Why did you get into the kidnappers' vehicle?
When Wen Shuang awoke, she found herself in an abandoned factory. In front of her stood five or six men with ill intentions.
"Pretty little thing, you're finally awake. We were getting tired of waiting," one of them sneered.
Terror seized her mind in an instant. She remembered noticing the driver's route had deviated, and she had immediately sent her location to Tang Yan. Right after that, she'd been smothered and lost consciousness.
"Who are you? Did Qin You send you to abduct me?!" she demanded.
A man with a scar running down his face approached. "Doesn't matter who sent us. All you need to know is you messed with someone you shouldn't have. Orders from above were clear: we have to do it while you're conscious. That's why we've been waiting for you to wake up—otherwise, who could resist?" His coarse hand patted her delicate cheek as he leered. "Monkey, set up the camera. The boss wants shots from every angle!"
"Got it! This woman looks like a handful—bet she'll be wild once we get started!"
"Haven't had a beauty like this in ages. Let's show her a night she'll never forget," another chimed in, as they set up their phones to record, their eyes gleaming with depravity.
Forcing herself to stay calm, Wen Shuang said, "My father is a company president. If you let me go now, he'll give you ten million when I return—and I swear, I won't call the police!"
"Your father's already in prison, who do you think you're fooling?" The scar-faced man strode over and yanked off her coat.
Panic rose in her chest. Clearly, these thugs had investigated her family background.
She shrank back, her voice suddenly turning sweet and coy. "Come on, big brother, what's the rush? It's my first time—could you be gentle?"
No man could resist a beautiful woman acting coquettish.
The scar-faced man softened. "Fine, fine. I go first—rest of you wait your turn."
"Big brother, please, I don't want my first time to be here. Can't we go to a hotel?" She was desperately searching for any chance to get out of this remote factory—if she could just get outside, there might be hope.
She had no idea if her message to Tang Yan had gone through.
If this really was Qin You's doing, then he was utterly vile—no regard for past affection, deliberately setting her up to be ruined by these brutes.
A chill settled deep in her bones.
The scar-faced man saw right through her. "Forget going anywhere. I'll be gentle since it's your first time, but enough with the nonsense!"
He reached out and pawed at her body, his foul breath making her gag. Seizing her chance, Wen Shuang bit down hard on his ear; he howled in pain and slapped her viciously. "You filthy bitch! How dare you! Tonight I'll make you wish you were dead!"
Her clothes were being torn away. Wen Shuang squeezed her eyes shut, drowning in despair.
Suddenly, the shrill wail of police sirens split the air nearby.
"Damn! Boss, the cops are here!"
The scar-faced man spat on the ground. "Shit! Let's go!" He moved to drag Wen Shuang, but just then, a boot slammed into his chest. Ji Shen vaulted in from the factory's dark corner, his team following, subduing the thugs in no time.
Wen Shuang had never imagined Ji Shen would appear like a heavenly savior.
She collapsed on the ground, disheveled, her clothes torn and her pretty face marked by a swollen handprint.
Ji Shen landed another punishing blow on the scarred thug.
"Officer Ji..."
A police uniform dropped from above, covering her exposed body completely.
Ji Shen frowned. "Can you walk?"
Her legs buckled with fear—she couldn’t stand.
He bent down and swept her into his arms.
She clung to his neck, her beautiful eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Officer Ji, I... I thought I’d never see you again."
"As long as I’m here, you’re safe," he said in a low, hoarse voice, carrying her to the police car.
"Captain Ji, what should we do with those thugs?"
"Take them all back to the station!"
Ji Shen drove Wen Shuang to the hospital that very night.
The doctor said she had low blood sugar and had suffered severe shock; she’d need a couple of days to recover, and was put on several IV drips.
Ji Shen went to pay the fees.
"Hello, sir. Your girlfriend’s hospitalization and medication totals three thousand yuan," the nurse at the desk said.
Ji Shen paused for a moment, eyes lowered, but didn’t correct her. He paid.
By the time he finished handling her admission, Wen Shuang was already asleep in the ward. Her pale wrist lay limply beside her, an IV dripping into her vein. Her face was so white it was nearly translucent. Her brows were furrowed, plagued by nightmares. "Don’t come near... stay away!" she whimpered.
Ji Shen took her hand.
Sensing safety even in her sleep, Wen Shuang gradually calmed down.
Though he still resented her deceit, seeing her so fragile, so nearly violated, he found himself unable to speak a single harsh word.
Ji Shen returned to the station and began interrogations.
The thugs stuck to their story—they’d acted on impulse, no one had ordered them.
Ji Shen’s gaze was sharp. "If no one ordered you, why were there so many cameras set up at the scene?"
"We just like the thrill, and that woman’s a beauty. Videos of her would sell for a lot online!"
His eyes grew colder.
"Where did you first see her?"
"Rose Hotel. She looked like she was there for a hook-up. We just wanted to make it more exciting for her."
Ji Shen’s frown deepened.
When Wen Shuang woke, dawn was breaking. Outside the window, tree branches were lush and green, birds chirped. It had been a long time since she’d seen such a peaceful scene.
She looked around and realized she was in a VIP hospital ward.
She tried to discharge herself, but the nurse stopped her. "Miss, your body is still very weak. You need at least two more days of rest. And your boyfriend already paid your fees."
"My boyfriend?"
"Yes! The tall, handsome man who carried you in last night—he stayed by your side for hours," the nurse replied, her eyes full of envy.
Wen Shuang forced an awkward smile. "Sorry, he... isn’t my boyfriend."
In a way, he was more like a failed hookup.
As she finished speaking, a tall, striking figure strode into the room, followed by several police officers.
Ji Shen, in full uniform, looked even more imposing and disciplined, his features severe and compelling, exuding both capability and restraint.
Wen Shuang immediately sat upright. "Officer Ji."
The atmosphere felt like an impending arrest.
"Miss Wen, I’m here regarding your abduction. There are a few key points I need to clarify."
An assistant officer opened his notebook to begin the statement.
Ji Shen’s gaze was piercing, and Wen Shuang’s heart beat a little faster.
"Please, officer, go ahead."
Ji Shen stood over her, authoritative.
"Miss Wen, may I ask why you willingly got into the kidnappers’ car last night?"
