“Qin Fei, the ice cream is delicious.”

Watching the Hedoru Beast hiding under the table and devouring its treat, Qin Fei could only hand over his own ice cream as well. Apparently, Hedoru Beast was quite fond of the cold, sweet flavor—this was already its fifth helping.

“Will a Digimon really appear?”

As the twilight dimmed, Lorita Beast, bored out of her mind, began playing with her own hair. She had been eagerly awaiting an exhilarating battle.

“It will…”

Qin Fei glanced at the sky. He knew that only when true night fell would the Digimon appear as expected.

Night descended swiftly.

By the time Touma took little Yuri and her mother for a ride on the Ferris wheel, dusk had all but surrendered to the darkness.

Qin Fei stood up, fingering the DATS communicator in his hand. He had to act before Touma, seizing this mission for himself… Let Touma and the others enjoy a well-deserved break. Acting alone actually gave him more freedom.

“…”

“Qin Fei, I sense a Digimon’s presence…”

Suddenly, Lorita Beast, who had been lazily sprawled on the table, perked up, her spirit instantly revived. She looked around the still bustling amusement park with excitement.

“There!”

She paused, then tilted her head upward. Sure enough, an uncanny sight, like a black hole, appeared in the grove of the amusement park. Hidden by the night, it drew little attention.

“This is Qin Fei. A rampaging Digimon has appeared in sector U308. The target is…”

Qin Fei immediately activated his DATS communicator, suppressing a smile as he watched a Digimon emerge, enormous and bomb-shaped. “One Bomb Abelmon.”

“Requesting area lockdown…”

Not long after, Shuna’s response came through the communicator: “Digimon presence confirmed. Lockdown initiated for sector U308.”

Then Samo’s grave voice followed: “Qin Fei, remain on site until reinforcements arrive. Touma is in the area as well—rendezvous as soon as possible.”

“Sorry, but leave this Digimon to me. I’ve had enough of it…”

“What? What do you mean? Qin Fei—”

Ignoring the voice calling from the communicator, Qin Fei cut off the sound, though the signal remained connected.

“Lolo, this is your prey. Finish it before Touma arrives.”

As Lorita Beast, now transformed back to her original Digimon form, bared her sharp teeth in excitement, Qin Fei produced her Digivice.

“Card swap! Unimon, Holy Shot!”

Lorita Beast gripped her crimson flintlock, charging at Bomb Abelmon, towering like a small mountain.

“Tired of living, you brat?”

Bomb Abelmon sneered as the small figure rushed toward him, pulling out a bomb with a lit fuse, ready to hurl it at Lorita Beast and blast her sky-high.

But before he could throw the bomb, a bullet imbued with holy light struck his hand, detonating the bomb in his grasp—

“Boom!!!”

“Dammit! You brat, I’ll blow you to pieces!”

The searing pain in his hand sent Bomb Abelmon into a frenzy. With his other, uninjured hand, he conjured another bomb, intent on hurling it at Lorita Beast again.

But this time, a shining bullet pierced his knee, causing Bomb Abelmon to topple forward helplessly, the bomb slipping from his grip to the ground.

“Boom!”

The explosion at his feet sent him staggering, flipping him over and slamming him heavily to the ground.

“Damn you, brat! I’ll blow you all up together—every last one of you!”

Enraged, Bomb Abelmon began producing bombs in droves.

“Qin Fei!”

Lorita Beast leapt back, distancing herself from Bomb Abelmon, even trying to pull Qin Fei away from the battlefield.

If Bomb Abelmon detonated all at once, the area would be reduced to rubble, endangering Qin Fei and any civilians yet to evacuate… unless they dealt with him quickly.

“If only we could toss him into the sky,” Qin Fei muttered, caught in a dilemma. Lorita Beast didn’t have any skill that could launch Bomb Abelmon upward.

“Let me digivolve, Qin Fei.”

“It’s the only way.”

He had hoped to resolve the situation quietly, but that was clearly impossible now.

“EVOLUTION.”

“Lorita Beast digivolve to… Wrath Tiger Saintess Beast!”

The red alert lights flashed incessantly.

Inside the DATS command center, faces were filled with alarm as they watched the rapidly surging Digimon energy on the screen.

“Captain Samo, there’s an unfamiliar Digimon signal. It’s enormous—greater than most we’ve ever detected… It could be an Ultimate-level!”

“This is bad. Little Qin Fei and Touma are still there. If it really is Ultimate-level, they’re in danger!”

Realizing this, Shuna grabbed the emergency phone to place the guards on highest alert.

“Wait!”

Samo’s voice silenced everyone. He said nothing more, just removed his headset and switched the communication to external speakers.

“This is Qin Fei, this is Qin Fei… I’m dealing with Bomb Abelmon. Everything is under control… No unexpected developments, no need to panic. We’re safe.”

Kei Shirakawa, hearing the familiar voice over the headset, looked at Captain Samo in disbelief. “That commotion was caused by that kid?”

“Let’s talk when he gets back. For now, keep a close watch on sector U308 and disregard the Digimon energy reading.”

“Yes, sir!”

Meanwhile, Qin Fei set down the communicator and refocused on the battle unfolding before him.

“You little brat!!!”

Facing the tiger-bodied, human-faced Digimon, Bomb Abelmon felt an overwhelming sense of dread rise within him. He knew he couldn’t defeat this unfamiliar Digimon, but his stubborn unwillingness to give in drove him to a desperate gamble.

“Countdown!”

The fuse atop Bomb Abelmon’s head suddenly sparked, transforming him into a bomb the size of a hill.

Qin Fei’s expression grew grave. He knew this was a self-destructive final move—Bomb Abelmon had become a living bomb, hoping to destroy himself and unleash an explosion capable of annihilating his foe.

“Lolo!”

“Leave it to me!”

At Qin Fei’s command, the tiger-bodied, human-faced Lolo spread her wings wide and soared above Bomb Abelmon.

“Divine Wind Wings!”

A fierce whirlwind erupted from the ground, engulfing Bomb Abelmon. The cyclone, like a massive rope or vacuum, swept Bomb Abelmon up into the night sky…

“Become fireworks, you fool…”

Imitating Bomb Abelmon’s own catchphrase, Qin Fei bade him farewell.

“Boom!!!”

The pitch-black sky was suddenly filled with dazzling fireworks, their brilliance reflected in the joyous faces of every child gazing upward.

“Wow, fireworks! Real fireworks!”

As the children’s screams and the adults’ exclamations echoed from afar, Qin Fei breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the new card forming in his hand: “Bomb Abelmon, Champion level, Virus type, Special Move: Penalty Bomb…”
