Chapter 46 The False Grandmaster
After Qi Yixin and the others left, Lin Yang also prepared to go out for breakfast.
Just then, Lin Yimo arrived driving her car.
“Lin Yang, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Why are you here?” Lin Yang asked.
“I was worried about you. After taking Grandpa to the hospital, I rushed over to check on you. Qi Tianyong hasn’t given you any trouble, has he?” Lin Yimo said.
“He’s already been here.”
Lin Yimo was startled. “He’s been here already? Are you unharmed?”
“I’m perfectly fine. He wouldn’t dare do anything to me, so there’s nothing for you to worry about.” Lin Yang smiled.
Lin Yimo breathed a sigh of relief, guessing in her heart that Wei Dagang must have resolved the issue. Hearing Lin Yang boast that Qi Tianyong wouldn’t dare touch him, she didn’t expose his bluff, nor did she mention that it was she who had asked Wei Dagang to intervene.
“As long as you’re alright. I’ll be heading off then.”
They exchanged contact numbers.
Before she left, Lin Yang said, “Class rep, if you ever run into trouble and need help, just call me. I’ll do whatever I can.”
Lin Yimo forced a faint smile, not taking his words seriously, chalking it up to more bravado.
“Alright, if I ever need anything, I’ll be sure to call you,” she replied, and then drove away.
After breakfast, Lin Yang returned home and continued brewing his medicines, preparing for a second medicinal bath.
Qin Monong slept until noon. Upon waking and finding Lin Yang gone, she called out a few times.
“That little scoundrel, gone after getting what he wanted. What a cad!”
After the tumultuous night, Qin Monong didn’t feel tired upon waking; instead, she felt refreshed and invigorated.
On the way to the company, Qin Monong received a call from Wang Huirong.
“Madam, is Lin Yang dead?”
“Duan Tiande is dead,” Qin Monong replied coolly.
“What? Even Duan Tiande wasn’t his match? How can that be!” Wang Huirong was incredulous.
“I saw it with my own eyes—do you think I’d lie? And another thing, whatever you gave me last night, if it weren’t for Lin Yang, I would’ve fallen right into Duan Tiande’s hands. He got what he deserved!”
Recalling the events of the previous night, Qin Monong still felt a lingering sense of fear.
“I’m sorry, Madam. I had no idea Duan Tiande would stoop so low and disregard the rules of the martial world.”
“But now that Lin Yang has killed Duan Tiande, his own death is not far off. Duan Tiande was the disciple of Grandmaster Jiang Haisheng. If we inform the grandmaster of this, he’s bound to act. No matter how skilled Lin Yang is, he won’t escape death.”
Wang Huirong remained loyal, continuing to give advice.
“Have you lost your mind? Jiang Haisheng has hundreds, if not a thousand, disciples. The death of one Duan Tiande means nothing to him,” Qin Monong said coldly.
The four grandmasters of Luo City held extraordinary status. Jiang Haisheng had established the Haitian Gang and accepted disciples from all walks of life.
All members of the Haitian Gang claimed to be Jiang Haisheng’s pupils, just as Murong Wan’er did—they were nominal disciples only.
Jiang Haisheng had only a handful of true personal disciples.
“Well... I do know someone else. He’s a direct disciple of Grandmaster Jiang, and he was close friends with Duan Tiande—a ninth-rank master. If we ask him to act, it should be more than enough to deal with Lin Yang.”
“That’s enough! Stay out of this. I know what I’m doing.”
Qin Monong hung up and hurried to the office.
Losing the partnership with Ding Sheng Group was no small blow for her, and it could lead to a series of subsequent problems. She had to address them quickly.
That afternoon, Murong Yun called Lin Yang.
“Mr. Lin, could you come over for a bit?”
Lin Yang had just finished his training, his strength markedly increased, and the true energy in his dantian was richer than before. Yet the medicinal bath’s side effects were equally pronounced.
The yang energy he’d spent so thoroughly on Qin Monong the night before was already building up again.
There was nothing for it—he had to resort to more traditional, solitary methods to relieve himself.
But he soon discovered that these methods were ineffective, releasing only a trace of the excess yang, nowhere near enough to solve the problem.
“It seems only the true union of yin and yang, the harmony of hard and soft, can balance this surplus yang energy. The old methods just don’t work anymore.”
At that moment, Murong Yun’s call came through. Lin Yang suppressed the surging energy within him, got in his car, and set out.
Arriving at the Murong family estate, he was greeted at the gate by Murong Yun and Murong Wan’er themselves.
Faced with two stunning women, Lin Yang felt the fire within him stir uncontrollably.
At this moment, he was like someone who’d taken a potent aphrodisiac, finding it hard to control his desires at the mere sight of a woman.
“What’s the matter?” Lin Yang asked.
“Last night, you injured Chen Ziling, which means we’re officially at war with the Chen family. Knowing Chen Tianhao’s nature, he will certainly seek revenge,” Murong Yun explained as they walked.
“Let him come if he wants revenge,” Lin Yang replied.
Murong Wan’er quickly added, “The Chen family itself isn’t so fearsome, but the Black Tiger Gang backing them shouldn’t be underestimated. My sister’s worried about your safety, so she’s reported the matter to the clan, asking for assistance.”
The Murong family in Luo City was just a branch—its true power lay in the provincial capital, ranking among the top noble families in the entire South Province.
“And then?” Lin Yang asked.
“The clan has sent a grandmaster to deal with the Chen family. My sister thought you should meet, so you can coordinate your efforts.”
“Alright.”
Hearing that a congenital grandmaster had arrived, Lin Yang was intrigued.
The three of them made their way to a pavilion in the estate, where Murong Zhang was keeping company with the grandmaster sent by the clan.
The man appeared to be in his fifties, his temples touched with white, his gaze as sharp as an eagle’s, his aura fierce and commanding.
“Allow me to introduce our family’s honored guest, Kou Yuanshan, Grandmaster Kou,” Murong Zhang announced, standing to perform the introductions. He then turned to Kou Yuanshan, “Grandmaster Kou, this is Mr. Lin Yang—a truly remarkable young man, not only a masterful physician but also a congenital grandmaster in his own right.”
Lin Yang cupped his fists in greeting. “Greetings, Grandmaster Kou.”
Kou Yuanshan glanced at Lin Yang but did not rise, merely nodding, maintaining his lofty demeanor.
Fearing Lin Yang might take offense, Murong Yun quickly said, “Please, Mr. Lin, have a seat.”
Kou Yuanshan said, “There was no need to summon him at all. As for Chen Tianhao—trivial. I could suppress him with a wave of my hand. Bringing him along will only be a hindrance.”
“Young man, you may leave. With me here, you’re not needed,” Kou Yuanshan said, casting Lin Yang a dismissive glance.
Murong Zhang and Murong Yun were both embarrassed, not expecting Kou Yuanshan to look down on Lin Yang so openly or to speak so harshly.
“Grandmaster Kou, we mustn’t underestimate the enemy! We still don’t know the full extent of Chen Tianhao’s strength, and with Mr. Lin here, we have an extra layer of security. After all, he is a grandmaster too!” Murong Yun emphasized, hoping Kou Yuanshan would show some respect.
Whether Kou Yuanshan failed to understand or simply didn’t care, he replied with disdain, “Just entering the innate realm doesn’t make you a true grandmaster—merely a pretender. Boy, when you reach the second rank, then you’ll have the right to stand as my equal.”
