Chapter 5: I Am Born!
"I haven't been avoiding the fight; I just came from the arena."
"He even demanded I sign a death waiver."
Tang Qinghua chuckled. "You didn't sign it, so you just ran away?"
"I signed it, and then I beat him to death."
This statement struck like a bolt of lightning from a clear sky, leaving both Tang Qinghua and You Zhen stunned and speechless. The bowl in You Zhen's hands slipped and shattered upon hitting the floor. Tang Qinghua began to tremble all over.
"You... are you saying you killed Zhou Zhuoyi?"
Watching Tang Qinghua's look of disbelief, Tang Xuan felt quite helpless. "In your eyes, am I really not his match?"
"It's over, it's all over!" Tang Qinghua paced back and forth in the living room, unable to sit still. You Zhen was pale, paralyzed by fear. "If you killed Zhou Zhuoyi, the Zhou family won't let you off. They don't care about any death waiver."
Tang Xuan had anticipated this; he was already mentally prepared for the Zhou family's retaliation. "Don't worry, I don't care about the Zhou family at all."
Meanwhile, at the Zhou family villa, Zhou Zhuoyi's body lay in the living room. Every member of the family wore an expression of intense rage. Zhou Zhuoyi was the youngest expert of the Xunfeng Realm in Jiangcheng and the future hope of the family, yet he was now nothing more than a cold corpse.
The family head, Zhou Hu, knelt beside the body, his eyes bloodshot. "Zhuoyi, Grandfather will surely avenge you. No matter who he is, I will skin him alive."
Just then, two uninvited guests walked into the living room. Zhou Hu said in a deep voice, "The Zhou family is not receiving guests today. Please leave."
Huang Fei smiled. "I know who killed your grandson. Don't you want to know?"
Hearing this, the members of the Zhou family grew indignant.
"Who is it!"
"Anyone who dares to touch a member of the Zhou family must pay with their life!"
"Whoever he is, he must be buried with Zhou Zhuoyi!"
The Zhou family's fury satisfied Huang Fei. The greater their killing intent, the more dangerous Tang Xuan's situation would be, and the higher the value of her stepping in to save him. She could already imagine Tang Xuan begging for her help when he was beaten to a pulp.
"What do you want from the Zhou family?" Zhou Hu asked, assuming she wouldn't deliver this news for nothing.
Huang Fei gave a disdainful smile. "A mere Zhou family? There is nothing here that catches my eye."
This remark incited dissatisfaction among the crowd. Zhou Hu took a step forward, exuding the intimidating pressure of a Zhenlei Realm expert.
Old Qin smiled slightly and stepped in front of Huang Fei. Zhou Hu’s heart jolted. His own aura was completely suppressed, which could only mean one thing: the person before him was of a higher realm!
"His name is Tang Shiliu. Go find him." With those words, Huang Fei turned and left.
"Old Qin, besides you, who else could save him?" Huang Fei asked.
Old Qin smiled confidently. "Although Zhou Hu is only at the early stage of the Zhenlei Realm, he is more than enough to handle that kid. If I don't intervene, he is certainly a dead man."
Huang Fei laughed heartily. "He thought that by becoming a martial practitioner, he could escape my control. It’s just a pity he isn't strong enough."
On the other side, when leaving his parents' home, Tang Xuan took the feather duster with him and warned Tang Qinghua not to buy another one. Once downstairs, he plucked all the feathers and snapped the handle in two before throwing it into the trash can. That night, Tang Xuan didn't dare go home, fearing Aunt Zhao would insist on sleeping in the same room.
On the day his mother was due to give birth, Tang Xuan arrived at the hospital early. Seeing the worried look on Tang Qinghua's face, Tang Xuan smiled. "How about that? I told you it would be today. Call me brother and let me hear it."
Tang Qinghua was resentful, but he was a man of his word. "Brother." Then he asked, "How did you know she would give birth today?"
Tang Xuan couldn't forget his own birthday, but he couldn't tell Tang Qinghua. "It's a secret."
Just then, Zhao Ran arrived at the hospital, her face full of resentment the moment she saw Tang Xuan. Because he feared she would make him sleep in the same room, Tang Xuan hadn't been home for two nights. Zhao Ran pinched the soft flesh on his waist. "Where have you been the last two nights? Why didn't you come home!"
Tang Xuan had no way to explain his suffering. He couldn't tell her he was avoiding home just because he didn't want to sleep in the same room as her.
Suddenly, the delivery room door was pushed open. A nurse ran toward Tang Qinghua in a panic. "Your wife is having a difficult labor; the situation is critical. Come with me to sign the forms now."
Tang Qinghua was dumbfounded. Tang Xuan suddenly recalled something: in his previous life, his mother would suffer from physical discomfort whenever it was cloudy or rainy. Sometimes, she would even pass out from the pain. Was this the lingering effect from this moment?
Without time to think, Tang Xuan walked straight toward the delivery room.
"Hey, what are you doing? This is a restricted area! You can't go in there!"
Inside, You Zhen had already lost consciousness. Seeing the uninvited guest, the doctors and nurses immediately shouted, "How did you get in here? Get out immediately!"
"The patient is in critical condition! Why are you here causing trouble?"
"If something happens to the mother, can you take responsibility?"
Tang Xuan said in a deep voice, "You can all leave; you aren't needed here."
"What nonsense are you spouting? This is a hospital! If we aren't needed, who is—you?"
Tang Xuan had no patience for their chatter. "Get out."
"Fine, I'll leave! You had better take full responsibility if something goes wrong."
The medical staff exited the room. Tang Qinghua asked, "Doctor, what’s going on? Why are you all coming out?"
The doctor looked arrogant. "The man who barged in told us to get out. He said he would take responsibility for whatever happens. It has nothing to do with me."
"Who is that blind fool to you?" the doctor asked.
"My brother," Tang Qinghua replied.
The doctor sneered, "Prepare for your wife and child's funeral. I am the best obstetrician in Jiangcheng; without me, there is no way she will come out of there alive."
Tang Qinghua’s legs went weak. "How could this happen? How could this happen?"
The doctor mocked, "Having a brother like that is truly your tragedy."
"Doctor, please, find a way!"
"Does it have anything to do with me? He’s the one who kicked me out."
Tang Qinghua tried to rush into the delivery room, but the door was blocked by an invisible force; no matter how hard he pushed, it wouldn't budge.
Half an hour later, the delivery room door finally opened. Tang Xuan walked out first.
The doctor said coldly, "Do you have any idea how stupid you are for driving out the best obstetrician in Jiangcheng? You’ve killed two people; you really are quite capable."
Hearing the sarcasm, Tang Xuan replied, "If you couldn't do it, it only proves you're a failure."
The doctor’s eyes suddenly widened, staring in disbelief at the delivery room door.
