Volume One, Chapter 127: Let the Bullets Fly First!
Gu Hengshan’s face was deathly pale, his expression twisted in agony. His right arm had been severed, and although he had received treatment and bandaging from Yan Wushuang’s men, they were the very soldiers he had come to intercept. During the bandaging process, the men allowed their personal resentment to show, their movements deliberately rough.
Almost immediately, a blue figure emerged from within the pack of Wind-Eater Corpses. Its arrival was sudden and eerie, and the death ray it unleashed seemed to blanket the entire sky.
Yet, he was unaware that Hong Xiang had already arrived outside his camp, standing atop a high mountain, coldly looking down at the massive Bairao military encampment.
This was hardly surprising, however. Given Ye Lingwei’s current fame, if she hadn’t been invited to the Spring Festival Gala, the organizers would have had a hard time justifying it to the public. Of course, one could only say the organizers were eccentric to be able to set aside their pride like that.
Upon learning of the Xiongnu’s suicidal defiance, Tanshihuai was finally truly enraged. He immediately declared that he would set aside the Han army for the time being and devote all his efforts to completely eradicating the Xiongnu.
Nightmare did not respond to her, whether because it was trapped and lacked the time to speak, or simply because it did not wish to acknowledge Xu Xianqian.
Jiang Huo’s heart suddenly hammered, nearly leaping out of her chest. Her shoe grazed the Wind Lord’s chair; the Wind Lord turned to look at her, and she offered a faint smile to signal that everything was fine.
"I still maintain my position: this battle must be fought, but now is not the right time. We must wait a little longer," Jia Xu said slowly.
"If it is only one of the sides, given the current strength of the Great Tang, I fear success would be difficult!" Li Bai did not pause to ponder, replying to Li Wujie immediately.
"How rude!" Bai Chen’s body flickered, instantly transforming into a blurred afterimage as he dashed toward the altar. He had been wearing the Phantom Cloak, and now was the perfect time to utilize its speed-enhancing ability.
After a brief exchange, Hong Xiang and Yuan Shu returned to the private room where the others were waiting. At that moment, Yuan Shu’s men had just delivered the one thousand gold pieces and were waiting for Hong Xiang to accept them.
He then went to Dongru to bid a formal farewell to Ji Fangfei, only to find that she had traveled to several different pastures in search of her children, and no one knew exactly where she was. Wang Peng left her a letter and departed Dongru in low spirits.
The group moved with great haste—especially Guyu, Nianhua, the Tie Zheng brothers, Lion, and those at the front of the formation. They were breathing heavily, their faces pale and showing no sign of improvement.
"The Black Tortoise Shield is decent, but it is not quite suitable for us," Bai Ze remarked. The members of the Hidden Spirit Sect were seated in the area closest to the center of the auction.
"How could Lord Liuhuo suddenly fall into a coma?" Pang Tong slammed his hand against the window frame so hard that sharp wooden splinters pierced his palm, instantly staining it bright red.
After getting enough sleep, Qian Ruoruo opened her eyes to find a blurred figure sitting by the bedside, watching her.
Although Zhao Xuan’s eyes were fixed on Xu Liang, everyone in the room knew that his words were directed at Jiu Huang.
The Ferocious Spirit had clearly obtained intelligence on Liuhuo. He knew that after these days of relentless attacks, Liuhuo’s mental energy had weakened to the extreme, making it impossible for him to unleash the same kind of techniques he had used outside the Great Wind. Facing a toothless tiger, the Ferocious Spirit did not mind stepping onto the field himself to thoroughly torment him.
Sun Liren lived up to his reputation as a battle-hardened old general; he immediately understood why Lu Xuehua had been so desperate to contact the military headquarters using an open channel.
He had reached adulthood! Empress Nie sighed to herself. Eighteen years—she had spent eighteen years painstakingly cultivating him, yet he still required her to handle everything. She felt a profound weariness in her heart.
But with a population in the hundreds of millions, there had to be a massive number of zombies here. Surely, more than half had been killed since the apocalypse began; otherwise, humanity would have been completely suppressed long ago.
