Chapter 103: Successful Rescue (Fifth Update, Please Subscribe!)
"Over there, hurry, hurry! Everyone, follow me now!"
Chaotic footsteps sounded.
As Tang Wulin stared in terror, the remaining personnel in the base came running swiftly from the four corridors—front, back, left, and right—around the great hall.
Leading them was a middle-aged man.
Su Jingxing, whose qi and blood had been fully suppressed and whose limbs had largely recovered, glanced over from a distance and recognized him.
Shi Jinzhou—Shi Yanfeng's father—a sixth-rank martial artist.
As for the rest, they were mostly guards, each carrying a submachine gun.
Shwoosh!
Ignoring Shi Jinzhou and his men, Su Jingxing charged with his blade toward Tang Wulin.
Compared to Shi Jinzhou, Tang Wulin was the greater threat.
"Damn it!"
Tang Wulin's pupils contracted, his body tensing as he hurriedly rolled on the ground before scrambling to his feet and fleeing into the left corridor—the one Shi Jinzhou's group was running from.
With his true qi spent and stamina nearly depleted, he didn't dare clash head-on with Su Jingxing now.
But though he wanted to run, Su Jingxing wouldn't allow it.
Human Yuan—
Headwind Single Slash!
Surging River Thousand-Cavalry Slash!
Soaring Dragon Overlord Slash!
Shwoosh! Shwoosh! Shwoosh!
"Whoosh~" "Whoosh~" "Whoosh~"
The blade wind howled; blade qi rent the air.
Silver-black blade qi came wave after wave, slash stacking upon slash, every single one striking the fleeing Tang Wulin.
"Thud! Thud! Thud~"
Blood sprayed wildly from Tang Wulin's body—first his arms separated from his torso, then his legs were severed, then his trunk split into five pieces, and finally his head was sent flying into the air.
His entire body was dismembered piece by piece mid-stride, his skull hurtling forward to smash into Shi Jinzhou, who was charging toward him.
Thud~!
A dull sound echoed through the corridor.
Shi Jinzhou stumbled back a few steps, waving for those behind him to halt. His face was full of horror as he stared at Tang Wulin's corpse on the ground, then lifted his gaze to see Su Jingxing at the corridor's exit. His legs couldn't stop trembling.
"O—open fire! Everyone, open fire now!"
Shi Jinzhou roared in a quavering voice.
Rat-tat-tat!
Bang, bang, bang!
In an instant, bullets flew all around Su Jingxing—front, back, left, and right—sparks bursting wildly.
But trying to deal with him using firearms? Shi Jinzhou was dreaming.
Swish~ Swish~!
Treading the *Eight-Step Ascending Dragon*, a treasure-grade war blade in hand, Su Jingxing's figure darted left and lunged right, dodging with fluid grace. In the blink of an eye, he crossed the dozens of meters and charged headlong, blade and all, straight into the formation where Shi Jinzhou stood.
And then—
"Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah~"
Thud! Thud! Thud~!
The blade edge roared; blade qi shrieked.
Amid the screams, the squad Shi Jinzhou led was slain to the last man within a dozen seconds, severed limbs and broken bodies littering the ground.
Among them, Shi Jinzhou, a sixth-rank, lasted five seconds—the longest of all.
Su Jingxing dealt with him purely through raw physical might, pairing it with the Human Yuan section of the *Tri-Yuan Blade Art* to forcibly hack through Shi Jinzhou's protective true qi and split him in two.
That side settled—
Shwoosh!
Having collected card after card, Su Jingxing swiftly turned and returned to the great hall, charging toward the other squads that had opened fire.
Still the blade edge roared, blade qi shrieked.
Treading the *Eight-Step Ascending Dragon*, Su Jingxing's form drifted and dodged with nimble grace as he cut every last one of them down beneath his blade.
Card after card, he picked them up—pick, pick, pick!
With Shi Jinzhou's group dead, the base's defensive forces were finally all dealt with.
