I have returned.

Hello everyone, I am Jiang Wangyue.

Leaving without a word last year and returning so suddenly today—I truly do not know where to begin.

When I stopped updating, the story was only 200,000 words long and had not yet been officially published. At the time, it had only a few hundred followers, and the number of active readers was pitifully small. Because of this, I felt no psychological burden when I abandoned it; I simply thought that if it was over, it was over, and it would be a good opportunity to focus on my health.

However, surprises are everywhere. Just yesterday, August 11, 2023, I was scrolling through Bilibili and happened upon a video version of "The Treacherous Official." I was absolutely stunned.

I immediately discovered that there were many such videos on both Douyin and Bilibili, with the longest one spanning over eight hours and covering the entire content of the novel. I was shocked—truly, completely shocked. I had no idea about any of this! I still do not know how it all happened.

But what shocked me most were the comment sections—both in the videos and on the novel’s page.

I realized then that this book had actually garnered quite a lot of attention, with many readers eagerly awaiting updates. A mountain of responsibility suddenly pressed down upon me.

In the comments, beyond the fervent pleas for new chapters and the rebukes for my neglect, some readers even speculated that I might have passed away under the double burden of severe fatty liver disease and the pandemic.

Oh my... Many readers expressed their worry and concern for me. I was moved, truly moved.

I deserve the scolding I received. But as for the care, I feel I hardly deserve it. The only thing I can do now is to resume serialization.

Yesterday, from around 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM, I combed through the entire text and began reorganizing the outline and the world-building. I am releasing two chapters today, and I will do my best to ensure they connect seamlessly with the previous plot, hoping that the quality will satisfy you all.

Additionally, I would like to report on my upcoming writing status and plans.

I will be returning to write "The Treacherous Official" full-time. My update schedule will be two chapters a day, totaling 4,000 words; that is likely the limit of my current capacity. I also need to hurry and contact my editor, because during the year I was away, I... deleted his QQ account (if you know, you know how awkward this is).

Oh, and finally: if you have anything you would like to say, please leave a comment under the updated chapters. I do not have any fan groups. As for whether I should create one, I have some thoughts on it, but I’m a bit hesitant. We shall discuss that another time.
