When Lin Yang saw Murong Yun, he greeted her and led her upstairs to the study.

Shen Limin and Liu Julan had never met Murong Yun before either, but they were both struck by her beauty.

“Which family’s daughter is that? She’s so beautiful,” Liu Julan remarked.

“Judging from her attire and bearing, she must be the heiress of some powerful family—perhaps even the young master’s girlfriend,” Shen Limin replied.

Just then, Shen Youwei came in and explained to her parents that this was none other than the famous Miss Murong Yun, the eldest daughter of the illustrious Murong family.

The elderly couple had long heard her name and were stunned.

“I knew it! Who else could be so beautiful and poised except the Murong heiress herself?” Liu Julan exclaimed.

“That the young master knows her! He’s far more impressive now than he was two years ago. Even when Mr. and Mrs. Lin were alive, they didn’t have such connections,” Shen Limin added.

Upstairs in the study, Lin Yang asked, “What brings you here?”

“Can’t I come see you for no reason?” Murong Yun replied with a question of her own.

“Miss Murong, you’re always so busy. How could you have time to waste on trivial matters?”

“Becoming friends with you is hardly trivial—it’s a top priority,” Murong Yun said with a smile.

“By the way, who’s downstairs?” she asked.

“My father’s former driver, and his wife used to be our housekeeper. They watched me grow up. They’ve run into some trouble and have nowhere else to go, so they’re staying here for now,” Lin Yang explained.

“That young girl is quite pretty. Is she their daughter?” Murong Yun asked.

Lin Yang nodded.

“So the two of you grew up together—childhood sweethearts, then?”

“Are you jealous?” Lin Yang teased.

“Why would I be jealous? But if my sister finds out there’s a pretty girl living with you, she’ll probably be furious,” Murong Yun replied.

Seizing the moment, Lin Yang brought out the manual for the Evergreen Pine and Crane Fist and handed it to Murong Yun.

“Take this manual with you. Both Jiang Zuofeng and Wan’er can practice it.”

Murong Yun leafed through the manual casually, knowing that anything Lin Yang gave would never be ordinary.

“Then I’ll thank you on their behalf.”

“In fact, there is something I need to discuss,” she continued.

“Go on,” Lin Yang prompted.

“There’s a patient at the city’s First Hospital. Could you go and have a look?”

“This patient—is it the same one Han Liqun mentioned?” Lin Yang asked.

“The hospital director has already spoken to you?”

“I ran into Han Liqun at the hospital this morning. He mentioned it, but I didn’t respond. What sort of patient prompts you to seek me out in person?” Lin Yang asked.

“Have you heard of the Qin family of Fengyang?”

“I’ve heard a little—they are one of the Four Great Families of Longnan, the largest clans in the southern provinces.”

The Four Great Families of Longnan were renowned throughout the southern provinces, and even across the entire country, their reputation was formidable. Compared to them, even the Murong clan of the southern capital paled in significance.

“It seems the Qin family of Fengyang is looking to expand into the southern capital. They’ve sent people to investigate various cities, and Luocheng, with its rich history and culture, was selected. The head of their delegation arrived in person, but suffered a sudden medical crisis last night and was taken to the First Hospital. There’s been no improvement. I only learned of this today. The clan is eager to establish ties with the Qin family and is pressuring me to do something about it.”

“In their eyes, this is a golden opportunity.”

“I see. But you’re not a doctor—don’t you think they’re asking too much of you?” Lin Yang said.

“The clan sits high above and issues commands without caring how difficult things are for those below. Besides, Kou Yuanshan has returned to the clan and reported me. With his own backers, the clan is pressuring me as punishment,” Murong Yun replied.

Though she appeared to stand at the top of Luocheng’s social pyramid, in the greater Murong clan she was merely a functionary of a branch family, subject to many frustrations.

“That old man dared to complain? Looks like I went too easy on him—he hasn’t learned his lesson,” Lin Yang said.

“Fortunately, I’ve had the honor of meeting a miracle doctor like you, so I have no choice but to beg for your help,” Murong Yun said, her face full of pitiful appeal.

“There’s no shortage of famous doctors in the southern capital. The Qin family’s connections are vast. Surely they could find any miracle worker they wanted. Why would they need me?” Lin Yang was reluctant. It wasn’t yet time for him to reveal his skills, especially before these great families. He didn’t want attention or involvement.

“The so-called famous doctors of the southern capital can’t compare to even a tenth of your skill! The clan has indeed called in a well-known physician from the south, but I have little faith in him,” Murong Yun flattered him.

Lin Yang smiled slightly. “Let’s wait and see what this famous doctor can do, then. You’re here at a good time—I could use a small favor from you myself.”

Murong Yun saw that Lin Yang hadn’t flatly refused and breathed a sigh of relief.

“Please, go ahead,” she said.

“I have a good friend who started a small industrial design company. Do you have any business that might match his services? It’s hard for young entrepreneurs, they deserve more opportunities,” Lin Yang said.

“Of course! Send me his contact information and I’ll make the arrangements,” Murong Yun agreed without hesitation.

“Oh, there’s something else you might find interesting,” she added.

“What is it?”

“I’ve canceled cooperation with Xingyao Group. Naturally, some other companies, sensing the change in the wind, have followed suit and ended their partnerships as well. Right now, Qin Monong is in deep trouble.”

“Xingyao Group may very well go bankrupt under her management.”

“That’s the company my parents left to me,” Lin Yang said.

Murong Yun’s expression changed at once. “Should I say something? Help Qin Monong out?”

“That won’t be necessary. I have no interest in business. Let her worry for a while,” Lin Yang replied with a wave of his hand.

Outside the villa, three cars arrived.

From the first car stepped Dou Jun and his father, Dou Tao.

Two men emerged from the second car: Wang Jiaqian, vice president of the Grand Commerce Association, and his son, Wang Shenglan.

But today, Wang Shenglan had none of his usual handsome flair. He wore a mask to cover his face—a face he himself had bruised badly the night before, and which still had not healed.

Humiliated, Wang Shenglan couldn’t wait for Wei Dagang to take revenge on Lin Yang; he was determined to do it himself.

From the last car emerged a single man—a master of the eighth rank, whom Wang Jiaqian had hired at great expense.

“President Wang, Young Master Wang, this is Building 18 of the Imperial Garden. It used to be Lin Yang’s home,” Dou Jun said as he approached.

Dou Jun also hated Lin Yang bitterly, but lacking the ability to take revenge himself, he could only serve as a guide for Wang Shenglan.

“Excellent! Let’s see if that Lin brat is really as bold as they say!” Wang Jiaqian’s face was dark with murderous rage. On learning what had happened to his son the night before, he had been livid.

It was not only an insult to his son, but to himself. As one of Luocheng’s most prominent figures, how could he swallow such humiliation?
