Chapter 131: The Unfathomable Luo Hongyu
Lin Yang’s double pupils had successfully evolved to the second stage, yet they still required constant refinement. For the true power of the double pupil divine ability to manifest, it had to reach the third stage—a qualitative transformation.
Luo Hongyu still appeared here. Once the purple mist had completely dissipated, Lin Yang once again took the initiative to spar with her. Rumors in the martial arts world held that Luo Hongyu was the weakest of the four great grandmasters, but after these recent bouts, Lin Yang concluded that her strength was definitely superior to Cheng Kuo’s. Even Jiang Haisheng, a sixth-rank grandmaster, might not be her match.
"When did you learn the Eight Trigrams Palm?" Luo Hongyu asked with interest as she watched Lin Yang execute the technique.
"I pilfered it from my spar with Cheng Kuo yesterday," Lin Yang replied with a grin.
Luo Hongyu nodded slightly. "Your Eight Trigrams Palm, paired with the agility of your Three Thousand Thunder-Bolt movement technique, is executed better than Cheng Kuo’s. I imagine he must be furious."
"I used one move, and he was convinced of his defeat," Lin Yang said.
"Oh? Which move?" Luo Hongyu asked.
"Then I invite Grandmaster Luo to offer some pointers."
As soon as he spoke, Lin Yang’s figure moved like lightning, launching another attack. While Luo Hongyu was occupied with his assault, he suddenly struck with the Sky-Splitting Palm. Luo Hongyu twisted her body, and the palm strike hit a tree behind her, instantly snapping the small tree in two.
"A Profound-grade martial art. It’s a pity the power is still a bit lacking," Luo Hongyu commented without a hint of surprise.
Lin Yang withdrew his stance, noting her lack of reaction. Profound-grade martial arts were exceptionally difficult for grandmasters at the Innate True Realm to master. For instance, even if Lin Yang taught the Sky-Splitting Palm to Cheng Kuo, the latter wouldn't be able to perform it. The internal energy and meridian strength of an Innate True Realm practitioner could not support such a technique; forcing it would likely lead to a backlash, damaging one's own meridians.
The foundational technique Lin Yang practiced was the Dragon-Elephant Heaven-Shaking Art. Fierce, domineering, and a Divine-grade technique, it allowed his physique and meridians to far exceed those of ordinary grandmasters. Coupled with the tyrannical Dragon-Elephant internal energy, he was able to support the use of the Sky-Splitting Palm.
"Keep practicing. Once you master this technique, you will likely be invincible within the Innate True Realm," Luo Hongyu remarked.
"Grandmaster Luo, are you interested? I can teach it to you," Lin Yang asked.
"Not interested," Luo Hongyu replied bluntly.
"This is a Profound-grade martial art, and you’re not interested?" Lin Yang asked, puzzled.
Luo Hongyu only smiled faintly and said nothing more. "That’s enough for today. I’ll be heading off." She waved her hand and descended the mountain.
Watching her graceful silhouette, Lin Yang became even more curious. *What is Grandmaster Luo’s background? Her strength is unfathomable, and there’s always a sense of mystery about her.* He had a feeling that Luo Hongyu harbored great, unknown secrets. She was not like an ordinary person, nor an average martial arts grandmaster; she felt like a shroud of mist or a bottomless pool.
However, Lin Yang did not delve deeper. Everyone had their own secrets. Luo Hongyu was not an enemy, and though they couldn't quite be called friends yet, there was at least some camaraderie. Maintaining this relationship was sufficient.
When Lin Yang returned down the mountain, Lin Yimo had already woken up.
"Off to practice again?" Lin Yimo asked, her arms hooked around his neck, her eyes hazy with sleep.
Lin Yang nodded slightly. "Are you hungry?"
Lin Yimo pouted and nodded, then suddenly widened her eyes. "I’m truly hungry. Don't you dare try anything naughty; I can't take it."
Lin Yang laughed heartily. "Then hurry up and wash. I’ll take a shower too, and we’ll go out for breakfast."
At the breakfast shop, they chatted while they ate. Lin Yimo pulled out a tissue to wipe food from the corner of Lin Yang’s mouth. Just then, the Liu Chengzhi family walked into the shop, and they bumped into each other.
"Xiao Yang..." Although things had been unpleasant yesterday, Liu Chengzhi still felt a bit apologetic toward Lin Yang.
Yu Ping immediately glared at Liu Chengzhi and snapped, "Are you close with him? Why are you greeting him?"
Yu Ping was currently riding high; just yesterday, Liang Jian had been promoted to Vice President of the Wanhao Chamber of Commerce, and Liu Chengzhi had become a board member. The Liu family had finally gained a firm footing in the chamber, and their future looked increasingly bright. Neither Yu Ping nor Liu Chengzhi knew that this was entirely due to Murong Yun’s regard for Lin Yang; they assumed Liang Jian was the one helping them.
Liu Chengzhi fell silent and went to sit at a nearby table.
*So that’s the woman keeping him? She’s pretty, but looking at her clothes and temperament, she doesn't seem to have any real status or background,* Yu Ping thought, sizing Lin Yimo up.
"That’s not her. I know her; she was his high school classmate, the class beauty," Liu Fuyu said.
Lin Yimo glanced at Liu Fuyu and whispered to Lin Yang, "She’s the fiancée you were betrothed to, right?"
"You remember that?" Lin Yang laughed.
"Back in school, she followed you around all day and was always coming to our classroom to find you. Who wouldn't know her? It looks like your relationship isn't very good now?" Lin Yimo teased.
"They don't think much of me as a son-in-law anymore. They’ve cast me aside like worn-out shoes," Lin Yang replied, curling his lip.
"Huh? How could that be? You’re one of the five great grandmasters of Luocheng now. What kind of incredible background does the Liu family have to look down on a grandmaster?" Lin Yimo asked, looking at Liu Fuyu with disbelief.
"What are you looking at?" Liu Fuyu demanded arrogantly.
"If you weren't looking at me, how would you know I was looking at you?" Lin Yimo replied coolly.
"Who do you think you are, talking back to me!"
Ever since meeting Lin Yang again, Liu Fuyu had been repeatedly frustrated, leaving her feeling deeply aggrieved. Now that her father was a board member of the Wanhao Chamber of Commerce and Liang Jian was the Vice President, the arrogance hidden in her bones had resurfaced.
The air between them grew thick with tension. Lin Yimo was about to retort when she subconsciously glanced at Lin Yang.
"She’s insulting you. Do whatever you see fit; don't consider me at all. My grievances with the Liu family have been settled, and I have no further involvement with them," Lin Yang said.
Hearing this, Lin Yimo no longer felt the need to hold back.
"I am a human, so of course I’m not a 'thing.' As for you, your mouth smells foul. How do you have the nerve to walk into a breakfast shop? I suggest you have some self-awareness. Don't let your foul breath ruin everyone else's meal; it’s quite nauseating."
Lin Yimo wasn't skilled at arguing, but that didn't mean she lacked the power to fight back against attacks. Liu Fuyu was so furious she was practically fuming; she slammed her hand on the table and pointed at Lin Yimo.
"You’re the one with the foul mouth! I’ll tear your mouth apart!"
In her rage, Liu Fuyu moved to strike, but as she stood up, Yu Ping pulled her back.
"Xiaoyu, don't be impulsive. That Lin fellow is still here."
