Chapter 25: Pleading for Huang Long to Return Home
Ever since leaving the Huang family estate, Huang Long and Huang Ying had been living in a very ordinary residential complex. This property was one Huang Ying had purchased to serve as her secret base, and the home was filled with the various figurines she collected.
As the grandfather and granddaughter were sleeping soundly, a series of urgent knocks suddenly echoed through the room. The two emerged from their respective bedrooms, exchanging a glance that betrayed their mutual confusion. Who could possibly be knocking at this hour?
When Huang Long opened the door, the two Huang brothers immediately collapsed to their knees, weeping bitterly.
"Dad, please come home with us."
"Dad, the Huang family cannot survive without you."
Huang Long’s heart sank. When they had driven him out of the family, they had been cold and resolute; how could they be begging for his return so soon? Moreover, Huang Tianyang was missing. His intuition told him that something had happened—something catastrophic.
"What is going on?"
"The little miracle doctor killed our eldest brother. He is dead."
Huang Tianyang had been the backbone of the trio. With his death, the two brothers had completely lost their footing and had no choice but to seek out Huang Long to take charge. Though they were greedy for power, they realized that the current state of the Huang family was far beyond their ability to control.
Huang Long took a deep breath. He had known that Huang Tianyang would eventually commit a grave error, but he had not expected it to happen so quickly. Less than a day had passed, and he had already died at the hands of Tang Xuan.
"Tell me exactly what happened."
The two brothers recounted the events to him. When Huang Ying learned that Tang Xuan had acted for the sake of a woman, she felt a wave of bitter jealousy.
"Who is that woman?"
"Zhang Qi."
Huang Ying gritted her teeth in hatred. She knew Zhang Qi; she was nothing but a low-class woman from the streets. She could not fathom how she, the dignified young lady of the Huang family, was in any way inferior to Zhang Qi. In terms of birth or status, on what grounds could Zhang Qi even compare to her?
"Are you certain it was Zhang Qi? You didn't mistake her?"
The two brothers nodded repeatedly. Huang Ying stomped back to her room in a rage. Did he actually prefer that kind of loose woman? Was it true that the more shameless the slut, the more she caught his eye?
Huang Long exhaled deeply. He had long anticipated the consequences for Huang Tianyang. If Tang Xuan could kill Li Qin without the slightest hesitation, what did Huang Tianyang matter?
"Why have you come to me?"
"Dad, please come back with us."
"Yes, the Huang family cannot function without you."
Huang Long sneered. Their power grab had been arrogant and aggressive; yet, not even a day later, they were begging for his return. Would his return solve the trouble? Would it allow them to stand against Tang Xuan? Obviously not. Huang Long was no fool. Returning to the Huang family at this moment would be akin to throwing himself into the center of a disaster.
"You brought this trouble upon yourselves; go solve it yourselves."
With that, Huang Long slammed the door shut. The two brothers collapsed to the floor in despair.
Meanwhile, Tang Xuan had returned to Luhu Tianjing. The rest of the household seemed to have gone to sleep. Just as he was about to find an empty room to rest in, the living room lights flickered on. Zhao Ran was sitting on the sofa, looking at him with a resentful expression.
"You were waiting for me?"
Zhao Ran asked, "Are you not going to sleep with me again tonight?"
This issue regarding his "hair" had become the most troublesome matter since Tang Xuan returned to Earth. He had absolutely no way to resolve it. He had even considered telling Zhao Ran the truth—that the man standing before her was not the original Tang Sixteen. But could she possibly believe such an absurd thing? If she merely dismissed it as a pathetic excuse to brush her off, wouldn't it break her heart? She had shed enough tears in their previous life; Tang Xuan did not want her to feel hurt by anything.
"Not at all, I was just delayed by a small matter, and here I am, aren't I? Let's go, time for bed."
Hearing the words "time for bed," a genuine, heartfelt smile blossomed on Zhao Ran’s face. "Don't worry, I won't make things difficult for you."
Back in the bedroom, the two lay on the bed. When they were children, Tang Xuan and Zhao Ran had slept together often, but back then, his mind had been pure—unlike now. Fortunately, Zhao Ran did not make any intimate moves.
The current Tang Xuan did not actually need sleep; it had long been a non-necessity for him. Every night, he attempted to break through his cultivation realm, as his current status in the Zhenlei Realm was still too weak. While the chances of encountering a powerhouse of the Dikun Realm were slim, it would be a significant problem for him should he ever cross paths with one. Unfortunately, this body was far too frail, and his attempts had all ended in failure.
The next morning, after Tang Xuan woke up, he sat in the living room playing with little Xuanzi. Their seemingly casual interaction was, in fact, Tang Xuan secretly infusing the boy’s body with Dragon Qi to reshape his constitution. If he could elevate little Xuanzi’s body to the requirements of a Sacred Physique, then when Tang Xuan’s true consciousness finally fully integrated, he would surely be able to break past the limits of his previous cultivation—perhaps even reaching that legendary realm spoken of in the Immortal World.
"Are you busy today?" Tang Qinghua asked, leaning toward Tang Xuan.
"What do you need?"
"I need to return to the old Tang family residence to get the household registration book. Little Xuanzi still isn't registered, and I'm afraid the Tang family will give me a hard time."
"Let's go."
For a matter like this, everything else could be set aside. After all, this was Tang Xuan’s own business. While registering the child might seem trivial, it was essential for Tang Xuan. He intended to return to school, and those who had bullied him would not escape their due.
"Thank you, I feel so much safer with you there."
The two left Luhu Tianjing and prepared to hail a taxi to the Tang residence. As soon as they got into the car, Tang Xuan asked, "Do you have a driver's license?"
"I do, but I don't have the money to buy a car."
"Driver, head to the Rolls-Royce dealership."
Tang Qinghua stared at Tang Xuan in shock: "What are you doing?"
"Buying you a car, so it’s not so inconvenient to get around in the future."
At the Rolls-Royce dealership, Liu Ling was strolling through the showroom, arm-in-arm with a handsome young man named Wei Li. The Wei family of Jiangcheng held a status comparable to the Huang family. Wei Li had been pursuing Liu Ling for some time; she had previously been cold toward him, but for some reason, she had become quite warm toward him lately. Sensing an opportunity, Wei Li decided to strike while the iron was hot and buy Liu Ling a car to win her favor. Since he was a scion of the Wei family, he wouldn't settle for anything less than a Rolls-Royce.
Unconsciously, Liu Ling began to compare Wei Li to Tang Xuan. Though Tang Xuan possessed extraordinary medical skills, how could he possibly compare to Wei Li in terms of social standing or financial power? Liu Ling now deeply regretted the things she had said to Tang Xuan. She had been foolish enough to show herself for a man of no consequence. She had only agreed to have two meals with Wei Li and hold his arm, and he was already offering her a luxury car. Was this something Tang Xuan could ever do? Could he even afford a car this expensive?
