Chu Corporation, President’s Office.
Chu Yan and Yao Bing were close sisters who had shared hardships together, sitting on the sofa as if there was nothing they couldn’t talk about.

“What did you say? You’re married? And the other party is involved in a massacre? Aren’t you jumping into a fire pit? You might end up ruining the entire Chu family!”

Yao Bing jumped up from the sofa in shock upon hearing about Chu Yan’s marriage.

“I know. When his master saved my grandfather, my grandfather promised a marriage to repay that kindness. Now that he has saved my grandfather’s life again, I cannot be ungrateful!”

Chu Yan said helplessly; this was a fire pit she had no choice but to jump into.

“I don’t believe that master and apprentice are miraculous doctors; they’re probably just charlatans! This Jiang Chen saving your grandfather was just a lucky fluke!”

Yao Bing said coldly. Realizing the awkwardness, she quickly added, “I mean no disrespect to your grandfather, I just don’t believe in his medical skills!”

“His skills must be genuine; after all, Dr. Li can vouch for him… Enough of this. You just got back, rest well. Don’t worry about me!”

Chu Yan changed the subject, unwilling to discuss her marriage to Jiang Chen any further.

Yao Bing knew Chu Yan’s loyal and sentimental nature and was determined to find a way to make Jiang Chen divorce Chu Yan.

After work, Jiang Chen settled his sister Jiang Qing at Tiange Zifu and then came to Chu Corporation to pick up Chu Yan.

Jiang Chen knocked on the door of Chu Yan’s office and entered only after her consent.

“Jiang Chen, what are you doing here again?”

Chu Yan frowned slightly.

“Grandfather asked me to come early to take you home for dinner. Today is our wedding day, and he wants to celebrate.”

Jiang Chen relayed the old man’s words.

“So you’re Jiang Chen? You put on quite a show. Don’t think you’re impressive just because you know a bit of medicine!”

Yao Bing scrutinized Jiang Chen with disdain. “I heard after you fled, you became some village chief. Why don’t you take a look in the mirror? Do you deserve the daughter of one of the five great families, the president of Chu Corporation?”

Since Chu Yan wouldn’t divorce willingly, Yao Bing intended to make Jiang Chen leave forcibly!

“Bingbing, don’t be so harsh!”

Chu Yan stopped Yao Bing, not wanting her close sister to be seen as the villain. She introduced Yao Bing to Jiang Chen: “This is my childhood friend, Yao Bing. She just returned from the army and speaks bluntly.”

Jiang Chen calmly glanced at Yao Bing. He always respected warriors who defended the country, and since Yao Bing was Chu Yan’s childhood friend, he ignored her harsh words.

“I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

Jiang Chen left the office with those words, casually closing the door behind him.

“What’s with his attitude? He dares to ignore me? So arrogant!”

Yao Bing pointed at the direction Jiang Chen had left, scolding him coldly, feeling like punching cotton.

“He’s probably a bit afraid of you. After all, you’re from the army, and your aura can intimidate people.”

Chu Yan mediated the tension, then said, “Grandfather hasn’t seen you in a long time. Let’s go home and have dinner together.”

“Sure!”

Yao Bing agreed with a smile. Jiang Chen thought that by lying low, he could avoid her? Not unless he divorced Chu Yan!

Outside Chu Corporation, Yao Bing grabbed the steering wheel. Jiang Chen followed Chu Yan to the back seat but was called to the front passenger seat by Yao Bing.

Yao Bing wanted to warn Jiang Chen, but he closed his eyes to rest, infuriating her to the point of grinding her teeth. She even sped up, tempted to throw Jiang Chen out.

She glared at Jiang Chen and sneered, “Are you a pig? You sleep as soon as you get in the car!”

Had she known, she would have sat in the back with Chu Yan and made Jiang Chen do the heavy lifting.

Even with his eyes closed, Jiang Chen sensed someone was tailing them. He had wanted to warn Yao Bing but decided to handle things himself instead of wasting effort on her cold shoulder.

When Yao Bing drove Chu Yan’s Rolls-Royce Phantom onto a tree-lined avenue, Jiang Chen opened his eyes.

Yao Bing was about to mock Jiang Chen again when she suddenly felt uneasy. As an elite of the Fire Phoenix Special Forces, she had a keen sense for danger.

It was dusk; the sky darkened, and the dense trees on either side of the avenue gave off a sinister vibe, despite the faint light. Yao Bing lightly tapped the brakes to slow down.

Jiang Chen had already sensed many ambushers hidden behind the trees—martial arts experts. He didn’t know if they were connected to the people trailing them from behind.

“Clatter, clatter…”

Suddenly, ten masked men in black rushed out ahead, dragging a long, wide road spike covered in sharp barbs designed to instantly burst tires.

They also wielded gleaming machetes.

“Screech, screech…”

Yao Bing’s face changed drastically. She slammed on the brakes, thinking her instincts were right.

“Boom!”
“Boom!”

Two black cars that had been tailing them sped forward, blocking the Phantom’s escape route side by side before stopping.

Eight masked men emerged from the cars. Judging by their attire, they were allied with the men blocking the road and carried iron rods.

They had the Phantom trapped, surrounded from front and rear.

“Yan Yan, stay in the car. I’ll deal with them!”

Yao Bing unbuckled her seatbelt and said to Chu Yan in the back seat.

However, she noticed Jiang Chen in the front passenger seat moved faster than her and got out of the car first.

“You’re still a man after all, knowing to stand up and protect Yan Yan in danger…”

Yao Bing snorted coldly, finally approving of Jiang Chen a bit. But before she could finish, she saw Jiang Chen sprint into the dense trees and disappear.

“Bastard! Coward! I really misjudged him!”

Yao Bing cursed angrily. She had thought Jiang Chen was stepping out to fight, but he actually fled!

Chu Yan also looked disappointed toward the direction Jiang Chen had fled. No matter how skilled his medicine was, he was a coward who valued his life. His martial arts skills were clearly insufficient against so many armed enemies!

In truth, both Yao Bing and Chu Yan misunderstood Jiang Chen. He sensed a martial arts grandmaster approaching with two masters, so he took the initiative to confront them.

Given Yao Bing’s mastery and combat experience in the army, Jiang Chen was confident she could handle a dozen martial arts experts.

Behind the thick trees, Jiang Chen blocked a man and two women.

“You found us, so you must be at least a martial arts master!”

The leader was a long-haired man in his thirties or forties, but his voice sounded older—fifties or sixties—with a creepy smile.

The two women by his side looked younger, in their twenties, exuding a seductive allure.

“Who are you? Who sent you?”

Jiang Chen asked coldly.

“Heh heh heh… Master, this handsome young man is quite interesting. How about you give him to me?”

“Master, I want him too. After we split this handsome young man, we can serve you better, okay?”

The two women smiled, licking their lips as red as blood, their eyes fixed on Jiang Chen like a predator sizing up prey.
