Chapter 51: Starlight and Lamplight Intertwined
On the bustling streets of Mong Kok, David Lam strolled with Rosamund Kwan for about ten minutes, ultimately keeping his promise to buy her the pair of Roger Vivier shoes she had been dreaming of.
Neither of them was a public figure, so they wandered hand in hand just like any ordinary young couple, completely unnoticed by the passersby.
The two brothers, Li Weiguo and Li Weidong, followed diligently behind David to ensure their safety.
Soon, their footprints had marked Fa Yuen Street, Ladies' Market, Sai Yeung Choi Street, and more.
By this time, the clock had unknowingly ticked past eight in the evening.
"Any other plans, beautiful lady?" David asked with a smile as they reached the end of Sai Yeung Choi Street, near where they had parked.
"Brother David, I want to see the night view of Victoria Harbour!" Rosamund looked at David with hopeful eyes.
Before she even realized it, the way she addressed David had changed.
At this moment, Rosamund felt utterly happy.
She felt that out of all her seventeen years, tonight was by far the happiest day of her life.
Without knowing when it started, Rosamund found herself developing an indescribable affection for David.
The night view of Victoria Harbour?
David smiled faintly and said, "Alright then, I'll take you to the absolute best spot to view the nightscape of Victoria Harbour."
Getting into the car, David instructed Li Weiguo to drive straight back to the Heng Fung Building.
Sitting inside the gently moving vehicle, Rosamund's small hand instinctively reached out again to clasp David's left hand. They sat closely together, almost able to feel each other's warmth.
David caught a faint, fresh, and captivating scent from her, quietly diffusing within the confined space.
Rosamund's heart pounded like a beating drum. She was actually surprised herself as to why she felt such a strong sense of closeness to a man she had only met twice, and even acted so proactively.
This sudden rush of feelings left her feeling both shy and filled with a sweet, nervous tension.
As the car wove through the deep shadows of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel, David used the soft cabin lighting to gently trace delicate circles on the palm of Rosamund's hand.
That gentle touch was like a breeze sweeping across the surface of a lake, instantly stirring ripples of delicate emotion across the lake of Rosamund's heart. She felt an indescribable thrill, almost crying out in surprise.
However, Rosamund's reason managed to pull her back just in time.
She realized that two bodyguards were still sitting in the front row. In such a situation, the slightest carelessness could shatter this delicate balance and leave her mortally embarrassed.
Therefore, she bit her lip hard, swallowing back the joy and astonishment that threatened to overflow, while two pretty blushes quietly bloomed across her cheeks.
Naturally, David noticed the subtle changes in Rosamund. He smiled inwardly, understanding that right now, Rosamund was like an undefended lamb before him—both innocent and alluring.
Naturally, he had no intention of letting such a rare opportunity slip away.
The car smoothly returned to the Heng Fung Building and parked in the garage.
"Weiguo, Weidong, once you drop us off at the company entrance, you two don't need to come up. Stay at the Tai Wah Hotel next door tonight, and I'll look for you tomorrow," David said softly to the two brothers while still inside the car, after Rosamund had stepped out and closed her door.
The Heng Fung Building had numerous security guards, with patrols on almost every floor, making it extremely secure here.
"Understood, Boss." The two men were far from fools; they naturally understood that tonight was not a suitable time to disturb their boss.
Only then did David push open the door and step outside.
"Brother David, where are we going?" Rosamund looked at the sprawling underground garage before her, a trace of curiosity and confusion flashing in her eyes.
Before entering the garage, she had already caught a glimpse through the car window gap that she was inside a towering skyscraper.
"Didn't you want to see the brilliant night view of Victoria Harbour? I'm taking you up to the upper floors of the building so you can appreciate its splendor from above," David answered with a smile.
Hearing this, Rosamund's eyes instantly lit up. Eager and impatient, she could not wait to catch a glimpse of the legendary night view of Victoria Harbour.
The elevator stopped on the 19th floor. Li Weidong and Li Weiguo watched their boss open the office door and close it again before they finally left with peace of mind.
Stepping into the office, Rosamund took a glance at the furnishings and immediately realized this was a company office.
However, her gaze was soon drawn to the massive floor-to-ceiling glass window at the very back, and she quickened her pace involuntarily.
That glass window was like a giant gemstone embedded in the wall, presenting the outside hustle, bustle, and magnificence without reservation.
Through it, the breathtaking night scenery on both sides of Victoria Harbour was laid out in panoramic view—twinkling lights and shimmering waters unfurling slowly like a breathtaking painting.
"Wow, it's so beautiful! I never imagined that standing at this height to overlook Hong Kong could deliver such a breathtaking visual feast." Rosamund was stunned by the night view before her.
David slowly walked up beside her, a gentle smile curving the corner of his lips. He too was deeply captivated by the magnificent scenery before them, overlooking the mesmerizing and refreshing view.
"Brother David, thank you so much," Rosamund suddenly turned around and said to David after a moment of silence.
"Silly girl, do we need to say things like that between us?" David replied with a light chuckle.
At that moment, the stunning night scenery all around seemed to fade into mere backdrop, enveloping the two of them in a romantic and subtle atmosphere.
Starlight and city lights reflected off one another, adding a dreamy touch to the scene.
Their gazes met inadvertently, as if the entire world had paused for them.
Then, an irresistible force compelled them to draw closer together, step by step, until their lips gently brushed, initiating a deep and lingering kiss.
This kiss was long and profound, as if transcending the boundaries of time.
It wasn't until Rosamund felt a slight sensation of suffocation that she reluctantly parted her lips, though her eyes still retained residual passion.
"So shy..." Rosamund's cheeks flushed red as she shyly buried her head deep into David's chest, as if trying to hide from the thumping of her own heart and David's gaze.
Inwardly, she felt a trace of secret annoyance; the impulsive and daring moment just then made her feel even more mortified, wondering what Brother David would think of her.
However, how could David possibly let go of this hard-won opportunity?
A wicked smile played at the corner of his lips as he gently wrapped his arms around Rosamund's waist. Amidst her soft gasp of surprise, with one swift and decisive motion, he scooped her up horizontally into his arms and strode steadily toward the general manager's office.
Passing through his private office, he headed straight into the more intimate inner room, gently placing Rosamund down upon the soft, large bed.
Sensing what was coming, Rosamund did not resist. Though there was panic in her heart, there was also an inexplicable sense of anticipation.
She closed her eyes tightly, her long eyelashes fluttering gently, transforming herself like a flower quietly waiting to be plucked, surrendering to every gentle stroke and tender care David bestowed upon her.
