Ye Qingchan’s gaze swept across the entire scene: Jiang Chen, who was applying acupuncture to Jiang Qing’s right leg; Feng Yuwei, whose right foot was twisted out of shape; Pan Yonghui, whose left arm had been broken in the collision; and the damaged Lamborghini...

However one looked at it, the scene resembled the aftermath of a car accident.

Ye Qingchan quickly got out of the car and was about to go over to ask Jiang Chen what had happened. Although nothing could ever happen between her and Jiang Chen, she was still willing to uphold justice if she could lend a hand.

Before she could reach him, however, a member of the Hidden Dragon Envoy squad called her again. She answered the phone while sprinting toward the hospital. Jiang Chen was in no danger, but her own team was facing a crisis.

Jiang Chen noticed Ye Qingchan, but when he saw that she did not stop, he paid her no attention.

After finishing his call, Pan Yonghui turned toward Jiang Chen and sneered viciously. “You miserable bastard, my father will be here with reinforcements any moment now. You’d better wait for death!”

“Like father, like son. Your father clearly isn’t a decent man either. The commander of the Linzhou War Department should be replaced.”

Jiang Chen’s voice was cold. He had overheard Pan Yonghui’s conversation and knew that his father was the sort of man who protected his family regardless of right or wrong, shielding his son without question.

“You’re still barking like a dog with death staring you in the face. Who do you think you are, that you can replace my father? Do you think you’re the son of the Linzhou War Department’s general?”

Pan Yonghui curled his lips into a vicious sneer.

“Brother Hui, when your father arrives, make sure he breaks this bastard’s hands and legs!”

Feng Yuwei’s face was filled with malice, her eyes brimming with hatred for Jiang Chen.

“Even without you telling me, I’ll have my father break all four of his limbs. He dared to injure both my legs and your foot. He deserves to die!”

Pan Yonghui glanced at his apparently crippled legs, his face darkening as he gnashed his teeth.

As the crowd gathered around them grew larger, the hospital security guards also came over.

“What happened here?” the security captain asked.

“This bastard injured both me and Young Master Pan. Young Master Pan’s father, Commander Pan, is on his way here. Hurry up and arrest him so he can’t escape!”

Feng Yuwei pointed at Jiang Chen and shouted angrily, deliberately revealing the identities of father and son as she ordered the security captain around.

“What? Commander Pan?”

The security captain was stunned. As a guard at the Linzhou War Department General Hospital, he had naturally heard of Commander Pan. He was a senior officer under General Qin!

Someone had actually dared to injure Commander Pan’s son. Were they tired of living?

“Men, seize this criminal at once and hand him over to Commander Pan and Young Master Pan for punishment!”

The security captain issued the order loudly.

A group of guards immediately charged forward and surrounded Jiang Chen and Jiang Qing.

“You’re arresting someone without finding out who’s right or wrong. Aren’t you afraid of losing your job because of this?” Jiang Chen asked, looking at the security captain.

“Is there any need to ask? You’re obviously the one in the wrong! You beat Young Master Pan to the ground. You’re not merely at fault—you’ve committed a crime!”

The security captain acted as though everything were self-evident and urged the others on. “Do it! If he dares resist, beat him!”

Before Commander Pan arrived, he had to make a good impression.

Pan Yonghui and Feng Yuwei were delighted by his performance, smiling as they sat back and watched Jiang Chen get beaten.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

The guards had barely surrounded Jiang Chen before they were sent flying in all directions like scattered petals, crashing to the ground and grimacing in pain.

“A bunch of useless trash!” Pan Yonghui cursed, his expression ugly.

“Please calm down, Young Master Pan. This kid is a martial arts expert. I’ll personally capture him!”

The security captain hurriedly explained himself and launched a full-power grappling attack at Jiang Chen.

He was the strongest martial artist among the guards. Dealing with this kid should have been effortless.

Crack!

Jiang Chen seized his wrist and snapped it, then spun around and slapped him across the face.

