Cao Yanling sat in Lin Yang’s car, feeling a bit anxious and worried herself.

“Which hospital?” Lin Yang asked.

“Luocheng First Hospital.”

Lin Yang started the car and sped off.

Wiping away her tears, Cao Yanling asked, “How exactly are you going to save my father? Doctor Qi said dragon's dew grass is essential.”

“That’s because his medical skills are lacking,” replied Lin Yang.

“Doctor Qi is the most famous physician in Luocheng, renowned for curing many difficult cases. Are you saying his skills aren’t good enough?”

“In front of me, he doesn’t even qualify to be called a divine doctor.”

Cao Yanling pursed her lips at his words. If she hadn’t been afraid to offend Lin Yang at this critical moment, she would have immediately retorted that he was being arrogant and boastful.

“So you mean your medical skills are exceptional?” she couldn’t help but ask.

“They’re certainly better than Qi Yixin’s,” Lin Yang said.

Cao Yanling, of course, didn’t believe him.

“May I ask your name?” she inquired.

“Lin Yang.”

Cao Yanling pondered for a moment, certain that she had never heard of anyone by that name in Luocheng.

“But who exactly are you? I know most of the outstanding young people in Luocheng. You managed to defeat Qi Tianming, proving your strength surpasses his, yet I’ve never heard of you or met you.”

She was full of curiosity.

“Is it so remarkable to be known by you?” Lin Yang retorted.

Cao Yanling was rendered speechless by his words, secretly annoyed. “What’s so cocky about him? If it weren’t for the dragon’s dew grass, I wouldn’t even care to know him!”

At that moment, Cao Yanling’s phone rang. It was her mother, Zhang Shuyun.

“Yanling, where are you? Are you in any danger? I heard the dragon’s dew grass was bought by someone who injured Qi Tianming, and you got into his car?” Zhang Shuyun was terrified by the news. With Cao Keming gravely ill, if anything happened to her daughter, she would be devastated.

“Mom, don’t worry, I’m fine. We’re on our way to the hospital.”

Hearing this, Zhang Shuyun’s heart eased a little.

“Did you get the dragon’s dew grass?”

“Well… sort of. I’ll be at the hospital soon.”

After hanging up, Cao Yanling quietly sent a message to her friends, asking them to look into Lin Yang’s background.

Lin Yang drove swiftly, covering the distance from Yixin Hall to the city hospital in less than ten minutes.

Actually, Lin Yang had two reasons for deciding to treat Cao Keming. First, in that situation, seeing Cao Yanling nearly crying and begging to kneel, he felt a slight pang of compassion. Second, Cao Keming had served as an official for many years and was well-regarded among the people of Luocheng, having done much for their welfare.

Had Cao Keming been a corrupt official with a terrible reputation, Lin Yang would never have intervened, even if the man were dying right before him.

Cao Yanling led Lin Yang to Cao Keming’s hospital room.

The room was crowded—not only her mother, but also Cao Keming’s secretary, bodyguards, several hospital directors, medical experts, and the famous Luocheng physician, Qi Yixin.

“Yanling, where’s the dragon’s dew grass?” Zhang Shuyun asked anxiously.

“It’s with him,” Cao Yanling pointed at Lin Yang.

“Hurry, give it to me!” Zhang Shuyun demanded.

“Did I say I would give it to you?” Lin Yang replied coolly.

“How dare you! I order you to hand over the dragon’s dew grass at once. The Cao family will not let you suffer any loss. If not, you won’t be able to bear the consequences.”

Zhang Shuyun’s tone was icy.

Lin Yang glanced at her, displeased. “Your daughter pleaded earnestly. Seeing her filial devotion, I agreed to come and help. If this is your attitude, then I’ll take my leave.”

Lin Yang turned to go.

“Stop!” Qi Yixin spoke first.

“So you’re the one who injured my son?”

“Exactly. Your son was outmatched and insisted on meddling. Isn’t it normal for him to get beaten?” Lin Yang replied.

“You insolent brat! Even the four great masters of Luocheng must show me some respect, yet you dare harm my son?”

Qi Yixin was furious.

“I already have. If you want to avenge him, I’m ready.”

Lin Yang raised his eyebrows.

“You—”

Though Qi Yixin considered himself skilled in medicine, he was no match in combat, and for the moment, he could do nothing about Lin Yang.

“Wretched boy, I’ll make sure you don’t live past today!” Qi Yixin threatened.

“Hand over the dragon’s dew grass, and we won’t pursue the matter of you injuring Doctor Qi’s son,” Zhang Shuyun interjected, still focused on the prize. She signaled Qi Yixin with a glance to cooperate.

Lin Yang sneered, ignored Zhang Shuyun, and turned to leave.

“Stop him!” Cao Keming’s bodyguard moved to intercept Lin Yang.

“Don’t!” Cao Yanling hurriedly stopped the bodyguard.

“Yanling, what are you doing?” Zhang Shuyun asked, puzzled.

“Mom, he’s here to save Dad. He said he has another way to cure him.”

After speaking, Cao Yanling quickly went to block Lin Yang.

“Lin Yang, don’t be angry. My mother doesn’t know the situation.”

She spoke gently, and Lin Yang finally came back.

“Miss Cao, you just said he has another way to cure Director Cao?” Qi Yixin asked.

Cao Yanling nodded.

“You believe such nonsense? All the experts at the city hospital couldn’t find a solution. I pondered for a long time before coming up with this prescription—the only way to save Director Cao. He’s just a young man; what could he possibly do? On what basis can he cure him?”

Qi Yixin spoke contemptuously.

“That’s right! Only Doctor Qi can save Director Cao now. Does he even know medicine?”

“Such an inexperienced youth—any intern from the hospital would be better than him.”

“I think he’s just here to cause trouble. Better to detain him first.”

The city hospital experts all sided with Qi Yixin, thoroughly belittling Lin Yang.

Lin Yang sneered coldly. “You couldn’t save him because your skills are mediocre—your medical knowledge shallow. That doesn’t mean I can’t. Truly, you’re frogs in a well.”

His words completely infuriated Qi Yixin along with the experts and directors.

“Young man, who are you calling frogs in a well?” the hospital director shouted angrily.

“Don’t misunderstand—I’m not singling anyone out. I mean all of you are frogs in a well,” Lin Yang replied, launching a collective attack with full force.

“Where did this insolent brat come from, speaking so recklessly?”

“Nowadays, young people are so ill-mannered, arrogant, daring to say anything.”

“Is this kid mentally unstable, spouting such nonsense?”

The experts were livid. They prided themselves on being the top medical talents in Luocheng, yet now Lin Yang—a mere youth—had called them frogs in a well and accused them of mediocrity. It was a tremendous insult.

Never had they encountered someone so brazen and unruly.

Saliva flew as they berated and scolded Lin Yang.

“Madam Cao, Miss Cao, Director Cao’s condition cannot be delayed. This boy is clearly a fool—only an idiot would believe his words.”

“I suggest we detain him and use the dragon’s dew grass to save Director Cao’s life,” Qi Yixin said.
