Chapter 151: Good Brothers Die Together
Lin Zhan finally emerged because some small insects were crawling around in the woods.
Inside the Nanguang Abyss, no living creature could be underestimated. Heaven knows what kind of origins they had; getting ambushed by accident was no laughing matter.
However, the way Lin Zhan walked looked exceptionally strange to Wu Zhi and Wu Cong. His legs were spread wide apart, swaying in an awkward, exaggerated pigeon-toed manner, as if he were afraid of pulling a muscle.
Moreover, his upper body seemed to be struggling hard to maintain balance, with his arms swinging slowly in a somewhat exaggerated fashion. The entire process was done in slow motion, easily more than twice as slow as a normal walking pace.
Not only that, but his gravity seemed to have been reduced significantly. With a single lift of his step, his entire body would rise into the air before slowly descending—this must be what people back home called the moonwalk.
Especially the smile plastered across Lin Zhan's face; in the eyes of the two men, it looked exceptionally bizarre.
Damn it, this was clearly a provocation!
Wu Zhi flicked the long sword in his hand, spinning a sword flower, and struck directly at Lin Zhan's face. This was a vicious sword strike, and by the looks of it, intended to kill him with a single blow.
"What the heck, so ruthless!" Lin Zhan muttered inwardly, immediately executing a teleportation.
He had no choice but to use teleportation because his bodily sensations were currently so ethereal and otherworldly that other methods were rather difficult to control. Thus, teleporting was his immediate reaction before considering launching any counterattacks against these people.
Though his body didn't feel like his own, his spiritual sense was completely unharmed. Among this group of people, Lin Zhan noticed a strangely familiar aura.
However, due to poor control, this teleportation carried him a long way off. Along the way, he knocked down several trees as thick as a bowl, and was finally stopped only by an immensely thick tree, preventing him from drifting any further.
To Wu Shan and the others watching from not far away, it looked as though Lin Zhan had been sent flying by a blow.
Wu Zhi and Wu Cong were instantly dumbfounded and completely baffled. The fight hadn't even landed, so how on earth had he gone flying?!
Lin Zhan's body was treated like a ball because of his "immortal bone and transcendent wind." Although he knew he had fractures in multiple places, it didn't hurt much; he just felt depressed. How did this little teleportation turn into a massive teleportation, and how was he supposed to control this thing properly?
He decided to go back—to return right in front of Wu Zhi and Wu Cong and ask how the tournament finals were going. In an era lacking information flow, such questions were endlessly annoying.
How to get back? Teleportation it was. Surely he would be able to control it a bit better this time. Coincidentally, Wu Zhi was also shouting, "Damn it, get your ass over here right now!"
Lin Zhan desperately wanted to hurl abuses back, but in his current state, trying to look fierce would probably just come across as utterly comical. On second thought, he decided to let it go—getting bitten by a dog didn't mean you had to bite the dog back.
He muttered inwardly, "Just wait until I get over there, you guys are going to be in for a miserable time!"
Lin Zhan did not look down on this group. Every single one of these dozen or so people was above the second grade of the Yellow Realm. Had he not broken through to the early stage of the third grade of the Yellow Realm, he truly wouldn't have dared to appear before them so brazenly.
Facing Wu Zhi and Wu Cong, however, he should still be able to handle them.
Lin Zhan adjusted his direction, channeled the Yellow Realm spiritual energy within his body, and teleported...
"Alas, since when does even using a teleportation skill require walking on thin ice like this?"
Yet, the more one feared something, the easier it was for problems to occur. At that moment, Wu Cong also began pointing a large finger, then curled it back toward his own direction, pulling back his throat and shouting, "You... get over here!"
Lin Zhan teleported right over, looking as though he had been telekinetically pulled across the space by Wu Cong.
Object manipulation was something Yellow Realm cultivators would casually use, practice, or experience when they had nothing to do, but manipulating a human being was something practically never seen before. Because a human was living while an object was dead—two completely different concepts.
Yet, in the eyes of the bystanders, Lin Zhan was clearly being beckoned and sucked over by Wu Cong's pointing gesture.
Lin Zhan's body traced a graceful trajectory through the air. The trees in the middle had already been snapped previously, so this was essentially a return along the exact same path, meaning he encountered zero resistance this time. With the shadows of an immortal traversing the realm, hair fluttering at the ends, and robes billowing intensely, he possessed an almost all-angle, dead-spot-free, incredibly powerful aura of divine immortality.
Such an immortal aura should probably only be maintainable in mid-air, yet once again, he failed to control it properly. Over the final dozen yards of the distance, Lin Zhan's body suddenly accelerated, crashing forward like a meteorite from beyond the heavens!
Sensing this, Lin Zhan hurriedly curled his body inward and produced a white bone pagoda in his hands, holding it out in front of him. Naturally, the tip of the pagoda pointed outward—he naturally had to protect his own body...
Bang!
Wu Zhi and Wu Cong were standing very close, one right behind the other. This collision first slammed straight into Wu Cong's embrace, the inertia sending the two of them tumbling backward together until they crashed into Wu Zhi, continuing to carry them flying for a distance before finally coming to a halt.
Lin Zhan immediately bounced back up, looking as though he were ascending to immortality.
Meanwhile, Wu Cong—who had just curled his fingers moments ago—stumbled to his feet, looked down at his own fingers in a daze, and then gazed further down. There was a huge gaping hole in his chest and abdomen, with a sword blade and the hand gripping it protruding right through.
He recognized that as the sword in Wu Zhi's hand, except he couldn't for the life of him figure out when Wu Zhi's swordsmanship had become so unfathomably profound.
Because the through-and-through wound piercing the front and back of his chest and abdomen presented a cone shape—wide in the front and narrow in the back—which completely mismatched the shape of a sword.
Furthermore, why was a hand sticking out too, what the hell?!
Wu Zhi collapsed. Since there were many things he couldn't figure out, he would never have to think about them ever again.
Wu Cong behind him was even more baffled. He had been standing there properly with his sword just moments before, but due to this sudden impact from the front, he didn't even have time to retract his blade, watching helplessly as the tip plunged straight into his senior brother's back. At the same time, his own sword brushed past a strange white object.
That sharp white tip seemed to violently pierce straight through Wu Zhi, and then brutally carried him crashing into himself. Holy crap, the white tip pierced completely through him as well before zipping away rapidly—what on earth was that damn thing?!
With Wu Zhi falling in the front, Wu Cong naturally collapsed right along with him in the back, because Wu Cong's hand was still positioned in front of the other person. Their chests and backs pressed tightly against one another, entangled together. Such affectionate and loyal fellow apprentices, dying in such an intimate embrace with no clear boundary between them—it was truly quite touching...
Swish!
In an instant, a dozen gazes that had previously been indifferent now turned razor-sharp.
"Hi..." Lin Zhan landed lightly, executed a slow-motion stumble, finally steadied himself, and waved from afar.
Shui Xinhxin's eyes lit up, and she stood up involuntarily, murmuring inwardly in bewilderment: "Why do this person and all these movements look so much like my own?!"
Wu Shan and the others rushed over, only to see that both Wu Zhi and Wu Cong had already kicked the bucket, and died in a thoroughly bizarre fashion at that.
These people only blamed themselves for letting their guard down to rest, eat, and drink earlier, failing to focus their attention on this side.
Normally speaking, Wu Zhi and Wu Cong only ever bullied others; how could they possibly have met such a tragic end out of nowhere?