Smack—Pfft!

The security captain was sent flying, his head lolling to one side as he spat blood. By coincidence, the blood sprayed all over Pan Yonghui and Feng Yuwei’s faces.

“Fuck your mother!”

Pan Yonghui cursed furiously. Unable to open his eyes properly, he wiped his face with his right hand, finding it covered in blood.

The security captain lay on the ground in excruciating pain, feeling as though his attempt to curry favor had landed him in the worst possible situation.

Thinking of Jiang Chen’s strength, he said resentfully, “Young Master Pan, this kid must be a martial arts grandmaster!”

Pan Yonghui was startled at first, then shouted, “So what if he’s a martial arts grandmaster? He still has to die for injuring me!”

“My father is not only a commander of the Linzhou War Department, but also a martial arts master. He has plenty of martial arts grandmasters under him. Any one of them could kill this punk!”

“Exactly, exactly! This kid isn’t even worthy of Commander Pan’s personal attention. A single martial arts grandmaster from the Linzhou War Department would be more than enough to beat him senseless!”

The security captain nodded vigorously, flattering Pan Yonghui once again.

The surrounding onlookers murmured among themselves, their gazes toward Jiang Chen filled with sympathy.

“That man is unbelievably reckless. He actually dared to hit Commander Pan’s son. Just because he’s a martial arts grandmaster, he thinks he can court death with impunity!”

“Forget being a martial arts grandmaster—even if he were a martial arts master, offending Commander Pan would still leave him with no chance of survival. After all, General Qin is above Commander Pan!”

“Exactly. Even the fiercest figures from Linzhou’s three underground powers wouldn’t dare offend Commander Pan. The last person who acted that arrogantly was shot dead on the spot!”

Hearing the murmurs, Pan Yonghui wore a smug smile. This was the formidable prestige and influence his father commanded.

As long as the Pan family’s wealth surpassed the Chu family’s, they could replace them and become one of Linzhou’s new Five Great Families!

After learning that his son had been beaten, Pan Jinsheng hurried over in a War Department off-road vehicle, accompanied by two subordinate martial arts grandmasters of the highest rank.

“Father, I’m over here!”

Pan Yonghui sat on the ground and raised his unbroken right hand, shouting excitedly.

Dressed in military uniform, Pan Jinsheng climbed out of the War Department vehicle with an imposing air. When he saw that his son’s hand—and apparently his legs as well—had been broken, with blood covering his face, he flew into a rage.

“Who injured my son? Get over here and kneel down to confess your crime!”

His domineering voice, brooking no opposition, thundered across the scene. Everyone fell silent, not daring even to breathe loudly.

“Commander Pan, your son drove into my leg first and fractured it. He even tried to crush both my legs. My brother only acted to protect me!”

Jiang Qing gathered her courage and stepped forward to explain. She discovered that Jiang Chen had already healed her right leg, allowing her to walk normally again.

“What utter nonsense! Your leg is perfectly fine, yet you dare accuse my son. I think you tried to extort compensation through a staged accident, failed, and then flew into a rage, ordering your brother to attack my son!”

Pan Jinsheng spoke with imposing authority as he deliberately twisted right and wrong. Even if the situation truly had been as Jiang Qing described, he would never have spared the siblings after seeing how badly his son had been beaten.

“That’s right, Father! That’s exactly what happened!”

Pan Yonghui pointed at Jiang Qing and Jiang Chen as he played along. “This slut ran in front of my car to stage an accident. I swerved to avoid her, which is why I crashed and broke my left arm!”

“Her bastard of a brother bit the hand that tried to help him. I don’t know what method he used, but he injured both my legs so badly that I can’t even move!”

“That miserable bastard even insulted you, saying you weren’t a decent man, and openly declared that the commander of the Linzhou War Department should be replaced. He’s unbelievably arrogant! Issue the order and punish him severely. Break all four of his limbs!”
