Shen Ye flicked his hand, felt the base of the bullet, and with a sharp tug, pulled it clean out of his chest.

A bit of blood flowed, but it ceased almost immediately.

This was the benefit of having a formidable physique!

Clutching the Tiger Zen Blade, he shook his head with an expression that suggested, "Is that all you've got?"

The middle-aged man in the vest, sporting a mustache, panicked. He immediately moved to pull the trigger again.

However, Shen Ye had already anticipated the motion.

Evasion was far too simple. After all, the brief moment required to pull a trigger gave Shen Ye enough time to execute many actions.

He pushed off with his left foot, exploding into motion.

In an instant, he shifted his body horizontally to the right. Pivoting on his left foot and kicking back with his right, he used the recoil to close the distance to the gunman with blinding speed.

The gunman, in a state of extreme panic, tried to turn his weapon to fire at Shen Ye.

But it was too late.

In the split second before the gunman could adjust his aim, the Tiger Zen Blade, trailing a dark, obsidian light, slashed across with terrifying velocity.

The force of the strike was immense, and the blade itself was razor-sharp. The flesh and bone it encountered offered no resistance at all.

One strike, two pieces! Severed at the waist!

With a sharp *shing*, the gunman’s body was sliced clean in two, blood spraying wildly.

The gunman looked down, his eyes filled with disbelief. How was this possible?

*Thud! Thud!* The lower half of his body hit the ground first, followed by the upper half, which collapsed atop it. The gun clattered to the floor.

"You dare to confront me with a handgun? You truly have no regard for your own life."

Shen Ye had already scanned the man’s details with his Eyes of Justice: "Li Liyi, second-in-command of the organ-harvesting syndicate. Responsible for multiple kidney extractions leading to death. Sin Value: 42."

Judging by the Sin Value alone, he was significantly higher than the core members of human trafficking rings, rivaling even the syndicate leaders.

Behind him, Lu Yi watched with his mouth agape. He had initially assumed Shen Ye was a reckless amateur fueled by the bravado of youth. He had never expected that once the real fighting began, Shen Ye would be this domineering. He showed no fear of the enemy's gun, and with a single flash of his blade, he had cleaved a man in two.

What overwhelming power!

It seemed the grandson of Captain Shen possessed quite some skill.

Of course, Lu Yi still lacked confidence in Shen Ye. He remained convinced that the "Big Boss" still waiting in the wings—the left-handed swordsman Zuo Leng, who had dominated the underworld across the two provinces for over twenty years—was not someone a novice like Shen Ye could match.

As Shen Ye’s deputy, Lu Yi was responsible for criminal investigation, logistics, and cleaning up the scene. Seeing that Shen Ye had killed Li Liyi, he immediately began to secure the area. He soon discovered a notebook in Li Liyi’s coat.

Opening it, he realized it was a ledger of financial transactions. It turned out that Li Liyi, the second-in-command, was in charge of the finances in addition to his marksmanship.

The ledger recorded:

"March 5th: Target was drinking at the bar and suffered a blackout. Kidney matching successful. March 18th: Drugged the target, performed kidney transplant. Earned 400,000. Distributed 20,000 to Dr. Gao, 10,000 to the anesthetist, 10,000 to the nurses. Net profit: 360,000. Target died post-surgery, body dumped into the sea."

"March 11th: Target was drinking at the bar. We secretly served them 'blackout liquor' to induce memory loss. Matching failed, abandoned." (There is a type of liquor abroad known as 'blackout liquor' that causes immediate unconsciousness and memory loss; it had spread domestically over the last two years and was being used by the organ-harvesting syndicate.)

It was a clever tactic: find a lone individual at a bar, get them to drink until they blacked out, escort them out, and perform the kidney match. If successful, they would prepare for surgery.

"March 16th: Target was drinking at the bar. Served blackout liquor. Matching successful. Performed kidney transplant. Earned 450,000. Distributed 20,000 to Dr. Gao, 10,000 to the anesthetist, 10,000 to the nurses. Net profit: 410,000. Target died post-surgery, body dumped into the sea."

"March 18th: Kidney matching failed, abandoned."

"March 19th: Kidney matching failed, abandoned."

"March 28th: Kidney matching successful. Performed surgery. Earned 420,000. Net profit: 360,000. Target died post-surgery, body dumped into the sea."

Lu Yi felt a chill run down his spine as he read.

Shen Ye looked at the ledger, too. These were all blood debts, one by one. This was the very reason he had decided to take on this case.

...

The loud crash from Shen Ye throwing the two thugs and the subsequent gunshot from Li Liyi had echoed up the stairwell.

A group of thugs armed with steel pipes and machetes had been rushing down the stairs. They had been brimming with confidence, thinking it would be easy to overwhelm one man with their numbers.

But when they reached the bottom, they saw a sight that froze them in their tracks!

The second-in-command, Li Liyi, had fired a shot that struck the young man with the black blade.

But the bullet! Only the front half had penetrated the young man’s body. The back half remained sticking out, unable to go any further!

How was this possible? Even a bullet couldn't penetrate him?

Furthermore, Shen Ye was only wearing a white shirt; it was clear he wore no bulletproof vest.

The defensive power of his physical body! How monstrous must it be!

The remaining thugs looked at the steel pipes and machetes in their own hands, and their confidence evaporated. If a bullet couldn't pierce him, could the impact of a steel pipe or the edge of a machete do any better?

They probably couldn't even break his skin!

Damn it! Was he even human? He was a monster in human skin! How could such a terrifying person exist in this world?

This display stripped the thugs of all desire to fight.

They slammed on the brakes as fast as they could. Then, they began to retreat, their faces deathly pale.

"A martial artist! That's a martial artist!"

"Let's go find the boss."

"Right, the boss is a martial artist, too."

"No matter how strong he is, he’ll die at the boss's hands."

"Forget about martial artists, the boss is the strongest one of all!"

They scrambled back up the stairs like a receding tide.

Shen Ye, carrying his obsidian blade, stepped onto the stairs and began to ascend, one step at a time.

This organ-harvesting syndicate was pure evil. Too many people had suffered at their hands.

So, he would take the blade in his hand and slaughter his way to justice! Out of this endless darkness, he would carve a path to the light!