Under the hail of gunfire, Su Jingxing had taken a few rounds, but his skin wasn't even broken—only a few white marks remained. He was, however, splattered with quite a bit of blood.
He took out a cloth from his palm-space and wiped himself down, casually tearing off half a human-skin mask and discarding it.
After wiping clean, Su Jingxing put his clothes and cloak back on, and donned his mask.
Then he headed straight for the holding cells.
"Ah!"
"Ah~!"
"Don't kill me! Don't kill me!"
The moment he entered the holding room, shrill screams erupted from all sides.
The girls the Shi family had captured from various places huddled inside iron cages, screaming ceaselessly, cowering in the corners in terror, not daring to look outside.
Su Jingxing didn't release them immediately. He walked past cage after cage, his gaze searching for Gu Duoduo's figure.
After passing ten cages, he finally spotted the little girl.
Five years old, she was currently held in a young woman's arms, curled up in a corner, both of them trembling nonstop.
"Alive—that's what matters!"
Su Jingxing said inwardly, letting out a breath of relief. But he didn't release them just yet. Instead, he returned outside.
First, he retrieved his three treasure-grade flying blades. Then he went to the storeroom and scooped up a few barrels of corpse-dissolving fluid.
Carrying the fluid, he walked through the base, pouring it over every corpse he'd killed, reducing them all to pools of liquid.
A thick, acrid stench spread through the base.
Through it all, Su Jingxing opened the ventilation as he walked, and finally returned to the holding room to unlock the iron cages one by one.
"Everyone, get out now!"
No gentle words—Su Jingxing lowered his voice and barked at the people cowering in the cages. "If you don't come out, you die this instant!"
"Ah!" "Ah~"
Shrill screams continued without end.
But there was no need for Su Jingxing to urge them again. Everyone scrambled out of the cages, formed a line on their own, heads lowered, bodies shaking.
Su Jingxing offered no comfort. He drove them out of the holding room, out of the passage, out of the base.
Throughout the entire process, among the crowd of over a hundred—young and old alike—screams kept ringing out.
But gradually, the screams grew fewer, and cries of surprise and joy rose one after another.
Though they still couldn't fully believe it, the intention of safely leaving the base was unmistakable.
They realized they might actually be saved!
Some even plucked up the courage to ask Su Jingxing questions.
He ignored them all, only roughly driving them forward through the quiet early-morning mountain forest, now bright with dawn.
Every Shi family base received deliveries of supplies, equipment, and intelligence daily.
If he didn't get these people away quickly, they'd absolutely run into Shi family members of varying strength.
The lower three ranks were manageable, but if a mid three-rank expert showed up, Su Jingxing wouldn't be able to look after Gu Duoduo and the others.
That was why he'd spoken not a single gentle word from start to finish.
Time was simply too tight!
...
Two mountains east of Turtleback Mountain, there was a farm town.
Su Jingxing's final task was to escort Gu Duoduo and the others—over a hundred people—to the edge of the town.
Taking mountain paths, and with a group of women who were exhausted in body and spirit from days of fear, the pace could only be imagined.
Pressed for time, Su Jingxing had no choice but to force-feed each of them an essence-qi pill.
After taking them, their pace finally picked up considerably. Leaning on one another, the older carrying the younger, the whole group stumbled and staggered over two mountain ridges to reach the outermost fields of the farm town.
Here, Su Jingxing stopped. He let everyone continue forward while he executed the *Eight-Step Ascending Dragon*, leaping into the air, and punched an uninhabited house to pieces midair—creating a commotion to draw the farm's attention.
Then, riding the wind, he rose into the sky, leaving behind a dragon-shaped trail as the cries and thanks of everyone on the ground echoed beneath him—until he vanished beyond the horizon.
...
Back at the small courtyard at the foot of the mountain.
After washing up and changing into clean clothes, Su Jingxing took out all the cards he'd collected.
"Let's see what this trip's haul looks like."
