“Wolves?”

“There are really wolves on this mountain?”

The two girls were instantly terrified. They looked around nervously, afraid that a wild wolf might suddenly pounce on them.

“What’s there to fear from a few wolves? Zhou has hunted lions on the African savanna. What do a few wolves amount to?” sneered a young man dressed head to toe in designer clothes, with a streak of dyed blond hair.

He glanced at Chen Dabao, and the disdain in his eyes deepened.

Just some country bumpkin, yet he wants to play the hero and save the beauty?

“I only went along with someone else,” Zhou said, lifting his chin proudly. “But a few wolves are nothing to me!”

If even a rustic farmer could kill wolves, then naturally it would be even less of a challenge for him.

Chen Dabao curled his lip. These young men had no idea how high the heavens were or how deep the earth lay. If they really encountered wolves, it would be a blessing if they did not wet themselves.

But Mino was An Nuan’s best friend, and Chen Dabao had to get her safely down the mountain.

“Miss Mino, hurry and pack your things. If we don’t leave now, it’ll be too late!” Chen Dabao ignored the two men posing like peacocks and spoke directly to Mino.

The two boys clearly had designs on Mino and wanted to show off in front of her.

“All right. Lili, hurry and pack up. We’re going down the mountain right now!”

Mino trusted Chen Dabao’s judgment completely and immediately began taking down the tent in preparation for their descent.

“Mino, don’t be afraid. I brought a bow and arrows!”

Zhou turned and took a bow and arrows from the tent. He was using a recurve bow, which cost several thousand at the very least. In the hands of an expert, dealing with a few wolves truly would not be much of a problem.

“Everyone, be careful. Slowly move closer together!”

At that moment, Chen Dabao suddenly became alert. His sharp gaze swept across the surroundings.

“Dabao, are the wolves coming?”

Mino shuddered and hurried to Chen Dabao’s side, anxiously scanning the area.

The two girls had yet to react and stood dumbly beside the tent.

The blond-haired man and Zhou looked around in bewilderment but saw nothing.

“Where are the wolves? Don’t scare people, kid!” the blond-haired man said disdainfully.

“Roar!”

Just then, a wild wolf suddenly sprang from the forest and charged straight at Lili, who was standing beside the tent. Chen Li let out a terrified scream. Her hands and feet went limp; she wanted to run, but her body no longer obeyed her mind.

“Ah!”

Chen Li shut her eyes in terror.

“Get out of the way!”

Chen Dabao roared and swung the hatchet in his hand with all his strength, hurling it viciously through the air. With a wet thud, the hatchet sank deep into the wolf’s body.

A spray of warm blood splashed across Chen Li’s face.

Chen Li opened and closed her mouth, releasing a silent scream before collapsing limply to the ground. She had fainted from fright.

The girl beside her shuddered violently, and a large wet patch spread across her trousers.

“Wolves! Wolves! Zhou, shoot them!”

The blond-haired man’s legs trembled uncontrollably. He hid behind Zhou, while Zhou himself shook all over as he fumbled to nock an arrow. He had indeed been to Africa and had seen people hunt before, but he had been inside a vehicle protected by wire mesh. There had never been the slightest danger.

This was different. Now he could genuinely be eaten by wild wolves.

Whoosh!

“Roar!”

Zhou drew his bow and tremblingly fired at one of the wolves. But he was shaking so badly that he missed even from a few yards away. The arrow struck the ground beside the wolf, which immediately sprang forward and knocked Zhou down.

“Ah!”

The wolf’s gaping jaws opened before Zhou’s eyes. He screamed in terror and frantically raised his arms to shield himself. The next instant, the wolf sank its teeth into his arm, and blood poured everywhere.

“Help me! Help me! Somebody help me!”

The blond-haired man was so frightened that he wet himself completely. He dropped onto the ground and scrambled backward in terror.

“Idiot!”

Chen Dabao’s expression darkened, and he was just about to go help when he suddenly noticed another wolf stealthily approaching. It leaped toward Mino.

There were actually three wolves. Including the one that had already been killed, there were four in all—a small pack.

The wolves were intelligent. They knew to attack the women first, since they had limited ability to resist.

“Dabao, there’s a wolf!”

Mino screamed in terror and hurriedly tried to dodge.

But the wolf was too fast. It knocked her down and viciously lunged for her throat with its snarling jaws. Mino’s eyes widened as she watched those terrifying jaws draw closer and closer.

Crack!

At the critical moment, Chen Dabao grabbed the wolf around the neck and twisted with tremendous force. With a sharp crack, the wolf’s neck broke instantly. He tossed the carcass aside and turned toward the last wolf.

Mino stared blankly at Chen Dabao’s back, her beautiful eyes shining with astonishment. Chen Dabao was incredibly powerful—he had actually killed a wolf with his bare hands.

She had never understood why An Nuan cared so much about a young man from the countryside. Now she was beginning to understand. Chen Dabao truly was no ordinary country youth.

Chen Dabao was mysterious, radiating a dangerously irresistible allure.

“Help me! Help me! Someone save me! Hurry and save me!”

The wolf had clamped down hard on Zhou’s arm, and blood streamed from the wound. It kept whipping its head from side to side, trying to tear his arm off. The blond-haired man, having wet himself in terror, crawled into the tent and zipped it shut before huddling inside and trembling.

Chen Dabao rushed over, seized the wolf by the head, and twisted with all his strength. With a crisp crack, he broke its neck cleanly.

All four wild wolves had been killed by Chen Dabao.

The Heavenly Secret Divine Art was truly formidable.

“Dabao, you killed all the wolves? Are there any more nearby?” Mino summoned her courage and hurried over to Chen Dabao on unsteady hands and legs, asking nervously.

In these desolate mountains, she felt safe only beside Chen Dabao.

“There are no more wolves nearby. It seems this was just a small pack.” Chen Dabao swept his gaze around and listened carefully. After confirming that no wolves remained in the surrounding forest, he relaxed.

“That’s good. That’s good!” Mino murmured, finally calming down.

“Mino, get me to a hospital! Hurry, get me to a hospital! I’m going to die! I don’t want to die!”

Zhou wailed in terror.

One of his arms was covered in blood, with a huge chunk of flesh nearly torn away. Blood continued to drip steadily from the wound.

“Stop shouting. You’re not going to die.” Chen Dabao frowned, quickly took out silver needles, and used them to stop the bleeding. He then called the blond-haired man out of the tent, supported Zhou, and led the group down the mountain.

The entire group had been badly frightened. Though their hands and feet were weak, they forced themselves to descend as quickly as possible, afraid that some other wild beast might leap out of the forest.

“Dabao, thank you. If you hadn’t been here today, we would have been in danger. Next time, I’ll invite An Nuan and treat you to dinner!” After they reached the lower slopes, Mino breathed a sigh of relief and forced a smile at Chen Dabao.

“We’re all friends. Don’t mention it.” Chen Dabao nodded and was about to speak when his expression suddenly changed.

He lunged forward, knocked Mino to the ground, and rolled with her to the side.

“Look out!”

Bang!

A dull gunshot startled the birds from the mountain forest.
