not need to know."
Li Moxuan spoke up suddenly. "I will get to the bottom of this. If I find out your motives are impure, I will wipe your Lin family off the face of the earth with a wave of my hand."
Li Moxuan released a surge of powerful energy, but Lin Mofei merely dismissed the threat as the impotent rage of a loser.
"Haha... It seems Mr. Li lacks the most basic understanding of his own standing." To him, Li Moxuan was nothing more than an ant provoking him. "Very well. I am getting married to Yaqing soon. You must come to our wedding; I will prepare a generous red envelope just for you."
Li Moxuan gave a cold, unyielding smile. "Very well. I will certainly prepare a grand gift for you both."
Lin Mofei snorted, threw the bank card back at Li Moxuan’s feet, and got into the black jeep, speeding away into the night.
Li Moxuan stood where he was, watching the jeep disappear. After a moment, everything culminated in a long sigh. Nothing is more helpless than the realization that times change and people drift apart.
Xiang Peng, standing nearby, shook his head helplessly. He stepped forward to offer advice. "Master Li, it was just a childhood romance. If you need, I can arrange hundreds, thousands of top-tier models for you, guaranteed not to repeat for an entire year. But as for the Lin family’s young mistress, we should just let it go."
Li Moxuan asked calmly, "What is the background of this Lin family?"
Xiang Peng explained, "Are you familiar with the three sects and six clans of Wu City? Those three sects control half the economy of Wu City, and the six clans have been passed down for over a century. Their foundations are deep and unimaginable. The Lin family is one of these six clans; they are far beyond the reach of companies like ours that have only existed for a decade or two. They have countless martial arts masters at their command. You must not provoke them. It’s really not worth it for a woman."
Li Moxuan smiled lightly. "Oh! Is that so?"
Xiang Peng looked conflicted, unsure if his advice had sunk in. He picked up the bank card from the ground and handed it back. "Master Li, your money..."
"Keep it. It’s yours."
"Huh?"
Before Xiang Peng could respond, Li Moxuan’s figure vanished instantly.
Xiang Peng took a deep breath. "Why is Master Li so eccentric? He demanded an astronomical sum from the Lin family earlier, but now he just throws away twenty million without a second thought. What is he actually planning?"
Liu Hua smiled bitterly. "President Xiang, I don't think a master of his level lacks money. I suspect his outrageous demands were intentional."
Xiang Peng nodded slowly. "That makes sense. So what is it he really wants?"
"Isn't it obvious? The fiancé of Lin Mofei."
Xiang Peng covered his face. "A master’s eye is truly sharp."
Liu Hua smiled. "Then why don't we start with women to properly flatter Master Li and build a relationship?"
Xiang Peng’s eyes lit up. "Understood. That can be arranged!"

The black jeep traveled along the mountain road in silence. Lin Mofei sat on the left in the back, and Gu Yaqing on the right.
"Say what you want to say," Gu Yaqing said, her voice icy. "Don't hold it in."
Lin Mofei smiled calmly, looking at her with tender affection, as if he would unconditionally forgive anything she did. "It's nothing. It only goes to show that I have an eye for talent and that my fiancée is exceptional."
Gu Yaqing’s expression was complex. It was precisely because of this that she found him unnatural. A man who never got angry or jealous no matter what happened was truly terrifying. She admitted that Lin Mofei’s character was impeccable and that he treated her with the utmost devotion, but she simply felt no affection for any man other than Li Moxuan. It was an emotion she could not cultivate.
Today, however, the appearance of Li Moxuan had caused ripples in her otherwise stagnant heart.
Lin Mofei said with a smile, "Don't dwell on it. The past is behind us; there's no need to take it to heart. I won't let anyone gossip about you. Though, that Li Moxuan is quite interesting—powerful and imposing. I just wonder what he wants now that he's back?"
Lin Mofei cast a pointed glance at Gu Yaqing. His words seemed to carry a hidden meaning. Gu Yaqing frowned. "Lin Mofei, speak plainly."
Lin Mofei turned his head to look at the scenery outside the window. "It means nothing. Don't be nervous. I was just making a small guess. Never mind, I won't say any more, or I'll end up being the bad guy. I trust that with your intelligence, Yaqing, you can make your own judgments."
Lin Mofei was a clever man who knew how to handle things with restraint. Some things were better left unsaid; as long as he planted the seed, his goal was achieved. As for the rest, he would let Gu Yaqing figure it out.
Just as Lin Mofei had anticipated, after hearing those words, Gu Yaqing frowned, her expression troubled. She had been away from Li Moxuan for so long. He had been missing for six years. Though she had searched for him in secret, there had been no word. Even she had begun to believe he was dead.
Yet now, he had reappeared. It was she who had chosen to leave back then; it wasn't Li Moxuan’s fault. But... perhaps their initial meeting had been a mistake. She simply hadn't wanted that mistake to continue. Now that he was back, was he here for her? Or was he here for... Xiao Xiao?
