Chapter 5: Are You Trying to Cheat Me?
“Little bastard? Are you insulting me?”
Li Moxuan shielded his sister behind him, his gaze cold as he looked at the two men who had just entered the room.
“Brother, don’t lose your temper. He’s an assistant director of the City Defense Office! We can’t afford to offend him.”
Sun Chengfu usually roamed the streets and alleys of Wushi City with his gang of urban enforcers, wielding power arbitrarily. Naturally, Li Moxuan’s sister, Li Moling, recognized him. Worry gnawed at Li Moling’s heart for her brother’s safety.
“Oh? From the City Defense Office?”
Li Moxuan remained unflustered, even chuckling softly. If he remembered correctly, Feng Jie from the Phoenix Women’s Prison had some connection to the City Defense Office of Wushi.
“You’re from the City Defense Office, so you must know Wang Fengxia, Feng Jie, right?”
Li Moxuan’s smile was faint, watching Sun Chengfu freeze in place.
Speaking of Feng Jie—though barely forty—her allure remained intact. Just a few days ago, when Li Moxuan had ‘massaged’ her, even the damp air of the returning south wind couldn’t dry her moisture.
“Feng, Feng Jie?”

Why the hell was his luck so terrible? He actually ran into this living deity and insulted her friend!
With that thought, Sun Chengfu’s heart jolted, his reflexes sharp. He immediately slapped Director Qi across the face.
“Smack!”
The crisp sound of the slap rang out, followed by Sun Chengfu’s heated expletives:
“Qi, you must have the heart of a bear and the courage of a leopard to dare treat Feng Jie’s friend like this!”
“Why aren’t you down on your knees apologizing to this brother right now?”
After speaking, Sun Chengfu plastered a smile and approached Li Moxuan, beginning to ingratiate himself:
“I sincerely apologize. The flood has swept away the Dragon King’s temple; family members don’t recognize each other anymore.”
“Mr. Li, your name has long been thunderous in my ears. Seeing you today, you truly are extraordinary.”
“Please forgive me for the oversight. Today’s incident is a clear misunderstanding. I already sent your photo to everyone in the hospital, yet they still made this grievous mistake.”
“Rest assured, Feng Jie is my big sister. Since you are her friend, you are family to me. Your matters are my matters.”
“After today, I will handle this matter seriously and give you a proper explanation!”
When it came to flattery, Sun Chengfu, the deputy head of the City Defense Department, clearly outmatched Director Qi. Sensing the situation turning sour, he shifted all blame onto Qi.
Li Moxuan silently watched Sun Chengfu’s performance, his expression unreadable. This guy was obviously in cahoots with the hospital staff and was hardly a good man.
At this moment, Dai Qin’s eyes nearly popped out as the situation twisted:
“Director, Deputy Sun, are you mistaken? Li Moxuan is just a poor bastard with no parents, living off his sister’s organ sales! How could Deputy Sun possibly…”
“Smack!”
Before he finished, Dai Qin’s face was struck with a solid slap.
“Mr. Li hasn’t said a word, what nonsense are you spouting? How dare you spread rumors about Mr. Li! Watch as I beat this blind fool to death today!”
Sun Chengfu raised his hand again, preparing to strike Dai Qin, but Director Qi hurried forward to intervene.
“Deputy Sun, you are magnanimous. Perhaps you should look again. Maybe what Dai Qin said isn’t baseless and you truly have the wrong person?”
Seeing Li Moxuan’s shabby clothes, Director Qi wanted to say more, but Sun Chengfu’s expression darkened further, his tone losing all courtesy:
“Director Qi, you’ve wasted your whole life, blind as a bat. Are you trying to get me killed?”
“Men, slap him! Beat him to death!”
At Sun Chengfu’s command, several men in black suits quickly stepped forward, pinning Dai Qin and Director Qi to the ground.
The two men panicked and screamed for mercy:
“Deputy Sun, it’s a misunderstanding! Let’s talk it out!”
But Sun Chengfu ignored them, waving his hand.
“Smack…”
A vicious blow landed, nearly knocking Dai Qin to his death.
Before they could react, the men began raining slaps upon them.
The barrage of slaps came like a sudden storm, echoing crisply throughout the ward.
Soon, Dai Qin and Director Qi’s faces were bloodied and mangled beyond recognition, blood pooling starkly on the pristine white tiles.
Their features twisted grotesquely, they screamed like slaughtered pigs, begging for mercy.
“Ah… Deputy Sun, we won’t dare again, please spare us!”
“Yes, we’ll do whatever you want. No more beating, someone will die, ah…”
But Sun Chengfu paid no heed to their pleas. Instead, he turned respectfully to Li Moxuan, cupping his fists in a formal gesture:
“Mr. Li, what do you say…”
“If you’re still not satisfied, I have other methods that will surely please you.”
“That’s enough. I need to treat my sister; I have no time to waste on these trash.”
Li Moxuan gazed at their bloodied, distorted faces unwilling to let his sister witness such gore.
Sun Chengfu bent forward, nodding repeatedly.
“Understood!”
He signaled his men.
“Stop!”
The men ceased their assault.
Director Qi and Dai Qin were dumped on the floor like broken clay, limp in a pool of blood, their white coats soaked with gore, a sickening sight.
Sun Chengfu glared coldly at Director Qi.
“Are you still not going to apologize to Mr. Li? If not for Mr. Li’s mercy, neither of you would leave this hospital today!”
Qi had no choice but to scramble up and kowtow frantically to Li Moxuan.
“Thank you, Mr. Li, for sparing our lives…”
